Hey lowyat peeps, I'll be getting a my first laptop this week and I intend to keep this laptop for at least 5 years. The laptop is mainly for gaming and collegework so I'll be carrying it around here and there. Any advice is appreciated. TY

1) do backup on regular basis.

2) get a good laptop bag with padding.

3) treat it like PRECIOUS, then it will tahan a long way, even longer than 5 years. biggrin.gif

Just have everything on cloud - Dropbox, GoogleDrive, OneDrive and have them on autosync.
Not only it helps with backups, it helps you keep files consistent among the machines.

hardware wise, there are a lot of issues you have to take into account. Some laptops won't even allow you to dismantle the backpanel. When you do, warranty is void. Nobody can give proper hardware advice, unless you state what model you're using.

As for software, many people have given sufficient advice. Just be wary of what you upload to the cloud. Its a good place to make sure things don't go missing, but it is not the best place unless you have the moolah to keep it (unless you're using office 356 which gives you 1TB as long as your subscription is alive)

hey.. you may consider MSI GE62 with NVIDIA 950/960/970 depends on the games you play.. it also comes with the feature called Matrix display, nice for gaming..
