Try baby wearing him for skin to skin and even nurse him, sometimes they just needs to be close to feel the warm and the smell of the mother, when you baby-wear him, he will feel like he is in the womb and would feel much safer, once he quiet down, you can wear him and sit with hands-free.
Also for wind, next time try doing 'cycling' with his feet and massaging his tummy before bedtime, you will see that he will burp. Don't put him down to sleep straight away, just wear him for awhile
Also, if he sleeping with you on the bed or in a cot? You might want to try to let him sleep under your armpit area - this has proven to make baby feel more confident and secure when they sleep, to have your warmth and smell nearby.
Don't wait for him to wake up and cry for milk, set your alarm slightly earlier than his feeding him, once you see him to have tongue out or mouth twitching, you can nurse him before he cries, coz once he cries, a lot of wind would have gone into his stomach causing discomfort
