Hi guys! Looking to quit smoking and pick up vaping as a healthier habit. I'll be paying my first visit to a vape shop (Vapebrothers, Mobile Vapor Shop or Vapekulture) sometime this weekend or next to learn more about which starter kits I should opt for. Was peeking about online and read good things about the Subox Mini and the Nautilus mini. Would any of the sifus here recommend those two kits? I've also heard that there are fake Subox Mini kits. Is there any markers I should watch out for when purchasing one?

Are there any good online resources for the vaping newbie? Any tips? smile.gif

My first kit was nautilus mini with istick I then buy subox. I think you should go for Subox. First is cheap, second it comes with Rba where you can recoil and rewick so you don't need go spend on occ. Third, is really easy to do rewick on subtank Rba. Third subox is cheap. Sekian.

How much is your budget?  IPVD2 and subtank would be a good combo as well. Small, no need to upgrade for atleast 1 year, a really good mod with consistent firing and free condom! LoL
*
QUOTE(Vail @ Aug 21 2015, 10:25 PM)
If ur looking get cheap kit, go for subox. its best choice for its price.

But i recommend IPV D2 as its also dirt cheap for a mod with single battery + Temperature control. Of course it will cost more than subox since the mod it self is same price with subox kit.
*
Cheers for all the replies! Seems like Subox is a decent bargain starter kit. I'm looking to spend ~RM500-600 total on my first vaping purchase (kit + a couple bottles of e-liquid) so that eliminates some of the fancier setups. I've got Subox friends and Nautilus friends who swear by their kit of choice which helped me narrow my options down. Some more experienced friends advised me to get the Subox to test the waters and if that gets me on vaping, then upgrade to the IPV D2.

Get a D2. If you get a Subox to test waters and like it you'd want to upgrade. If you don't like it, its easier to sell a D2. Every Tom, Dick & Harry already owns a Subox!
@Vail, I had to skip dinner for two months to save for a D2. Now you call it a dirt cheap mod. I feel so poor.
You put my precious D2 the same level as a used condom! You hurt my feelings man...
*
Haha you've got a good point there! Guess that's the Subox's biggest drawback. Think I'll be going to the vape shops sooner than expected!

Woo hoo! Just got my first kit - Nautilus Mini Starter kit with Mountain Oak Vapors' Root Beer Float. Been using it for a few hours and I can see why a lot of smokers have switched completely to vaping instead! Cleaner flavours without the harshness and health hazards. Planning to kick the nicotine dependency eventually so the ability to control my intake via lower strength liquids is great! Is there any vape stores that stock a wide range of 0mg liquids?

Damn you and your luck. Damn you all to Hell!! Oh, and congrats btw.
Paging Dr.Vail Seems like we need 100ml of poison here.
The Juicemachine, vapebrothers and vape empire(?) Just try asking em on FB first beforehand. Cheers mate and welcome
*
Went to Vapebrothers to get my kit and was informed by the salesperson that they only carry 12mg liquids as "they believe in vapers moderating their own intake instead of vaping all you like and having the liquid moderate your nicotine intake"... Was a little put off by that but eh, decent service aside from that exchange. I'm not a heavy smoker at all (~1 pack per week) and prefer shisha over the conventional cigs, so I'm looking to get my hands on some lower strength juices. 6mg at first and 0mg when I start transitioning towards kicking the nicotine habit. I've rung up Vapekulture and was informed that they do carry 0mg juices albeit a tiny range of brands and flavours.

Mountain Oak have root beer float? I didn't know that. How was ir?

It's pretty darn good! Tastes just like a creamy root beer and I'm loving the flavour but as usual, YMMV. Was gifted a 6mg bottle by a friend and would definitely buy a couple more biggrin.gif Does anyone happen to know what's a good retailer (both retail and online) that stocks the Mountain Oak Vapor range?

Wow... Sounds snobbish. Never dealt with them personally so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but they do have a decent variety there. Sorry you had to go through that mate. Juicemachine used to carry the MOV line, but last time I've check online all of them are out of stock. 0mg are pretty rare in the local market.
*
Well, I'd put that down to them having a bad day. I was a little cheesed off during the exchange but meh, it's literally not my business. I'll just look somewhere else for my e-juice needs biggrin.gif It certainly does seem like 0mg is quite the rare find locally, unless I went down the DIY path which does seem a bit intimidating, admittedly. I'm thinking about buying the 0mg juices from overseas online retailers if the local market seems dry. Ain't too sure about the legality of the whole thing but guess I'll have to do some research and poking about.

Check out vapebar and vapetech in Sunway. They both carry but not sure if there is Root Beer Float. Have you tried Dr Brew? If you do how is it compare to Mountain Oak?
*
Cheers man! Just sent them both a PM over FB and will update if they carry Root Beer Float. Haven't tried Dr Brew yet but it seems like another favourite for root beer fans. Just got my starter kit yesterday and started puffing away today with 2 flavours - a gifted MOV Root Beer Float and Mister E Grape Ice (both great flavours IMO).

Hi guys! Does anyone have any cake-like dessert flavours to recommend? Been happily vaping the MOV root beer float + grape for the past week, and looking to try new flavours. Mister E's Grape Ice is fantastic for any grape lovers but damn, can't find any stores that carries the low-nicotine versions sad.gif

Lol I've heard about that but didn't get a chance to try it out yet! Is it easy to track down a store that carries it in the 0mg or 6mg strengths? I think Vapebrothers has it but they only stock it in 12mg sweat.gif

Oh excellent! Guess I'll have to go test it out somewhere and camp Le Gadget til their 0/6mg liquids are back in stock. Any other recs for ADV liquids? Most places seem to only stock 12mgs which are a tad too strong for me and I get all pening after 3-4 puffs.

This may be a bit of a noob question, but is there anyway to make an e-liquid less...sweet? Tested out a couple of liquids (Cuttwood's Unicorn Milk and Rocket Sheep's Cloudsat) and while they tasted great at the store, I found them to be a bit too sickly sweet after a hour's worth of light vaping. Got all pening and found the sweetness to be too nauseating for my liking sad.gif

Read up about steeping which seems to improve on the flavours but would steeping help with the overwhelming sweetness? Am I stuck with two almost-new bottles of juice?

few options:

1. add in PG - this will keep the taste intact, or slightly lesser impact but with vapor reduced
2. add in VG - taste will reduce, but vape clouds will improve
3. add in distilled water (not mineral water!) - taste and clouds will reduce

basically what you're doing is to dilute the ejuice. flavours are usually around 10-20% of the total ejuice (including sweeteners like sucralose and stevia).
if you steep it via hot water bath, nic will be destroyed. if you leave the cap open, nic will be destroyed.
*
Destroying the nicotine isn't that huge a priority for me as I prefer low-no nicotine content juices. It's just the blasted sickeningly sweetness that's rather nauseating. It's been over 6 hours since I vaped those particular juices and I can still taste the sweetness in my mouth. Never had that problem when I was vaping other non-dessert juices sad.gif

Tried nenen juice.

One of the worst juice I've ever tasted. It is extremely cloying.

Local juices are either very sweet or very menthol-ly.

I'm sticking with US juices from now on.
*
I noticed that seems to be the main problem with local juices - excessively sweet and minty. Tried the much raved about Dr Brew Rude Beer and god, it tasted just like mouthwash. I get that wintergreen is a common component in root beers and mouthwash/Salonpas but the menthol was just overwhelming. It's great for menthol fans tho...

Just got a half bottle of Five Pawns' Grandmaster from a friend who hated it and I'm hooked on that now. Awesome peanut butter flavour with a mild banana aftertaste. I'll admit, the hefty price tag is a bit of a put off or this would be a regular juice for me.

imported juice expensive?

its being sold around usd25 for 30ml bottle, in a production line clean room..

the clean room even have temperature and humidity control, they have to wear lab coats, goggles, cap to ensure 100% cleanliness...

our local brew cheapest is rm20 for 30ml(lewan, udang karang) and can reach up to rm55 for 30ml bottles, and....

take a wild guess on their production facility...
*
You get what you pay for, I guess. I certainly don't expect to pay RM30-40 for a brew that tastes just like some of the premium US ones. That said, US$25/30ml is still considered to be fairly pricey even amongst the overseas vaping community.

Planning to stock up on some US juices. Any flava junkies can recommend something like these?

My local juice shop doesn't provide testers for premium liquids so have to ask around doh.gif

I prefer juices that are creamy, not so sweet and a bit bitter like coffee if you may
*
Five Pawns' Grandmaster is quite a good liquid - tasty peanut butter flavour with a mellow cream without being overly jelat sweet. Rocket Sheep's Cloudsat has a nice apple pie flavour with a light cream aftertaste on the exhale. It's more of a vanilla scented apple pie, rather than the cinnamon type that I was expecting but it still makes for a decent dessert vape. Personal favourites are:

MOV's Americano (slighty bitter coffee flavour instead of the overly sweet Nescafe-styled coffees but if you're wanting something slightly creamier, try their Coffee & Cream)
MOV's Double Barrel (Root beer float with a very, very, veeery mild cream flavour which tastes more like Bundaberg root beer than A&W) *currently my ADV*

Ordered Bell's Brew Breakfast Crunch from Juice Machine which arrived in the mail today. Was looking forward to trying the juice that some folks were calling the Msian version of FP's Grandmaster but unfortunately there was a hole right at the squeeze-y part of the dropper sad.gif Wondering if I should return it or just bite the bullet and give it a go :/

Do you know if any local stores carry Mister E's Rootbeer Barrel in 6mg? I'd checked some of the more popular online stores (Juice Machine/LeGadgets) but none of them seem to carry that sad.gif

Hi guys! Was lucky enough to have a friend vape it on and gift me his iPV Mini 2 after he upgraded to a Provari. I've been using a Nautilus Mini/iStick 20w for the past 2 weeks since I started vaping and is there anything new I need to learn before switching mods?

Friend said that the maintenance and usage is pretty much the same aside from the iPV Mini 2 having an external battery while the iStick uses a built-in battery. I did notice that the LED display is slightly different and that the iPV Mini 2 fires up to 70w which is heaps more than what my old mod can go.
