golden advice from my cifu: young magician always dislike gimmick and very hardcore sleight of hand. Nothing bad about that.

But, what is more magical to your AUDIENCE?
A super sybil cut with OHR with marry jane with one hand shuffle and then a super hardcore sleight of hand magic.

Or a simple deck of svengali card?

I am not saying sleight is no good.
But what is the best is when we know how to balance.

gimmicks might be designed and created for the convinience of the performer but not to the extend of piece of cake imho~

look at different performers handling their gimmicks ; all require your own creativity and showmanship...

I agree and disagree with all the opinions. Powerful tool, I agree it to the fullest extent. This is the point of having gimmicks around the performer. Use it ALWAYS, its a definate no no for me. I prefer pulling out some tricks with gimmicks and then go on with tricks without gimmick because as the magical "tension" rises through the spectator, the more they want to see magic and the more they want to examine the stuff that you use. This is just an opinion though. So dun flame lo. Haha!

i love some gimmicks, hate some gimmicks.. got some gimmicks, u no need to practise hard then u can use le..(exp: the spring and the round thing).. donno call what..haha..but for gimmick like TT, i quite like it now... can perform very good effect magic..haha..
