I realllyyyyyyy need some help here.. i wanted to get a laptop for my bf but i have not a slightest idea about laptops.. i need something that is good for studies.. dunno how to describe.. but my bf currently studying medical at university and probably uses lots of microsoft stuff.. and recently his laptop would juz suddenly turn off.. imagine a whole essay he wrote for the entire day just gone.. i need some laptop that has the function to resume after suddent shut down (reason:low battery or whatever) and that can play games in facebook such as TETRIS BATTLE without lag.. haha thanks guys this would help me a bunchhhh <3
requirements of laptop:
-resume after sudden shut down without notice -low battery notification -can play facebook TETRIS BATTLE without lag -fast browsing internet (chrome) -long lasting battery
most importantly i need to know quite a few laptops that can resume to where the page is left off even after instant/sudden shut down.. thanks again <3

those things are available on any laptop. just software
i would say just give him the money and ask him to buy one himself, better let him regret his own decision rather than having him complain about your choice afterwards

Any laptop will hybernate when their battery drained to a certain percentage. You need to advice him to make sure the battery is good when he works and keeps aware of it, else any laptop you buy, it won't solve anything for him.

What's your budget? I'd recommend to go for Lenovo Ultrabook or Lenovo Yoga since your BF is not into heavy gaming from your description (Tetris Battle ) for around 2.2k to 2.6k depends on specifications You can probably find cheaper seller here at Garage Sales. Reference: http://www.techhypermart.com/notebooks/len...t920m-w8-1.htmlhttp://www.clickasia.my/lenovo-ideapad-yog...0n4003jmj-blackHe probably uses it more towards work productivity so something light and battery lasting would be preferable?

waaaaa, what a lucky guy, hope you are actually rich and not spending your life savings on this.
If your bf is an applefag then he wont settle for anything but mac
Otherwise, MSI or Alienware will make him jizz his pants

QUOTE(amykana2 @ Aug 9 2015, 01:52 AM) yea if I were him I would prefer if you ask which laptop I want, but judging from the needs the best value for money is the Lenovo Z50, light and very well rounded for 2k+

Not recommending a new laptop per se, but you could try getting your BF to use word processors that sync automatically online. I personally use OneDrive which links up seamlessly to Microsoft Office and saves whatever I'm working on periodically. Since it's all backed up on the cloud (with the proper settings), you will theoretically never lose your data. Apart from that, getting into the habit of hitting Ctrl+S every 5 minutes helps
