Somebody asked about the 2% telco rebate.

I paid 2 bills at Citibank Online:

07/08/2015 *CBOL MAXIS POSTPAID M RM 38.45
07/08/2015 *CBOL DIGI POSTPAID 13 DIGIT M RM 59.05

Even though it's under unbilled section but for at the reward points, I noticed that it has rebate calculated for both transactions.

Total Available Reward Points: 1.85 <--- short of 10 cents

I thought Platinum start from 15k?

Citi really kind of credit limit... my one is Clear card, if no mistaken, the min CL is 3k, but CS told me is 1k, ended up rejected

So I think you can just set to min, don't ask CS. Otherwise, may be reject if set too low I would say

if you still intend to use the card and waiver request is not successful, then got no other option. if you have not used the card since the AF being charged, you may consider to terminate it and if the bank wants too retain you, they may then give you the waiver.

Who said. The CS is scaring you.

The CS is senseless sometime.

If you call CS early to request for waiver before it appears in the statement, they said it's too early and nothing they can do. They'll probably ask you to wait till you're being charged.

Then, you call CS for waiver after being charged, all sort of nonsenses will come out. Cannot waiver. Cannot cancel. Even cancel still have to pay bla bla

Do you did any transaction after AF being charged?

If yes, mean you are agreed the AF and continue to use the card

If no, you definitely can cancel

Try to call again, I think it is dependent on the customer service. Some if more lenient while other is more strict.

I have used that cashback platinum card for more than 5 years, I recall every year also can waived. There was one year I called 2-3 times to get it done as first time the CSR says no such offer... doh.gif doh.gif

But seems like last 2 years you just call in and be directed to their self service to key in your CC to get waiver. They will notify via SMS whether success or not.

They will notify via SMS whether success or not.

oic..noted. to b honest, my cashback would never b enuf to cover the annual fees. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif so i guess i better monitor closely and then cancel it after 6-7 months.

Nope, with 1st Year Annual fee waiver only...
On the 2nd year or onwards U need to call C'S to request the AF Waiver from Citi but subject to their approval give or not...

FYI, ONLY the "Citibank's Choice Card" is Free for Life with No AF !

Ya, whether You decide to keep or Cancel the Card U should call them for waiver now or they will charge U AF on the Next statement as if there's NO Transaction have been done with Card it should be EZ to cancel... nod.gif

Stop using the credit card for the moment being. Once the AF is in the statement, then call for waiver. If cannot waive, then just cancel, the AF does not apply

Different banks have different ways. Just wait for another 2 months if you are still interested with Citibank, else look elsewhere.

Not necessarily. I recalled back in 2011, I was on my first job after graduated and Citibank was my very first CC.

Anyhow, it really depends to the bank discretion I think.

It was told to me by the CS. When I applied Citi cc, my income is few times above the requirements. No any loan either. But they reject my application. Then they give me this reason. After I use other cc for one year and reapply , Citi approved both of cc application with the same salary. I think it applies to most people, and may be yours are exceptional case

Hate those card below signature level with no AF waiver. What I will do is cancel those card and only stick with those card with waiver. Most bank give waiverr especially spending RM 3k per month. So far only citibank and UOB try to be funny with me. Cancel without hesitation.

Is the high credit limit given to a credit card is good?

If u really need to spend so much, then it is good to have high credit limit.

Otherwise, it will have fault case with higher amount if lost th card.
Also, it will reflect in criss and ctos? No sure high credit limit is good to build credit rating?

Different people has different view. Some will call to increase CL, and some will call to reduce credit limit. It is individual dependence. I always call in to reduce CL. Because they really give me too high limit and make me fear. Surprisingly reduce CL also subject to approval!

I'm no expert but I think the logic is this, if you have a high credit limit and you are not utilizing all of it, it shows your discipline as a bank has trusted you with a high credit limit and trust that you will not overuse it and payments are done in a timely manner.

Some people believe that for credit scoring purpose, your spend amount on your card should not exceed 25% of your credit limit in a best case scenario. So if you have RM10000 of credit limit, spend amount should be around RM2500. hmm.gif

I agree that payment done in a timely manner is some form of pattern that banks prefer. But I doubt that is the reason to give high credit limit. In perspective of bank, they want to make money, paying promptly mean no income generation but is also less risk amounting to bad debt. They give high credit limit to encourage to spent or if got emergency usage of huge sum, there is chances of delay payment, instalment and etc which can generate income. smile.gif

Dear Sifus,

I travel to overseas every month with a minimum stay of 1 week, longest 4 weeks for business trip. I will specifically be using the credit card for hotel payment (mostly), dining (seldom) and shopping (seldom), excluding flight ticket (being paid by company). I will have to pay first and claim the following month from the company.

Is the Citibank Business Platinum Card suitable for me?
Can I apply for it on my own or does the company has to apply it for me? Because in the "How to apply" section, I only saw the information for self-employed person.
Citibank Business Platinum Card Website

Much appreciate the help.

Much appreciate the reply dear brother,

Before this I literally had no idea that for the Citi Business Platinum we will have to call CS to actually earn the cash back, thought that it will automatically be done. This piece of information is very useful and changed my mind about getting it now, haha. Not the kind of person to call plus I will be busy and not have the time to do so.

Your suggestion, with regards to the Citi Cash Back card intrigued me. However, in my case (in which the card will be used mostly for hotel payment); correct me if I am wrong, I will only be eligible for 0.2% cashback with no capping?

Appreciate the reply.

My decision to cut off my Citi card is a correct decision! Some more to collect points also so much of exception, basically they won't give us points for most of the activities!

I've never held two different cards from the same bank before, it's my first time with Citibank. When making payment, do I have to make Interbank GIRO transfer to two different account numbers or is there another simpler way?

U have to make 2 time payment by transfer interbank transfer if u using other bank

Actaully, there is a way u can make 1 time payment by transfer fund to 1 credit card.
Then call to citibank to transfer exceed payment to another card.

This is troublesome and risky as u need make a call (call also need phone call cost and u need to follow up until it credit which took frew workiing days) and u might unable to transfer the exceed payment due to various reasons.
Example, may be u swipe the card that u pay for extra and current oustanding amount might be paid with extra payement. Bank might not allow to transfer as the credit card do not have extra payment when consider courrent oustanding,

Hmm.. applying waiver through phone not that difficult, take about less than 10 minutes. Just follow the instruction and press button accordingly. In a week, they will call back and let you know if the waiver is approved or not

Email to them will only need one minute. It is irritating to press here and there unless you always call and very familiar with the system, for people like me seldom call CS, but I was asked to press here and there then waited so long because all CS are busy, then hang up and the process begin again , it is so annoying!

Hmmm. Email only need 1 minutes? Wow... you must have template readily available:hmm:
For waiver through phone, the last time I try, I don't need to speak to nobody. Just follow the procedure and the system will logged that I request for waiver.
Anyway, it all depends on preference.... cheers!

Received my Citibank Prestige Card weeks ago together with the Priority Pass and a citi prestige card holder.

In the 1st statement, I have been charged RM1000+RM60 annual fee but I managed to get it back.

After I got my card, I use my card for more than RM250, and call CS to get the I-Phone 6 64GB. The I-Phone 64GB cost me RM1421.30+RM85.27.

That means annual fee + I-phone 6 64GB= RM2566.57

When I got my I-phone 6 64GB, I sold it at RM2950.

So, I earned RM383.43 for getting the Citi Prestige Card.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just not sure about the annual fee next year but definitely will ask for waiver next year.

I am not sure but the CS told me if you are an existing Citibank Card holder, you can apply it if your annual income is more than 100k. Only if you did not hold any Citibank Credit Card, then your annual income has to be at least 200k.

tried to call in to get annual fee waived for CB Plat, CS told me either downgrade to choice or take personal loan for 5k to waive...

I'm not sure what's their criteria for waiver but got it done last year, this year tightening up perhaps. Have always settled promptly and no outstanding every month still can't waive.

As I have mentioned, the annual fee cannot be waived but you can take up the IPhone6 64GB promotion and then sell the phone.

I want cards with cashback... MBB 2 cards is almost useless to me now since the cashback is only limited to dining. I dont dine that much using credit card. I want the cashback for petrol, utility bills, groceries and on & off shopping

Ikhwan only got petrol and groceries

And frankly I am quiet pissed that MBB changed the terms & conditions without even informing their customers

The CS will give u 2 choices to use points to waive or do balance transfer. Say you want to do neither .If the CS still does not want to waive the annual fees. Ask them to pass the line to the retention department. Talk to the retention officer. icon_idea.gif

OT abit..
Just curious, why you want to cancel MBB2 Cards although NO more 5% CB but still a very Good Rewards CC with 5X Unlimted TPs + Lifetime Fee Waiver... hmm.gif
Why not just covert to MBB Islamic Ikhwan still got 5% CB with Groceries, Petrol on Fri, Sat only

To Me, NO AF Card is Good CC  as I also got THESE 2CC+ I NEVER Paid single cent of AF for my 10+ CCs... flex.gif

2nd year onwards can be waived as suggested, very subjective. Well, I myself applied the MBB Ikhwan too to cover petrol and groceries. Decided to keep M2Cards and Ikhwan, my main card will still be the AMEX (as for now), because of the x5 TP and existing points.... My plan, transactions below RM50 will be used with this Citibank CB or when petrol other than Friday and Saturday... Everyone is pissed because of the revised 5% AMEX mad.gif Anyway, I would suggest you to apply this Citibank CB and probably try for few months 1st, see whether you like it or not? laugh.gif

Just not sure about the annual fee next year but definitely will ask for waiver next year.

hi,

If I upgrade from my current clear card to the visa platinum, will I be charged full amount or prorated at year end? Is the annual fee charged at 31 Dec or from the date you received the card.

Annual fee waiver possible with the platinum? Do we call before or after the fee is waived. Feel kinda not worth it if I get charged in full when I just got the card.

Thanks

both also can..if you wanna call after the AF is charged, make sure you have not perform any transaction after it is charged. Else, you need to pay the AF if the request is not granted.

After a year, the scenario is they will ask you to use your points to redeem the AF, then you waste your entire year of collecting points.

For every RM15,000 you spend annually on your principal card, the fee for 1 category will be waived the following year. Refer to the table below for a more detailed breakdown:

I would say bank knowing you have sufficient point to be redeem for AF, that is the reason why behind.

Otherwise your point will be burn if you process to cancellation

sufficient doesnt mean i love to use it to redeem the AF mah, right?

i fine with the CS they provide all the while on first year.. this is my second year holding the card.

what i dislike are no AF waiver, during i applied the CS said we can request. but this unfortunately for me not entitle for it

2nd thing i dislike for the reward points card are Citibank already double up the redeemed point for an item, it really ridiculous..

now i looking for the replacement card with no AF from other banker.

Currently i am holding Premiermiles Amex. Suddenly I received sms regarding approval of my Premiermiles Visa Signature. I dont do any application for that. Credit limit is same since they are combined. What is difference between both cards, since they are also Premiermiles. I dont see any Premiermilea Amex on citibank website. That is why I cant do comparison.

The purpose i applied premiermiles amex at that time is using the access to PPL. But it is not applicable to KLIA2. This card will be charged annual fee soon.. so, if visa signature having same features, i will cancel this amex card

Hey guys,

I'm planning to get a CC and chance upon the free phone offer upon approval at RinggitPlus, which got me to wonder if it's real and legit or is it just marketing gimmick with empty promises and hidden catch instead?

Thanks.

It's real, we have forumers who got it (just read back previous posts)... I'm waiting for mine... But I'm not too sure if the promotion is still ongoing, initially ended on end of August, then been extended to end of September... Would suggest to give them a call for clarification? icon_rolleyes.gif

These 2 days citibank keep calling me. Yesterday ask me take cash loan. I straight away reject and tell him i gonna cancel the cc. He ask me y. I tell him citibank dun wan waive my af.

Today they called again twice.. but i not free to answer

I found that citibank sibeh scare their customer cc account zero balance. They will call u why u didnt use the card or ask u whether wanna take loan or not.

Next time if u all request for af waiver.pay all ur outstanding first. Make it zero in account. Then when call them ur bargaining power will increase. If they check u still got outstanding. They will offer u cash loan as optional way to waive the fees. If not they totally wont waive for u. When u threaten them u will cancel like me.. they will say settle all your outstanding first.

This way very useful for those af waiver.

This is not my case. Previously (about two years ago) I had a Citibank Cash Back Platinum. I was almost definite that I'll be going to be charged for AF and therefore, I have settled all my outstanding. Once AF is charged, I called to request for waiver but unfortunately, they couldn't do it and I requested for card cancellation.

The current Citibank Cash Back Platinum I'm holding is from my recent apply.

I have the same card as you and I just applied that.

Which mean at the 11th month I shall call citibank to ask for waiver. If they cannot do this then I will just mention to them that I wanted to cancel the card.

If not once the AF charged we are oblige to pay right?

Got my Citi Premier Miles Visa a few days back.
Quick question, is Kuching Airport the only place that I can access the domestic lounge? Others all seem to be International only.

I frequent KK and Kuching for work on MAS from KLIA. But it seems that I won't be able to access the Premier Lounge in KLIA and KK. Sad

Guys, please do not waste your time on AF waiver related issues. I have been posted many times in this thread. Citibank is one of the bank which will
Not waive your AF. They will say wait the AF being charge first and request again (it is a trap as once you spend on the card after AF being charge, you are oblige to pay!). Or some cases they will say put in balance transfer then we can waive for you etc. basically there are lots of terms in order for you to waive the AF. My conclusion is the AF is very very very difficult to waive. Please cancel your card early if you are those who not keen to pay AF.
My spending on the platinum card ( to redeems points) up to around 50k per year but they ask me to waive with points last year. There are so many good cards outside, please don't waste your precious time! My sincere advise.

Anyone knows if there is any penalty for full/early settlement of 0% installment (aka Citibank Easy Pay?

I know for the FlexiPayment (where we convert transactions to installment with interest) there will be a penalty but what about those 0% installment directly from merchants?

Unsure with the charges. If I could recall correctly, there's an option to select to activate the Citibank Ready Credit, would suggest you to call CS for immediate and accurate information thumbup.gif

How about the daily interest incurred on the outstanding amount? Should be 18% p.a? Or not also roughly 6% p.a right?

Regarding the CT AF, i have been using CT CB Platinum for 5 years and yes they will charge me the AF every year BUT I can get it waived by calling the CS and requested for it to be waived. I believe there are some T&C on it which how much you use the card might be a factor but never failed to get it waived, yet.

However I am testing my Maybank2Card Amex (Visa still on my CT CB) and see how much CB i can earned compared with CT CB. (damn they just de-valuate the Treats Point as of Aug 2015). Previously its 12,500TP for RM50 CB. now its 20,000TP for same RM50. A 60% de-valuation!

Just get Citibank Choice, the only Citibank card without annual, no conditions attached. I only use my Citibank card for discounts at shops and restaurants. Have not used it for 6 month or so. Haha, but nothing to worry as well. biggrin.gif

Anybody try to waive citibank clear card annual fee? I've tried to contact call center but they didn't waive for me instead of using points. For past few year, they just waived for me.

The CS that took my call said... i need to spend min 3000 for the past 3 months, then they will waive...

which i didn't... guess it's time to cancel...

from my point of view... relatively good bargain for ppl like me who is very very very very far away from getting visa infinite or world mastercard kind of person.

those VI and WMC gives 50% if two diners, 33% off if 3 diners, etc...

citibank gives all card 35% off, even people like me can go makan. of course, be prepared to spend, even at 35% off.

Are you guys aware that Citibank charges 0.848% fee on the amount swiped if you use Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) to convert foreign currency to MYR at the point of sales when you're at overseas?

i saw this in my latest statement.

didn't give it much thought because just assumed it is similar to the cross border transaction fee. except this fee is also applicable not just online, as well as if i convert at merchant when i'm overseas.

No, you don't need to. They serve a Japanese set meal with salad buffet bar. But if you are there before 11am (if I remember correctly), it's a breakfast buffet, no Japanese meal.

You just present your card before you enter and they will seat you and serve you the meal or invite you to the buffet.

put yourself in the shoes of a citizen of that country.

if you spend on retails, that's local retail transaction for the local. But because your card was not originated from their country, it is considered as 'overseas' transaction.

Make sense?

Recently made a purchase from a florist using Citibank. The transaction was not given reward points and after some checking, it turned out that there is such a rule as in 3.3 (l) in the T&C. I thought all retail purchases are entitled to points or cash back and was not aware of such T&C before.

3.3 To avoid any doubt, we will NOT include the following items in the calculation of RP or
PM:-
(i) for Cards:
(a) transactions made on Flexi Payment Plan, Cash Advance, Dial-for-Cash, Easy Pay (EPP), Balance Transfer or Balance Transfer via Instalment Plan;
(b) payment for Card account, annual fees, interest payments, late payment fees or charges for cash withdrawals;
© refunded, disputed, unauthorised or fraudulent transactions;
(d) government service tax and other taxes imposed by law;
(e) any form of service of miscellaneous fees;
(f) premium for Credit Shield or Credit Shield Plus or any other credit insurance;

From my view large amount spending basically being excluded from point reward.

The florist transaction was my first encounter on such exclusion. All my other retail transactions always get points from Citibank. But looking at the T&C, there may be quite a number of possible transactions that will not get the points.

I have had the card for 2 years, but unsure whether these T&C are newly revised or already in place originally.

Hi there,

Need your kind input there.

Citibank Premiermiles credit card holder can enjoy free limousine ride from KLIA if I were to present 3 sales slip ( in foreign currency).

I will be arriving at KLIA 2 and take LRT to KLIA. Am I eligible?

I'm Citibank's card holder since 2008. I had Choice and Clear cards (already cancelled) and now am holding its Rewards Platinum. IMHO, it may have something to do with the time/period you attach to the bank.

Of course, "giving business" to them is important too. I did balance transfer for a total of about RM10k to Citibank and now I need to pay back the principle+interest on monthly basis to them in 3 years. moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif

if it makes you feel any better, these kind of 'gifts' aren't really 'gifts' as well.

places like these give complimentary trial as part of their 'marketing'. i once signed up for complimentary facial trial through maybank...

Make sure you are holding CTB VS and not AMEX as CTB have revoked the free limousine ride for AMEX.

The redemption counter is after you clear the custom before arrival gate. I doubt that the guard will allow you to enter the gate but you could try and feedback here.

Hi guys.. I want to ask.. It is possible to downgrade the credit card.. I was tricked to upgrade my credit card last time, when I'm actually rarely use the credit card. Now, I'm feel regret because the annual fee is a lot more expensive and I can't cancel the credit card either because there're still many debt in it..

When I cancelled a couple of months ago, the CS keep saying mine is not entitled for waiver, its a Cash Back Plat.

When I asked what is the criteria, was just told they have a system to analyze and says system shows not eligible, asks to take personal loan or downgrade

call in to request for a waiver, I wouldn't use the card after the annual fee has been charged as it signals that you've accepted this term and as such may be liable to pay a pro rated annual fee even if you proceed with cancellation

I think it'll lump together with other categories.

If the lump sum is not more than RM 20, you'll get in the next statement.

All rebates will be credited (> RM 20) by statement date.

If below RM 20, nothing will be shown in the statement section but the amount will be shown under "CITIBANK CASH BACK PLATINUM SUMMARY"

If more than RM 20, it'll be shown in the next statement as "*CASH REBATE CREDIT"

All details will be summarized under "CITIBANK CASH BACK PLATINUM SUMMARY"

If you have Online Banking access, you can know the accumulated rebate at the time of login at "Total Available Reward Points:".

I noticed that Citibank credit cards are thicker than other bank.

I'm holding Citibank Cash Back Platinum.

You do not need to have saving account with Citibank.

You use IIFT from another bank's Internet banking.

i thought there was a thread on how to pay your credit card bills. i realise a lot of people still don't really get it.

Please note that your can pay directly to your credit card, like how you transfer from one bank to another bank savings/current account.

just need to transfer from your savings to citibank credit card.

i think most people dont know they can transfer money to CC, just enter the CC number when transffering from other bank

i dont know why people still go to bank make payment when online transfer only 11 cents for different bank, look for car park and all those time spend outside is much more than 11 cents smile.gif

done, cash depo machine, just nearby only citibank damansara perdana, free parking 10 mins

i saw GIRO, but then after 11am = transfer counted as next day (so better play safe to deposit via cash to prevent late payment fees)

btw, I just received my statement on 9Nov, and I saw the due date on 9Nov, whose fault would that be?

You're highly encouraged to use/subscribe e-statement.

I presumed you're referring to printed statement mailed to your mailbox.

quick question, i was told by the exec that i need to swipe 3 times within 60 days to get the first year annual fee waiver, so i was give 2 cards(cashback and signarure) - so in this case i have to swipe both cards 3x? or just one card will do?

issue here is, i have also the same amount of supplementary cards - do i need to swipe all which is 4x3? or just the swipe the primary will do?

what do you mean, given 2 cards? You only applied for 1?
two principal, each card 3x. read the product disclosure whether the supp cards have AF too and get clarification from CS whether need to swipe for supp or not.

You don’t need to ‘wait’ to ‘change’. Can just apply new one. Since you already have the Citibank cc, just keep it for awhile longer, as long as you don’t get charged with annual fee. It does come in handy for some promotions

If you try choosing any rewards and choose premiermiles for card type, it will says none found. I tried calling up customerservices, they told me very recently the bank changed the policy. So premiermiles is only good for airline mileage now. All these without letting customers know in advanced.

I see, you are trying to redeem rewards other than FFP and HHonors, then I have never done this before.

No problem. I believe there are certain criteria that needs to be met in order to get the AF waived. Their marketing department will analyze base on the criteria and flag in the system whether you are qualified for the waiver.

Retail Spending (Transaction) = All Purchases of Goods or Services (including all the Billing, Insurance, Quit Rent, Assessment Fee...) Charged to the Credit Card.

But, NOT Including : ALL Cash Advances, Balance Transfer, Installment Payment Plan, other Credit Plan, Annual Fee & Charges..

Yes. Citibank cc has lots of terms. What you mentioned is correct, a lots of transaction doesn't entitled for points (pls read the term carefully). I was being trapped in the past also. When I spend on UOB card, I get the uniringgit points. Means UOB are easier to collect points. Anyways, I am not using both of this cards now

I don't understand what the problem is? This means you probably didn't spend much with the card so why should they waive it for you? It's not like they're asking you to spend it in one transaction.

Previous years I got my annual fees waived. However this year Citibank made it quite difficult to get it waived. I spend average 4-5k per month and settle all in full every month. What should I do?

I just got the card approved and they are sending the card to me as I post. Just wondering, is there any place where I can get better reward for using citibank card? I'm getting the clear and shell card. Not sure where can I use the clear card to maximize profit.

Thanks in advance!

If you use choice card and spend RM99, you would only get 50 points. That's what CS told me when i ask about this card.

Where as clear card there's no such thing as above, and gets B1F1 on weekdays for CBTL and TGV on Fridays.

The downside for clear card there's annual fee whether waive able or not, i'm not too sure as I've cancel before the fee kicks in.

actually clear card is just a normal credit card with the coffee bean and movie watching privilege.

welll and also some on 3x points other stuff, bla bla bla

choice card is just normal card no extra perks except those for generic citibank cards.

if they don't waive the annual fee for clear card, then just cancel lo. no harm.

PS: i am using my clear card for the 2nd year and yes, they waived my annual fee.

i am also a Premier Miles card holder.
This year they charged me RM600, for previous years, i call to waive and they removed the 10k miles.
Now they said not possible, if i want to save on the annual fee, recommends me to downgrade to Citi Choice Card.

what type of card are you holding?
I have been with them for the last 10 years, holding their Premier miles, annual usage RM80k-100K.
They told me not possible to waive the annual fee.
