QUOTE(vandoren @ Aug 10 2015, 08:58 AM) just copy and paste the chinese name at Google translate then you will get the meaning. not enough, make sure he MUST click at another tab, i think its "more translation" to get more meaning out of it.this is how my husband (a banana) did it chinese words can get repitative with different meaning sometimes |

Honestly, i don't see the point of following the middle name anymore.
The ancient Chinese uses it as a way to find their ancestors or descendants and other family members related to them. My family has stopped following this rule since my father's generation. However, I understand ur predicament since my parents in law are still following this old school tradition. Anyhow, you can just ask those feng shui master to give you a list of names to pick from. Normally they will give you at least 3 to 4 options and they will explain why it's good. I am banana too. Last time consulted my father in law for my son's name. I didn't like it and I asked to change cause I don't want the name to haunt my son forever. QUOTE(vandoren @ Aug 10 2015, 05:58 PM) complex words can learn later, no need hurry Am ok with the word "hoi" but the 1 given to my son (by sifu) is "hoi foon".. kinda hard to call. baby boy? 海quite uncommon for name, my primary schoolmate name was 海全 (hoi qun) Of coz this name created for the reason to counter the kid's character (based on DOB). The name "Hoi Foon" to get the child to have a big heart (as if ocean) and forgiving (foon = foon shue; not the happy foonhei). But though I didn't pick this name, my child infact never behave kecik hati (quite generous in giving) and dun seem like can get angry at all. |

He end up writing English name on all his books except chinese subject. He told us that chinese writing is informal in this country, wait until his IC reflect those chinese character, then only he will start to write more (good excuse). |
