hey guys, looking for a gaming laptop here

1. Preferred Brand Any
2. Budget 3-4k [max is below 4.5k maybe?]
3. Usage gaming, light video editing
4. Preferred laptop/screen size 15+ would be good

your help will be very appreciated guys
also want to ask any good seller at malaysia with reasonable price?
thanks biggrin.gif

Bro, i'm a MSI fan here and you should look at either the PE-series or GE62 from MSI.

Both are under 4.5k with choices between 17' and 15' screen. GE62 has more upgradability with m.2 SATA but PE series is more for photo and video editors with their True Color technology that better color correction.

Found the old article here when they first launched it.

1. Preferred Brand : Any good brands

2. Budget : RM 10,000.00

3. Usage : Not so sure about the usage requirements, but the specific requirements are:
-RAM up to 16GB
-Good graphic card (equivalent to GTX Mobile version maybe?)
->500GB SSD (Only want SSD in the laptop for storage purposes, don't want HDD)
-Lightweight (Though I think it is quite hard to get a lightweight with high spec laptop)
-Touchscreen (Not really required, added value)

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : Not really big due to the requirement of lightweight.

Please give some suggestions so that I can review them, thanks!

Dude, with that budget and spec requirements then you better ask your friend to take a look at MSI GS60 & GS70 series.

GS70 6QE has the latest Skylake processor and GTX 970M graphic card for under 9k. Screen size is 17'3in FHD

Another option would be the GS30 with the docking. Comes with a GTX 980 (desktop GPU).

Dear forumer..need some info please..i saw this laptop at lyp n i think it got enough spec for my need and within my budget. The specs are

ASUS Transformer Book Flip tp500ln

Description: Intel i5-5200U Processor, 15.6 FHD 1920x1080(GL,LED) Screen, 4G DDR3 1600 memory, x1 extra Ram slot, 500GB 5400R SATA + 24G MSATA SSD, 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® 940M, USB 3.0, HD Webcam, 48WHrs, 3S1P, 3-cell battery, Windows 8.1 ready

Anybody have any xperience with this model. How bout the build quality. Really want to avoid facing the customer service for repair.

Or can you suggest me other model that have equal spec and within my budget RM2500.

Thank you
*
Really depends on what your needs are for that notebook bro.

The i5-5200U processor is a power saver so you'll have longer battery life but only good for office apps and surfing web.
The 500GB + 25GB storage looks like a hybrid so also good for quick startups but the 5400RPM HDD will be a little slower when launching files or software.
The GeForce 940M is the budget card for gaming but i don't think you want to play game on a Transformer Book right?? hmm.gif

Dear sifu, i need a laptop just for home usage.

Sometime play lite game , surfing net, excel & most of the time stream movie/youtube.

Saw a Lenovo G50-80 with i7 15"6 (free dos) for $1999 at lazada (not include discount yet) but the review so bad.

But today i saw this from 11street MSI i5 15"6 for $26XX.( exceed a bit my budget)

Is it worth to buy & how was performence..??

I owned a Asus A43S 2012 but the keyboard malfunction recently after update to Win10.

Try to recover back to ori win7 but stated need to wait for 1 month then only can.

Lazy to find my recovery disc..so decide to find a new laptop..

Kindly advice.

taiko!

the performance of the notebook will meet all of your requirements but gaming will depend on what games you are playing lah.

GP62 2QE uses the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 2GB DDR3 RAM so should be good for free to play games like Dota2, Fifa etc

Compared to the Lenovo G50-80, the performance will definitely be better since Lenovo is only using Intel i5-5200U which is slower performance to save battery.

1. Preferred Brand
Any brand is fine.

Budget
RM3500+. Not more than RM4000.

Usage
Typical everyday use + medium-weight gaming (Dota, Skyrim, Borderlands 2 etc). I don't mind running lower settings for improved FPS though.

Preferred
- HD screen.
- Decent speakers with clear in-built mic and low noise. Seems arbitrary but just want to put it out there.
- Don't need a backlit keyboard, upgradable RAM (provided it's already 4GB already) or matte screen.
*
Hey Arcisal,

For your budget you can also consider the MSI GE62 2QL @RM4,099 (slightly above your budget)

Intel i7-5700HQ
Nvidia Geforce GTX 950M, 2GB GDDR5
15.6" FHD, Anti-Glare (1920*1080) eDP Wide View Angle

Comes with Nahimic Sound Technology which has Virtual Surround, Voice Leveler and Noise Reduction so you can communicate with your team clearly.

Happy Shopping! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

hey bro, just to add on to the previous recommendation for MSI, you can also check your local IT shop and ask for the newer MSI notebooks with Intel Skylake processor.

Last i checked (always go disturb their Malaysia FB page.. hehe) they had the following spec for the MSI GP62 6QE @RM3,599

Skylake i5-6300H
Nvidia Geforce GTX 950M, 2GB GDDR5
15.6" FHD IPS, Anti-Glare

Comes with the usual gaming features from MSI and a 1TB SATA HDD.

It's a little above your budget but i think worth it since the GPU is GTX 950M and got newer Skylake processor.

Alternatively is look for dealer who want to let go old stock since got new model now.

Happy shopping! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Hi Tachlio,

Thanks for the recommendation!, but the link you gave shows the gs60 6QE. Both is indeed a nice laptop, and do you have any idea on when MSI is bringing it in locally?

hey fish, you can always go and PM their Malaysia FB page. Good to ask about information and find your nearest MSI dealer.

Please help me, i am coming from desktop. I dont really know what to buy, currently i am eyeing for anything with gtx960m, i will only be playing dota 2 at max setting. It really need to be constant 60FPS.

I am looking at Dell 7559 and Illegear Z5 so far. I dont really know what to choose from, i got skylake with dell but perhaps better cooling with Z5?? Which one should i go for?
*
Hey Rohan,

Just curious, why set your requirements at GTX960M? Cause usually a GTX950M will push out 1080p graphics at 60fps no problem. This website even benchmarks the GTX950M maintaining a 66.8fps average. cool2.gif
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForc...M.138026.0.html

anyways, you should also consider the MSI PE60 6QE @RM4,099

Intel Skylake i7-6700HQ
Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M, 2GB GDDR5
15.6" FHD IPS, Anti-Glare
DDR5 4GB RAM & 1TB SATA

A bit unrelated but this is a youtube video of a Dota2 benchmark at 1080p on the MSI PX60. Slimmer notebook with 950M but more expensive. drool.gif

Hi, my friend need some advice on buying a laptop

1. Preferred Brand : Any
2. Budget : less than 4k
3. Usage : Graphic and video editing, photoshop, illustrator, after effects .. all those adobe thing and ... not a gamer
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : preferably suitable for graphic design
*
Check out the MSI PE60 i recommended earlier.

It's slightly over your budget but the screen has True Color technology for accurate color representation. good for the graphic and video editing that you do.

it's a 15" FHD screen but supports output to 4K monitor so you have more workspace for your editing.

Can read more about the technology here.

Thanks, now I've narrowed my choices down to Cyberforge SM-15, MSI PE60, and of course the Dell 7559. But you're welcome if there are any other better suggestions. Anybody who had/have the SM-15, a review would be greatly helpful.
*
There's already a few reviews on the MSI PE60 performance. Most of them note the following features.

True Color Technology - for accurate sRGB color representation, anti-blue and different display profiles
Multiple Ports - 3x USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and mini Display Ports that output to 4K
Latest Specs -now updated with Intel Skylake i7-6700HQ

Not sure if prices are going to change but last was @RM4,099

good luck with your choices bro.

Btw, still haven't decided. MSI GE62 2QL or Asus GL552JX? What is the current price of both laptop? Or u still insisting me on getting Inspiron 7559? Seems better, 960M. Hnnggghhh

QUOTE(Skisz @ Nov 9 2015, 12:06 AM)
Is MSI really that bad? Im considering MSI PE60. Other options including Acer V Nitro because of the i7 processor. Might also opt for Dell 7559 but rn there is no stock and I urgently need a laptop.
*
Speedodevo, previous price for MSI GE62 2QL was around 4k but now MSI has launch newer GE series with Skylake processor.

GE62 6QC Apache @RM4,399
15.6" FHD IPS (+RM100 for the 17" display)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M, 2GB GDDR5
Intel Skylake i7-6700HQ
DDR IV 4GB
1TB (SATA) 7200rpm

One drawback of the Inspiron 7559 is that it doesn't support DDR4 RAM. Minor issue if you're going to continue upgrading your notebook in 2-3yrs but other brands like MSI already supporting with DDR4.
And Intel Skylake already supports 16GB RAM per slot so future upgrades can go up to 32GB! And 64GB! with the MSI GT72. (but then again only useful if you really need it)
