1. Preferred Brand - Japanese
2. Budget - up to max RM4000
3. Usage - work and casual gaming
4. Preferred
a) light weight less than 2kg
b) Removable battery
c) Reliability - lasting
d) Looks good is a bonus
Thanks so very much guys biggrin.gif
*
What games does your wife play? Most Fujitsu laptops come with Intel integrated graphic card only. If you wanna go for Toshiba, you can check out Toshiba Satellite U840W-1000 14.4" Ultrabook. It has ultra-wide 21:9 cinematic display. Good for movie with Harman Kardon stereo speakers. 1.57kg only and almost 4k. biggrin.gif

Hmm what if I get the Lenovo Thinkpad with those specs including these

a) Budget up to RM4k
b) Removable Battery
c) Light Weight

I think quite a number of thinkpads don't have a user removable battery too.
*
Yeah you can consider Dell. XPS is light weighted and good for work. thumbup.gif

decided to up my budget, 3.5k , gaming gta 5 and dota 2, a lot of movies.
Asus G551jw, im worried about the cooling and after sales service.
*
No comment on the after sales service. Asus used to be good in service but that was a few years back. biggrin.gif

As for the cooling, this laptop has no problem on idle mode. Temperature ranging from 45-50 Celcius. If you are a heavy gamer, opt for a good cooler pad. It will aid you in maintaining the temperature of the lappy.

If you were to look at just the GPU specs, GTX960M is the best you can get with your current budget and it is only available on this model. Hope this helps. biggrin.gif

1. Preferred Brand - Not particularly inclined on HP/Asus coz my last HP died on me/Asus well known for bad after sales in M'sia. Opens to suggestions if the product is good.

2. Budget - RM 3,000 for now. Unwilling to part more currently but if the argument is convincing enough, I'll consider.

3. Usage - Desk diving ( Excel, words, specialized software for accounting / related ), Entertainment ( Spotify, movies & related ) and mild gaming ( Rarely, but would prefer it to be capable to game, but least of my importance since I don't have time. )

4. Preferred -

a. Lightweight and sturdy built ( Move around a lot )
b. 14 inches preferred as 15 inches are usually larger and heavier.
c. Decent screen and backlit keyboard is a must. Don't care bout speakers as I am plugged into my headphones all the time.

Will add when I can remember.
*
You can consider this model. Around RM2.6k. However, there are models without backlit one. You have to reconfirm with the dealer before purchase. Hope this helps. biggrin.gif

Finally, something that is not Dell or Illegear tongue.gif

Am looking at this model but am thinking about after sales service of Lenovo.

Any review about that?

I heard it was terrible.
*
The after sales service is bad if compare to Dell/Illegear. A Lenovo user here. So far, only met a problem once in 3 years. And they took almost 3 weeks to replace the wifi adapter for me. sweat.gif
However, the laptop quality is still good imho, but still, there are complains abut lemon products. So, think wisely before buying yea. biggrin.gif

If you worry about the cooling & after sales service, try to avoid Asus.

Don't you know you can cook an egg with a Asus NB

If considering gaming & good cooling & after sales service, I would go for MSI. At least, most of their gaming nb got dual fan.

Never compare brand to brand but product to product. Which asus laptop are you comparing to the G50-80? hmm.gif
The G50-80 is quite a versatile laptop. Nice design, can do some light gaming, and consider quite light for a 15.6" notebook. But the battery life is kinda short. Less than 3 hours only. biggrin.gif

Hi,

Need help from sifus..

I go to digital mall looking for laptop with spec i5 5200 & gt840m.

Find this model 15-r208tx, the salesman said the spec is i5 5200 & gt840m. But when i google, spec for this model is i5 5200 & gt820m. When i tell the salesman , the salesman said this model using gt840m. should i trust this salesman??
*
Salesman may not know everything. Their main target is just to sell as much laptop as possible. You can simply check the GPU on the laptop. However, as far as the GPU is concerned, I suppose the model comes with GT820M only. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(nabzblitz @ Sep 5 2015, 09:06 PM)
Hi guys, can you all recommend me on a laptop?

1. Preferred Brand:
None. I do like the design of Lenovo's new laptops but no particular preference.

2. Budget
2.5k, but willing to go up to 3k it's worth it.

3. Usage
Web browsing, music making (using software like Ableton Live, Guitar Rig, etc), video editing (Sony Vegas), movies, light gaming (maybe just stuff like Dota2?), video calls (so preferably has good cam and mic).

I hope to get one with at least 3 usb ports, with at least 1 still using usb2.0 (because 1 of my hardware, audio interface Line 6 apparently can't work with usb3.0)

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
14-15 inches.

Thank you for any help sifus!
*
Lenovo Y40-80 DOS or Dell Inspiron 7447 DOS.

Both can perform well in video editing and music making but the 7447 can do better in gaming. Since you play D2 that doesn't require a high end graphic card to go on high/ultra settings, both are equally good for your case. Y40-80 webcam quality is better but 7447 has noise canceling mic.

Y40-80 has 1 3.0 and 1 2.0 USB ports only. 7447 has 2 3.0 and 1 2.0 USB ports. Hope this helps. thumbup.gif
