looking for a midrange / budget laptop with matte screen

unfortunately laptops found on this price range are mostly glossy reflective screen; glossy screens are bad for watching movies and also photo viewing

any recommendations for matte screen laptops? eyeing for Zenbooks but the processor mcm at 3rd gen i5 performance

Hi people, please help suggest lappie. I'm actually quite an ok desktop builder. I built myself a very high end gaming rig about 2 years ago for only RM5K. It implies that I have decent knowledge about computer stuff but it only applies to desktop. I'm hoping I can do the same for my laptop. But I think it will be impossible?

Questions:
1)Can a laptop be built like a desktop? Buy your own screen and parts etc?
2)Is it better to buy a low end laptop and then swap the parts yourself? To save cost obviously.
2a)If yes, is there any guide that you all have particularly liked and can point me to so that I can read it up?

2b)If no, please recommend me a laptop based on the following:
So, basically I want to get a Porsche performance for the price of a Honda - I don't want to follow the "pay peanuts get peanuts" rule and I'm willing to read up and experiment. I managed to do that with my desktop. Just not sure if it  will be possible with laptop...

I also realize that I can get away with a blank laptop as long the hardware is in place. I can install my own windows, and fix my own technical problems. I'm hoping that would cut cost no need to buy all those support and software.

i have doubts regarding the Core M, worry that it could even be slower than my current Vivobook with 3rd gen Core i5 3317

other than that, it is a pretty decent ultrabooks with superior finishing and FHD IPS screen

Personal experience, Lenovo offer cheap price for superior spec except few things you need to notice.
- Bad battery life, you forget to carry charger and you are screw. (gamer can ignore this)
- Bad HD screen, even sometime FHD is TN panel where color gamut are low. (gamer can ignore this)
- Easily get hot, typing are not comfortable. (gamer can ignore this)

If you like me using at home/office more with dedicated keyboard/mouse + external monitor OR once on a while carry outside using. Usually no problem buying them.

Need advice on any compatible models with following specs and usage. Considering getting 1 this coming holiday season

1) Processor: i3 or i5 (6th gen preferred, else at least 5th. ULV if possible since prefer less heat)
2) GPU: Nvidia entry level good enough as not much gaming/ graphics intensive apps
3) RAM: 8 GBs (will consider 4G if available slots for upgrade)
4) Storage: SSD at least 128G (256G will b ideal). Dun wan HDD
5) Screen: FHD matte type (if got bluelight shield even better) Dun wan TN panel type, no need touch
6) OS: Pre-loaded with Win 10 Home
7) Usage: Works related, movie, surfing, html based charting. No need for gaming
8) BUdget: RM2k-4k (most important is value for money)
9) Warranty: Must be good at heat dissipation, and reliable and responsive after sales support (heard Lenovo, Acer and Asus not as good as Dell and HP?)

Honestly, I have reservation regarding Illegear's laptop.

But honestly, those concern are pointless. Just spend a little, get a proper dac/amp and you can have the best listening experience on your laptop.

Onboard sound chip mostly all the same.

Get an audiophile grade with proper DAC & Amp for listening pleasure.
For work? Go get a Macbook Pro. It's overpriced, yes. But you will be happy you invested in one.

I am still using my rMBP for work purposely solely. It's strong, sturdy and have about a good 5~8 hours of battery life if you are focusing on work solely
