i looking for good after service because this laptop mostly bring oversea. Looking at dell 7447 but the processor is 4th gen only? Any other recommend?

there are 2 knd of acer v nitro... so gt dffrnt price.. dffrnt model. a lot ppl avoid acer cz thy assume 1 unit gv trouble thy avoid all acer series... dats da prob.. acer sales aftr srvce is not dat bad and nt dat good too.. jz so-so only..

mostly for work. and casual gaming like doto csgo hots.

i know some people will say 7447 is enough 

There are complains on this model. The temperature runs a bit too hot, the dedicated number pad is smaller, and the battery life is very very short. This laptop is only good for gamer and not for work imho. 

Hmm, didnt state that they increase the fan speed though. 

For me it is ok for the temp.

i dont seems to be able to find it on dell's website. What are their prices and specs again? Also, what about HP pavilion 14-ab020tx? any idea?

Y40-80 comes with an i7 but a weaker graphic card. GTX850M performs better than the Radeon R9 M275. More over, 7447 is equipped with an i5-4200H has a higher clock speed and higher GPU clock speed than the i7-5500U. If you were to focus more on gaming and reliability, go for the Dell 7447. The onsite warranty is more reliable. But of course, the battery life in 7447 is much shorter than the Y40-80. The JBL speaker in Y40-80 is better than the 7447 one. And lastly, the Y40-80 has a better look than 7447 imho. Hope this helps.

1. Preferred brand - ASUS, Dell, Lenovo (Basicailly just avoiding acer,hp,toshiba etc...)
2. Budget - 2k - 2.5k
3. Usage - University work, MATLAB all those. (Zero need for gaming)
