So last week, I was given the chance to review a couple of USB Type C cables, courtesy of INGfusion. The cables sent were of the same brand, but one of white and the other black version (The white one had a bit of an issue. Will be explained in the review section below). So this review will unfortunately only cover build quality and charging speed. This is due to the limited device to test the cable and also the device used can't be used to test for file transfer. Also, I lack the device to check the internal cable construction.

Alright, let's move on to the build quality shall we?

Short version : Love it! Especially since it's very very soft as compared to many cables in the market.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I'll start with telling about the shape of the USB A jack. The plastic shell has rounded edges on the shortest side and flat on the long side. Personally, I like this design as it looks very simplistic in design without the sharp edges that we all have become used to. The plastic is slightly textured. It helps to increase friction so as we can pull it much easier.
On the USB C connector, it's made of the same plastic as the USB A. The shape is similar to the shape of the USB C. This same design makes it much easier on the eyes in terms of design. This jack also has a textured surface, again to help increase friction to pull the connector.
The cable shield is very nice. It's about 3mm in diameter, so it's not too thick. Therefore it's easy to wrap the cable for storage. In addition, the cable is so soft to wrap around. As in the picture above, we see that it can be wrapped around a shaker, something stiffer cables will find a hard time to imitate. During the wrapping, the force due to the cable was very minimal, hence it was very easy to wrap that tight. Normal cable will exert a force that as if saying it does not want to be wrap that finely. As explained above, I could not check how good is the internal of the cable is.
In conclusion, this cable has very good design and material. Absolutely love it and wish that more companies will make something very similar, if not better.

The stock cable :

The black cable :

The white cable :
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9U...TWs&usp=sharing

Now for the main part of this review : The charging speed.
First off, I used the program batterymon to check the charging speed of this cable. This is due to the program able to monitor charging rate, even during sleep. Also, it gives a log file and also shows a neat graph to make analyzing much easier. The log file will be provided in case anybody wants to check the result more accurately.
Note that in some parts of the graph, you will see some sudden jumps. This is due to batterymon does not log the the battery charge when the tablet is asleep. However, it still logs the time taken for charging. When you encounter this jump, do check the difference in time of 2 points. It will show the time the tablet was asleep.
The device used for this review will be Chuwi Hi8Pro. Comparison with the stock cable is included in this review. All cables were tested with the provided charger which is rated at 5V/2A.
My test method is very simple. I only use the tablet to play KanColle, a browser game that uses Flash on the Chrome browser. This is due to the fact Chrome uses a lot of RAM resource and Flash uses a bit of resources. You may think this is very light use, but when I check my resource usage, the CPU usage hovers around the 70% and RAM at 80%. In adddition, the table's temperature hovers around 75C. So to this tablet, it's on the high side of usage.
Lately, being a China branded tablet, you shouldn't expect (not that I could get any) linear result. For example, my tablet usually kicks into power saving mode at 30% and at times at 5%. Therefore, only the rate of charge is the most trusted result, followed by charging time.

With that out of the way, let's move on to the testing result.
First, we'll see how the stock cable charges :
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

From this graph, we see that the charging starts at 7%. It charges very slowly, only managing to charge 10% in a span of 1hour 15mins of usage. This results in a charge rate of 0.13%/min. In the end, I let the tablet sleep sweat.gif When it was awake, I used it lightly with some more sleep until it was fully charged. This period of charging was about 2hours 39mins and the rate is 0.49%/min. The tablet needed 4hours 14mins of charging to get to 100%. The average charging rate is 0.36%/min.

Next we check the black cable of that was sent to me :
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

From this graph, we can see that the charging starts at 23%. Although it starts higher, we shall look at the charge rate instead. The first 47min of usage charges the tablet by 15%. This gives a charge rate of 0.32%/min. Then the tablet is set to sleep for 47mins. The tablet manages to charge 33% and results in a charge rate of 0.7%/sec. Then the tablet is used for 29mins and charges 24% to give a charge rate of 0.83%/min. The total time taken is 2hours 26mins (although the last 23mins the tablet stayed at 95% for unknown reasons). Therefore, we take 23% - 95% in 2hours 3mins. The average charging time is 0.58%/sec. This shows that the reviewed cable gives a higher charging rate.

Lastly, we check out the white cable. As mentioned, the white cable actually had issue. I know it wasn't intentional and I'm sure it's just one of those unlucky cables. I can assure that other white cables would not be affected by this problem.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

As you can see from this very very long graph, there are parts where there is a long straight line and some have a higher gradient. The constant straight lines are when charged with the white cable while the sloped ones are the black cable. This phenomenon is very weird and can only be explained by the probably faulty white cable. This shouldn't affect your judgement on the cable quality as this faulty may be a rare case and i was just unlucky. It is because of this I thought to skip testing the white cable and put this graph instead. Plus with the lack of proper equipment, I could not test for what is faulty about the white cable.

As a conclusion, The cable provided in this review is very good (the black one that is) in terms of both build quality, design and charging rate. I'd highly recommended.

P.S : I wanted to include a test by Benson Leung if he has a review on this cable. But I am not sure of what brand it is. But as of using it for the past week, It didn't blow my tablet up tongue.gif
P.P.S : Last but not least, thanks a lot to INGfusion for giving me the chance to review these cables!
