Im not sure about chelsea this season.

Looking at how well west ham played for the 3 points, i think they will make it thru the champ.

since last season i think ivanovic was exposed a few time by pacey and trickery winger. and last game it was more apparent. if it only a pacey winger, i think he can still handle it with his positioning and hard tackle. gary monk made a mistake when substituting montero with routledge. he thought ivanovic will further expose when he introduce routledge who is much pacier than montero but less trickier. but he was wrong.

i think the last game the worst performer was matic. he made back four exposed few times when he try to win the ball further up front. and he supposedly need to cover ivanovic when montero cut inside. but he was no where there. last season, in front of cahill is matic which will cover ivanovic when he makes forward run but last game he was no where there. leaving cahill alone to cover any counter attack through the right flank or the middle.

Iva has been lubuk for us for the past 3-4 seasons. The only back 4 that i kept complaining..always have this jogging, laid back attitude...which caused willian extra harder to cover his ground

The tibo red card u can argue it was willian fault for late/ sleeping with the defensive line.....but he wont be there if he does not need to workkk waaaaaaaayyy too hard to cover iva's ass

It is kind of reminds me malaysia team, where we dont have decent left back and left winger have to do extraaaaaaaaa job to cover that position

Btw: still thinking that mou's reaction abt the medic is a classic mou media game..he dont want to tiau his players that night publicly (actually we play quite ok),..hehehheeh

I agree w ichi..there is no need for panic button yet. On paper this squad is good to fight for championship...of coz u have to minus out form, injuries etc.

My concern is thin back line but i prefer if we can train ake and chalobah for the time being

I panickkkkk... its just the first game of the season where normally smaller teams perform quite admirably (queue london neigbour loss)...

anyway, it seems that terry wasnt like himself in the game or is it just early season jitters, most of the time he was on no mans land.

to put everything on ivan solely for the lost? nah its collective effort... who's supposedly covering his arse when hes upfield? normally it would be matic right? where was he? to me its simple we are too naive that we can steamroll swansea that day or everyone just have its off day.

actually i thought we were doing okay. just that iva was exposed by montero and needed willian to help. everything was quite ok until gomis got past our offside trap.

after tibo's red card, we still played ok with 10 men. not to mention, Swansea played very well actually. they tried to attack us kao kao at the Bridge and knew how to exploit.

Matic will be more responsible to cut those thru ball or penetrative run from centre i believe.
if matic starts covering fullback....it will be massive prob as there will be bigger hole in the centre ..sure sometimes matic need to move there according to the game flow as well.
(angle from the sides are smaller compared to centre whre u will be facing goal directly)

Flankers will need to cover fullback which is usual. Not blaming iva solely but he was weak against montero..not messi bro..credit to montero who is quite solid,....but imagine if it is ronaldo or messi, fuuhhhh

He need to step up, cant rely flankers as their main responsible is more on attacking.

Which is y only hajat got the license to become relax abit defensively

Have watched the last 20 minutes of the game via replay while we were down to 10 men, I think the performance was quite alright.
Do note also that we've only had like 5 pre season match this prior to the start of the day, and with all the traveling, quite taxing.

While Hazard was largely anonymous in the Charity shield, but when watching him the last 20 mins against Swansea, I thought he did pretty well with his movement.
Bring on City this Sunday, if we lose, at least it's still the 2nd game of the season...

fukken hilarious!

i posted in soccernet of my joy in seeing arsenal fans being very confident on this season. and i even mentioned i cant wait to see them fcuked their own season up side down later on.. i was expecting the usual meltdown but a lost at the start of the season after becoming the proclaimed pre-season champion is too hilarious for me.

Remember when Cech made that one good save for Arsenal and they thought they'd win the league, World Cup, Super Bowl and X Factor?
