Hi guys,

Just wondering, what audio codecs do you guys use on your mac??

I have a few music videos downloaded but there is no audio for it....only video....b4 playing the video, quicktime pops up and said it needed to download some software 1st (i presume this is the codec).....

OT a bit...
I downloaded the music videos using my BT machine (yeah, my windows pc has been downgraded to a BT machine) and i transfered it to my Macbook....my BT machine, as usual, couldn't play the music video at all.....

If i remembered correctly, this happened to nearly all my downloads recently...all cannot play at all using windows and only video from my mac, no audio...

Could this be the BT machine's problem or do i just need an audio codec for my mac??

AVI is jst another container for movie and audio...wht is in the container counts...

open it with vlc...then, click windows and select information...
then, choose advanced information...and choose stream 1...

u will c the codec...c if it is wma2...

the codec is a52

funny.......VLC seems to be able to play it but with a tiny problem(see below).....but not quicktime....why is it like this??

playing in VLC has this 2 diagonal line in the video....doesnt happen in quicktime...

Dude... i think divx doctor II can tell u wat codecs is in use... but for a52, go here... http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27300

the thing wit perian is, if u dont remove all the other codecs u had earlier, it may not work properly... so remove all the other codecs... reinstall your perian... restart ur machine.. it shud work... :-)
