WIP Sazabi
Progressing slowly sad.gif

Sazabi is the only kit I painted. Actually just spray the whole red/purple-ish color runner with Sazabi Red paint, since don't quite like the different red tone. laugh.gif

Using mr. mark setter do help, it extend the time before it sticks, can slowly adjust until satisfied.

thats not straight build... u color some of the vents gold... also it seems like you had frosting while top coating it...

QUOTE(D-y @ Sep 4 2015, 07:56 PM)
correct me if I'm wrong but I thought minor detailing is still considered as straight build sweat.gif
*
I also thought panel line and minor touch up and top coat is straight build... Maybe I'm wrong

Yeah, got frosting a bit, got too impatient when doing top coat...

what is the cause of frosting? So far i had been using semi gloss and flat for some occasion, kinda spray them all over my kits multiple times, but never encounter the frosting issue, the only time i have a problem is the time i spray it too close to the rifle and it form a gel like layer on the tips of the rifle, but manage to sand it away after it dry and recoat

cold air... do it when its sunny day.. dont risk if its sunny just after rain...

Just like nawar said, cold weather + high humidity. Well, lesson learnt (the hard way).

With his pals.

Usually you can remove frosting or flat coat (Mr. Hobby or other normal hobby spray) using enamel thinner.
*
Afraid the decal also comes out...haha.

But thanks for the advise, might do it when have time....not in the near future though.. laugh.gif

here is a little trick, just spray a light mist of lacquer thinner over the frosted layer. This will re-thin the coat n allows it to dry properly, u'll end up with a nice flat coating as intended. No nid to strip, no nid to re-coat, no nid anything else, just a light mist of lacquer thinner n voila.
*
TQVM for the info. BTW, lacquered thinner comes in spray form? or need to use those spray for ironing shirt? must buy hobby grade lacquered thinner? sorry, lot of question.

lacquered thinner comes in spray form - no. Thinner is meant to mix with paint, thinner in spray can form is counter productive to its actual intended use hence such a thing doesnt exist.

use those spray for ironing shirt - lol no. Hell if u can use those, AB maker can gulung tikar liao.

hobby grade lacquered thinner - yes, unless ur goal is to completely wreck and warp the plastic for battle damage then by all means go ahead with any ole hardware shop grade thinner.
the method i describe is purely for AB only.

Thanks, well, back to using cotton bud method. For now, just leave it like that.

just leave it as it is... its not that bad since its a white kit... any further attempt to rectify the frosting will likely do more damage without proper tools..  in space got frosting also what...
i see you strip the funnel decals... seems like you're not quite satisfied with the result..?
*
Yeah... Might just leave it like that.

What you mean by strip the funnel decal? I didn't strip any.

Ops, i just realised i uploaded the wrong picture. That one is before decal n top coat.

This is the correct one, can see frosting... But not too bad as what i saw with other people frosting problem...

Still dunno how it form
I once spray rather thick layer of coat, it end up wet and I dry it quickly with fan but then it turn out ok and no whitish frosting issue, guess I am lucky, better take more precaution with coating sweat.gif
*
Yes, last time also i coat at night/cold, but no problem. Might be new formulation of top coat. That time the spray can is smaller (blue color), the one i used that create frosting bigger(gray color), although same brand (mr hobby).
