What is Gunpla?

Gundam Models refers to plastic and non-plastic model kits depicting the mechas, vehicles and characters of the fictional Mobile Suit Gundam universe. These kits have become popular among anime fans and model-lovers, especially in Japan and in other nearby Asian countries since 1980s. The popularity of Gundam models increased in the 1990s with North America and Europe being exposed to Gundam through television, video and manga. These Gundam Models may also be called Gunpla (ガンプラ Ganpura?), a portmanteau of "Gundam plastic model". "Gunpla" more commonly refers to the practice of building Gundam models, rather than the models themselves.

Owh, I used the Tamiya Panel Line Accent Paint (http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/87131_133panel_accent/index.htm)
Then just wipe the excess with cotton buds. Used to use the gundam marker 0.05 as well biggrin.gif
*
The Tamiya Panel Line Accent is a pre-thinned paint
so if you somewhat hard to find this can grab a normal Tamiya enamel black paint and a Zippo lighter fluid to thin it

best alternative

i hate bandai!!
My actual plan is to collect HG Jegan, Jesta, Gm etc, but then they release this MG which is damn good looking....
if i'm getting this, i probably pair with this

imo, both have the nicest weaponry among other soldier type

stay away from this MG

Might need to wait for Gwing or GamersArena. Btw for P-Bandai, on top of that selling price of 5k yen, there are extra 500yen domestic shipping and 324yen handling as well, but it's on per order basis
*
I just done survey for local shop
seems like Crux Hobby have a better price for P-Bandai stuff
way better than Gwing and Gamers Arena

just curious, was there any news about what the next RG might be? hmm.gif
*
with Bandai releasing 3 RGs(previously 2) per year,
expect new RG will be scheduled on November/December

Bandai typical date of announcing new RGs should be 3 months before release
-announced on Jan, release on March/April
-announced on May, release on July/August
-announced on Sept, release on Nov/Dec

last year got delayed announcement for RG Wing Zero EW tho

yes crux are mostly cheaper.. but postage not at flat rate..
Toypanic also offer good prices for PO kits.. postage is free... but Toy panic dont keep stock that much for Gunpla kits..
GA buy more than 1 can just combine at flat rate ship.. if above 300 free ship.. normal MGs are mostly better pricing than most shop..
Gundam.my restock frequently, can even find older or not so famous kits as well..

there are other online seller that only hv FB ac as store, prices are good too depending on the stock batch... but this kind of shop hard to browse around.. they dont hv a list of current item and price... only update during arrival of stock...

at the end of the day.. i see everyshop hv their own marketing strategy to pull in customers..
for me i just hv to spend more time on price comparison taking into account postage fees as well..
and that means you cant just shop at 1 shop n be done with it to get a good deal...
*
so far I'm buying from Crux, the postage fee is not a big deal since they use Gdex
only cost Rm10 for 1st 1kg, add rm5 for additional weights
they do combine postage for multiple items so why not?

like you said I also dont stick to 1 shop,
Crux have a better price for limited edition stuff and the nearest store to me
Gwing preorder price is good but stocks arrive slow
GA price lots better for stock ready but I dont live in KL, have to deal with postage

lol its obviously RG have shorter torso even compare at right angle
plus with that slim legs no way it is looking good tongue.gif

RG win details, no doubt
but for proportion, HGCE win
head details wise, both looking good

now I see this, I dont feel to buy RG Freedom anymore lol

QUOTE(chyll2 @ Aug 12 2015, 11:32 PM)
I still cant find any advantage of the HGCE other than cost or ease of build.
*
solid, cheap, easier to build, made easier for custom kit bashing, even the wings looks like can swap on any latest HG kit
just there are RG kit available, doesnt mean its perfect

RG

it is at 600 yen so what do you expect?
plus SD is clearly aimed at kids, dont even need to use tool to assemble
only twist the part out from runners, assemble, put stickers, done!

stickers is for small detail part which cant get molded into separate part
the major part is already color molded
try compare '90 SD and currently SD, so much different

and I dont see anything wrong with it
perhaps you guys been spoiled by MG and RG greatness?
LBX,Yokai Watch, Keroro have lots of stickers and unpainted part too
but it is a great selling because it was targeted to kids in the 1st place

my concern about HG Super Fumina is how they gonna give us for eyes part..
sticker? or following Kotobukiya plamo aka water slide decal?

Hopefully they follow kotobukiya with the already painted face.
*
pre-painted = Gunpla will be not made in Japan
they will outsource human labor factory in China or Vietnam just for pre-painted face

Bandai wont do this to their main line, they are trying to make gunpla 100% Japan made
marking by sticker or decal is the only possible way

------------

anyway, November 2015
MG Gundam The Origin
4500 yen
we still got 1 slot left for MG
come on where is MG Ver Ka!

shield placement failed? I'm not talking about the upside down position
but the unstable attachment of the shield

Not sold if that's the final kit. The proportion is off, I hope they'll fix it like the final release of MG ARW.
*
thats not a proportion issue
Gundam Origin (codename RX-78-02 as supposed to be different design from usual RX-78-2)
was designed like that, keep faithful to original manga design
you will be surprised Origin manga have lots of bizarre mobile suits
lucky the Origins OVA anime somehow fix it to appeal more fans

take this for example
MG conversion and GFF which is almost same with upcoming MG

they even have a cute Core Fighter
