An update on the broken gearbox of my Preve Turbo. Have collected the car and driven it since yesterday. The noise from the gearbox is now louder, and also there is an additional (extraneous) whirring sound when accelerating the car around 2,000RPM with moderate force on the pedal. Not good . Will need to check with Proton whether the new gearbox needs time to break-in. At any rate, I do not think the weird sound from the gearbox will disappear with time. If the sound persists within the next few days, looks like I need to spend some time at the service centre again.

On top of that, there is now rattling sound somewhere on the left door of the car.
*
since 2 gearbox u having also got noise, maybe this is the standard behavior of the gearbox? some batch variance might have louder noise while some batch more quiet...

even the standard 4 AT car i'm having also emits noise at certain speed...

Guys, this noise is not normal. It is not the CVT whine or aeroplane sound which I can regard as normal. The sound I am getting now is something like a pipe releasing gas or liquid sound when you step on the pedal. The sound is something that is "additional", and it is not the CVT sound.

Maybe some other thing like aircond, turbo unit etc. Have you try to turn off the aircond see if the "liquid" sound still there?

Thanks sifu, I have get my preve change the brake switch at service centre but problem still occur and they say could be selenoid problem. Beside this I feel Proton QC quite bad as now my < 3 month old preve now auto wiper not working, car seat got annoying 'ngek ngek' sound, one of the wiper blade not install properly where it fly out recently during raining. I go back to service centre but they say better go COSE. I have booked an appointment with COSE to solve above issue.
*
did your windscreen scratched after wiper fly out? wiper arm direct whack to windscreen right?

For the Preve Turbo, it appears that there are quite a number of bad batches for the gearbox. After the new gearbox was installed on my car last month, they now suspect the gearbox to be faulty. They are now going to dismantle it for checking before replacing it with another new gearbox. Terrible.
*
u sure got the replacement gearbox? or they just do some simple overhauling internal parts replacement job, thus some imperfect workmanship causes those problem?

Just got my car back and it is confirmed that the transmission is replaced with a new one. Major parts replaced are as follows:-

T/M Assy Replacement (RM11,019.94)
Flywheel - Direct damper - DDF (RM1,012.71)

Other minor parts are the Assy CVT3 transmission, Tutela transmission CVT AT and bolts for dual damper flywheel.
*
the new cvt transmission pricing seems not expensive, cheaper than some traditional AT.
so how was it now, no more noise? i guess the flywheel thingy does contribute to noise too, after the transmission and flywheel replaced it should be good.

Last week, my SC 10.7L/100km. After almost 1 hour in the car idle, (with engine running) the SC increase up to 10.9L/100km.

Last 2 days, I tried to stay in the car (idle again), the SC increase to 11.2L/100km.

Wow, turbo cfe really makan minyak even though in idle mode? ohmy.gif

My preve is reaching 650km. Just a baby.
*
You meant Fuel Consumption FC? SC normally referring to Service Center..
btw, why would you want to left the car engine running idle for 1 hour, and doing in daily basis? You sleep inside the car is it? All petrol car FC sure increase cause the engine running but speed staying at 0, so more fuel needed to run for 100km.

contradict to petrol car, i found most people like to sleep inside their diesel-powered van (hiace, urvan), lorry. so i assume the diesel consume far lesser when engine running idle.

Hello Preve Owners

I am newbie here. I want to ask for opinion.

I am thinking to buy Preve. Using Viva makes me kinda skeptical about proton cars especially  preve because my viva is so nice to me. But i need a pace of change and thinking that preve might the suitable choice when come to budget and probably maintenance.

So, I got offer to take 2014 Preve with 8k discount. Is it ok buy a car which not able to be sold for almost 2 years?

What about the components inside considering this car might be idle and the engine not started for almost 2 years?

Do you guys have trouble with 2014 preve?

Does it come with 6 airbags?
*
if you really want to compare maintenance and fc with your current viva, i'd say bad choice. especially for turbo version, the engine oil and those maintenance parts such as spark plug, might be 50-100% more expensive.

if you compare long distance driving comfort bigger space, then preve is the choice.

Yes, but anyone knows about non-sensor wiper modes for preve?
I wish to disable this mode. It is not safe to use.
*
last time don't have this feature, ppl admire those expensive/continental car for this kind of "exclusive" feature.
now give you this feature, some ppl will complain "not safe" to use. in fact i dunno got this feature until saw somebody praise of this auto sensing wiper feature dunno from iriz or suprima forum weeks ago. doh.gif

Hye guys,

I am having problem with my car.

I left my car for two days during outstation. Once I got back, I drive my car and I notice the air conditioner is not working properly. It blows warm air, even after I turn the temp knob to the lowest. Before I went for outstation, the air conditioner working just fine.

1. I tried left the air cond ON for abt 10 minutes to see whether its getting colder, but not happened. Warm air still blows out.

2. I also heard the fans running, when I turning ON the air cond. Meaning the fans is working fine. Its also did not stop for a long time, which is suspect because the cabin temp did not reach the desired temp (temp knob), meaning my sensor is working.

I suspect the gas is out. Maybe from leaking or something. It baffles me since the change is so drastic. I did not notice any problem with the air cond before.

Is there any other possible root cause to the problem?

TQ!

either refrigerant leaked or the fuse box relay problem which someone encountered before, perhaps you can make a quick search.

i know a lot of people are complaining about proton preve turbo having a high fuel consumption for city driving. makes me wonder, why didn't those engineers at proton find a fix for this? don't they care about the petrol consumption?
*
the new proton ertiga manual already can achieve 19km/litre on pure city driving as reported by some forum member thumbup.gif

we're talking about preve turbo, not ertiga... it's just like telling me that even honda hrv gives better mileage than preve turbo.  bangwall.gif

yeah, you asked why don't proton engineer looking to fix the high FC issue... how to fix while preve turbo is already ongoing selling model? i thought they already come out the official plan for newer generation engine and also jatco gearbox. while waiting the transition, they utilise alternative engine such as honda accord engine, suzuki engine.
