Did anyone encounter this with your car? When I was parking my car this afternoon, switching from D to R, this time it is not the plastic silver piece that comes off but the whole gear knob that came off. First time I experience this sort of quality issue which is a laughing stock. When the gear knob came off, I put it back in but could not change the gears due to misalignment. I then pulled the gear knob back out and stuck it back in again and luckily can shift the gear knob as normal after that.

This is just terrible. I did not expect this to happen although I am aware that the gear knob on this Proton Preve Turbo is poor in quality.

Hi guys. I'm driving a Preve 1.6 Executive CVT Auto, which was bought around 2014.

Some background: I don't know much about cars (other than how to drive them  ) as previously I've been driving my parents' car, so I didn't give much thought about it. But early this year I've been driving my wife's car (just got married), and since I'm the one driving it most of the time, I think it's my responsibility to learn more about the car and take care of it so that it will last longer.

So recently there are some issues with my Preve which I find quite worrisome:

1. This happens sometimes: when the car is standing still and I step on the gas pedal, I can hear some sort of grumbling sound (like a drum roll) and the car will shake a little bit. When this happens, usually I will step a bit harder, and the car will suddenly lunge forward. There was one time I actually tried not to press harder and let the car continue grumbling, after a few seconds the engine actually died. Thankfully, I was able to start the car again. I complained about this issue to the mechanic once during service, but nothing has changed (not sure if the guy understood what I was trying to say though.)

2. This also happens sometimes: when I'm driving downhill (can't quite remember if this happens ONLY downhill though), the engine will suddenly start roaring as if I'm pressing on the gas pedal really hard when in reality I'm just driving 40-60 km/h. I have to release the gas pedal for a few seconds to make the roaring stop.

Anyone have any idea what's wrong with the car?
Or can anyone recommend me a place to get my car checked up? I live around Seri Kembangan.

Glad to know the second one is actually a feature! So do I need to bring it to SC and ask for clutch adaptation? Or is it something I have to do myself? Can't find much info online.

Also, I just reset my average l/100km yesterday after refuel, and after some driving last night and going to work this morning, I got 8.3 l/100km. Is that considered okay?

Has anyone encounter noisy sound(gluk gluk sound) when car is in idling or RPM below 2000. The sound come from engine compartment at passrnger side. I hv asked SC, they said it is normal for preve to hv that sound. Is it true?
