One week is no big deal.

OK, thanks.

Hope to be able to start the car on my return without calling Proton Preve (part of their customer care service).

By the way, my battery is 2+ years now. Like to know who has the longest running Preve default battery? Ha.

Anyone with more than 3 years?

With original Preve's battery?

What is voltage stabilizer, brand and cost?

Thanks.

I was pretty happy that I managed to restart my 2 yrs old Preve after a week out of town holiday.

But a week later, thing started to go wrong. Could not start the car yesterday. Called Wecare and was advised to remove the black cable from the battery, wait for 20 mins and reconnect the black cable. Did that, no success.

Wecare's local agent does not have 55D23L type battery (for Preve).

Being Sunday, difficult to do things. Waited till this morning. Called a shop and they have 55D23L battery (Aisha). Bought one with home delivery! Ha.

Started the car but could not change the gear.

Called Wecare and they advised to let the car run for 20 mins to fully charge the battery and then try to change the gear. Did that and no success.

Noted the shift lock at the top of the gear setup. Read the manual and tried it. The manual should be clearer stating to remove the top cover! I tried with a screw driver through the small hole! Later removed the cover, pressed on the switch and tried to change the gear. BOLEH!

Learning here is to reset the gear lock once the battery is flat. How come Wecare did not tell me to do that? Their standard reply is do this and that for 20 mins!

From now on, I will disconnect the black cable even if I am away from home for a week.

hi all,
about to buy new premium preve this month. after some thinking, whether preve or new persona, i decided to go for preve. am i making the best decision?

need some advise here...

thanx in advance..
*
My advice is to try test drive both cars, compare the spec, see which are the must have specs, then decide.

Good luck.

I am happy with my Preve for power, safety and size. Main negatives are the high front and back making parking and reverse unsafe.

yeah, those are the criteria i am looking for.. power, safety, size..
and it is a bonus if preve come along with reverse camera. any recommendation to add this feature?
if it is a plug and play unit, wont void the warranty right?
*
Just installed my reverse camera a few months back.

Good and bad.

Mine is the mirror screen type, not to the car's GPS etc screen. So not violating their warranty clause on altering the wiring system.

Managed to install the reverse camera without drilling a hole. If you look hard enough, you will see the holes for the back plate lights. Use that.

I got the camera system from a guy in KL and honestly, not a good seller partly the product is new to him and his after sales service is limited and lacking. Have to solve most of the problems myself.

One major drawback on the mirror camera type is the light reflection on the screen which makes it nearly impossible to see the image in the afternoon. I made a screen to reduce the reflection and is working quite ok. Suggest to get one where the image is still visible when under bright light. Heard those in BMW are a lot better on this aspect.

So, no drilling into the car body, no connection to the car's display unit, use only the cigarette plug. In my view, not violating their warranty clause. But don't blame me if they see otherwise. Ha.

Bad day for me. Went to SC to replace the faulty reverse sensors.

Tried them and they still beep beep with nothing behind!

Then came the bad news. The guy who removed the left sensor cracked the paint on the hole for the sensor! Sakit hati!

Let me cool down first before replying to you on the reverse camera. Sorry.

Really pissing me off with this SC, poor service quality.

Can one change to another SC for the 3 yrs warranty, iei not the same one I bought the car from?

If the SC had caused the damaged to the paint, then they will need to fix it back for you. Probably a minor touch-up at that area. Did you find out the damage yourself or the service guy revealed the damage to you?
*
I wanted to go home, reversed the car, noted the constant beeping, went in to see the SC guy. He came out and I demonstrated the beep to him. later we went back to the car to have a look at the new sensors. Then I saw the crack! I have taken photos of the crack.

The crack is like someone forcing in a screw driver and then tried jack up the sensor. Thought they should remove the sensor from behind rather than from the front.

Hope some sifu here can help me with this problem.

Sometimes when I start the car, it will not start, brake pedal is elevated, hard to press it down, after the brake pedal has been lowered down, then can start the car.

Why?

How can I avoid this?

Thanks.

My Preve Turbo is 2.5 yrs old now. After picking up my kid from school, the fan kept on running, non stop even after 20 mins. Yes, fan will run for 1-2 mins to cool down if turbo is engaged.

Went to SC and they said fan rosak. Now waiting for a replacement.

Like to know whether there are other similar fan problem with Preve. Common design problem or just my car?

Thanks.

saw this in the past.. but not in my car yet.. i forgot already what happened and what have been replaced for this case..  it did happened

UPDATED: oh yeah.. found the post in fb group.. fan relay or fuse. they mentioned rm106 for 2 relay for mid and high speed.
*
Many thanks.

I am not an electrical person but I do wonder how replacing the fan will help in my non stop fan problem. A fan will run when there is a current through it. So most likely it is the relay which has failed to stuck on (if this is the right terminology).

Now waiting for the new fan to arrive.

Hope that the fan will not stay on 24/7 and rosak my new battery!

Appreciate feedback from those who are experiencing or have experienced this problem.

Now my auto screen wiper will cut in now and then even during sunny dry days.

I cleaned my screen yesterday and hope that will stop it.

Or is it some electronic problem in this auto setup?

Thanks.

try to adjust the sensitivity?!
*
Sensitivity is at its lowest.

Looked up the web on how it works. It uses LED light. On clear days, the light will be reflected back from the screen and the sensor will see most of the reflected light.

When there is water on the screen, some of the LED light will be refracted and thus less light will be reflected back to the sensor, thus telling it there is water (rain) on the screen.

Think mine is dirty wind screen. Did a better cleaning and hope no more of this annoying wiper activation. Ha.

Wife thinks it is related to when the left or right signal light is activated. Sometimes it happened when she activated the signal light but not always. Cannot be unless someone changes the program inside or some cross linking of the signal wires. Highly unlikely.

Erm if there's some watermarks on windscreen might trigger the auto wiper. Not dry completely or different temperature between inside my car and outside will create water vapor. Auto wiper will keep trigger and wipe windscreen
*
My suspect is some muddy water which dried up later and that caused the light to deflect rather than reflect.

Testing it for the coming few days and see whether my super clean wind screen is doing the job. Ha.

With Geely taking 49.9% in Proton, wonder what can we expect with Proton's services from now on.

Hopefully, for the better. Normally, though I am a Chinese, I worry about China's product/service quality. But from my Mate 8 Hua Wei, I am very impressed with it. Hope that Geely is at the same par in the car industry as Hua Wei is in the mobile industry.

I need some figures to show my home minister the difference in power consumption between using the air fan and using air cond in the car. Tried on the web to get the elect kw figures, no luck with Preve. If you have some data, please share. Thanks.

* air blower
* air cond compressor
* air cond cooler

My gut feel is, running the air cond will use 10X more electricity than just the air blower.

This boils down to the need to switch off the air cond before stopping the car as otherwise, the auto air cond startup on starting the car will drain the battery.

Thanks.

Over the past few months, on getting out of the car, noted more petrol smell (especially after topping up the car on that day or day after). Thought it was I did not close the cap fully, My last check, yes, it was fully closed. I normally close it till one can hear the click sound.

Any one facing similar problem?

Any advice if I am not closing it properly or what is the next step I should do?

Thanks.

Went for my 3rd year service.

Learnt one thing which most people would have overlooked.

They followed the 3 yrs service list from a Proton calender like list. I did a cross check with the list in our manual and noted that the air cond oil change is not in their list. Asked the service guy and was told that I need to bring my car to an air cond shop to change the oil.

If I did not cross check, I would have thought they changed all the items in the 3 years list.

Expensive 3rd year service change, RM1000+!.

Mainly due to the turbo parts (spark plugs etc).

Now my car feels smoother and more powerful. Ha.
