I already stock up on factory TRW pads. Haha, take from people who upgraded their brake pads. I just need to fit it in once mine finishes.

An update on the broken gearbox of my Preve Turbo. Have collected the car and driven it since yesterday. The noise from the gearbox is now louder, and also there is an additional (extraneous) whirring sound when accelerating the car around 2,000RPM with moderate force on the pedal. Not good . Will need to check with Proton whether the new gearbox needs time to break-in. At any rate, I do not think the weird sound from the gearbox will disappear with time. If the sound persists within the next few days, looks like I need to spend some time at the service centre again.

On top of that, there is now rattling sound somewhere on the left door of the car.

I paid 500 for the front set which i feel is not worth it..if i get to choose again i would do outside for less than 200..basically u lose warranty on the rotors only

May I ask at what mileage do you change your front brake pads? Above 40,000km?

since 2 gearbox u having also got noise, maybe this is the standard behavior of the gearbox? some batch variance might have louder noise while some batch more quiet...

even the standard 4 AT car i'm having also emits noise at certain speed...

Guys, this noise is not normal. It is not the CVT whine or aeroplane sound which I can regard as normal. The sound I am getting now is something like a pipe releasing gas or liquid sound when you step on the pedal. The sound is something that is "additional", and it is not the CVT sound.

With the previous gearbox, the sound is different, and it happens only when you accelerate from standstill. With the new gearbox, the sound comes up when you accelerate from RPM2000. When the RPM is around 2000 and I step on the pedal, I will hear a noise that sounds like gas release from a pipe.

I was hoping that with the new gearbox, I will now have a completely new car but looks like I am now driving a partially defective car. Also, there is now rattling sound from the left door which previously wasn't there. The perils of leaving the car at the service centre for prolonged periods (2 weeks). Bad.

I am now trying to get the service advisor and have attempted to call him 3 times but couldn't get him on the line.

Maybe some other thing like aircond, turbo unit etc. Have you try to turn off the aircond see if the "liquid" sound still there?

Thanks for the response. Did you change the brake pads after the you were told by the service advisor that the pads are worn, or after you detected a deterioration in the performance of the brake pads?

They told me change..if i refuse or choose to outside they will void the warranty for the disc brake as well..but taking into account the super expensive brake pad price might as well do it outside.I was too naive at that time
