QUOTE(lOrDjAbU @ Aug 22 2015, 10:25 PM) I think I can afford the CFE version but I'm afraid that I have to pay a lot for maintenance since there are lots of things that can become faulty like for example the push start button. I read from the Internet that CFE tends to be more problematic and might need to stay at SC for extended period of time. Hardly heard of push start button issue. My CFE doesn't need any repairing. It was a peaceful ownership for almost 2 years already. |

I just confirmed back with the seller that I want to stick with my original choice which is CFE. was having doubts today after reading reviews from the Internet. after thinking for hours I decided to choose CFE because of all the safety features. All depends on how you take care of the car. I too was surprised to read many bad user experiences here, but I've owned my car for two years and it is still a very good car to me without any deteriorating performance or safety issue, albeit the 'Proton-synonym' issue like rattling and noises.anyway what about the fuel consumption of your preve? CFE right? |

hmm I just saw latest brochure of preve. looks like all the safety features are available in the non CFE as well. God damn. as such, there is no reason left for me to buy CFE. I don't need that turbo engine, I don't know how to use paddle shifters, push start button will only give inconvenience especially since it can become faulty, I can just turn on the headlamp manually, can use phone as GPS, can change air conditioner manually, can turn wiper manually, and can apply tinted windows at workshop. I don't think all that warrants the extra 10 K.
I myself am a very careful driver, no reckless driving (will definitely not reach >120 KMph, no potong memotong except if there are much slower car in front of me which is drived by uncle or aunty), and i will only use the car for city drive (95%). my logic was: why pay more for things that I won't use regularly. somemore, can save on maintenance cost as well since the parts for non CFE kind of cheaper. let's not forget that there are more electronic thingies in CFE that can become faulty. please counter my arguments guys. thanks This post has been edited by lOrDjAbU: Aug 23 2015, 09:44 AM |

My signature shows my fuel consumption for my Preve CFE. 8.5L/100KM average. The range can vary greatly depends on style of driving.anyway what about the fuel consumption of your preve? CFE right? Yeah if you are very sure of what you need (and what you don't), then you are better of making your own choice.I myself am a very careful driver, no reckless driving (will definitely not reach >120 KMph, no potong memotong except if there are much slower car in front of me which is drived by uncle or aunty), and i will only use the car for city drive (95%). my logic was: why pay more for things that I won't use regularly. somemore, can save on maintenance cost as well since the parts for non CFE kind of cheaper. let's not forget that there are more electronic thingies in CFE that can become faulty. please counter my arguments guys. thanks |

These do not need regular maintenance and Proton is now offering 7 years across their whole range. Other parts are totally the same, CFE or non CFE.somemore, can save on maintenance cost as well since the parts for non CFE kind of cheaper. let's not forget that there are more electronic thingies in CFE that can become faulty. please counter my arguments guys. thanks The only thing to be sure is to test drive both cars many times |

Right...my wife Preve CFE is 2 years old n had no serious issues as reported by users here : seats need changing, vibration on dashboard, engine mount issues, gearbox problem etc etc. Only issue was minor squeaky noise at back which was corrected in initial days at service center. Till now no more such noiseWe are very glad with the car for its price. We don't push our cars hard n we drive it casually . Petrol consumption I deem satisfactory - in town around 600km n continuous outstation w half on highway about 800 km |

Stock spark plug is iridium for CFE, normal copper for IAFM.The only thing to be sure is to test drive both cars many times Although one can use Mach 5 mineral oil for CFE too, but to safeguard against turbo coking, full synthetics are recommended. |

Yeah like I said they do not need regular maintenance (as in every time the car is sent for service). Other than these 'per 60k km things', there is no difference in the maintenance cost between CFE and non CFE.Although one can use Mach 5 mineral oil for CFE too, but to safeguard against turbo coking, full synthetics are recommended. |

Just came back after my 1st year service. Now switched from S 1000 to S 800.
The SC did not do the car body check. They don't know how to do that! Where do you send yours for the annual car body check? Hope that mine is not too late as it will void the car body warranty. Thanks. |
