Hello to all. I've been using my SP3 for 11 months now, and following this forum for just as long. Sorry if I didn't post much.
Anyway, I have a problem with my SP3. (It's core i5 with 8gb ram) The screen sometimes suddenly goes blank, usually when I'm watching a video. The computer is still running as the sound still plays, and it still registers touch input. But the screen just stays blank despite turning off and on. It only comes back on after I hard shutdown and turn it on about 30minuts later. And it takes longer than usual to turn on. Stress sometimes when doing work on it and lose my stuff.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any solution? Was thinking the problem would be resolved with windows 10 but it hasn't despite all the recent updates.
Or any suggestions where I can send it in for a technician to look at?

Haven't reformat yet. Wasn't too sure whether hardware or software issue. Was hoping software issue which would be resolved with updates. Shoukd I reformat it?

Try reinstall display driver?
Or did you do windows update lately?

I've been installing all the recent windows 10 updates. But this problem had started even on windows 8.1 pro. Only recently I feel it's been occurring more frequently.

definitely can. But it really depends on your usage, some people said that they only get 4~5 hours. Similar to my old surface pro, people say they only get 3~4 hours, but i usually use up to 7~8 hours. Turn of bluetooth, brightness low will actually help a lot.

No gaming, no windows update, use edge for browser sure can

Microsoft claims that can up to 9 hrs ... if really can last that long tiok very good for me as my current laptop can only last around 2 hrs for light usage, its annoying as i need to "hug the wall" frequently and troublesome when theres no power plug around

Youtube will reduce battery life quite fast also
Normally we won't optimize our battery usage for normal laptop
but yeah you can find few battery usage optimization guide in google or reddit
