Hello guys , I'm new here 😊 I have some problem and a lot of concern now ,hope someone can help me 😭
Yesterday I bought a new laptop at Harvey Norman ,
which is Acer Aspire VN7-791G-78SG. I'm a interior design student now , is it a good laptop for me to use it to design ? I have done lot of research about the laptop requirements for design student, and yesterday actually I just want to take a look at Harvey Norman ,but then the sales girl introduce me a few laptop that reach the requirements tht I searched online , and it seems very nice and suitable for me , so I bought it .

But now a lot of concern comes to my mine , izzit really suitable for me ? I think I'm a bit too urge to buy it without done any research at other shops.
And another concern is , the sales girl push me to buy the extended warranty , and she said that other than free repair , they also offer a free upgrade for me if there's any upgraded system or software or what in the future(I'm a bit blur about this ). Means they will replace a brand new upgraded laptop for me if my laptop spec need to upgrade . Izzit real ? Harvey Norman really got this great offer ? I feel like I'm cheated by the sales girl now 😒 and found that there's lot's of bad comments about Harvey Norman extended warranty service after I bought it ...

The laptop is quite expensive , I don't know what to do now 😭

hope someone can help me solve my concern 😒

both

the Nitro is not a bad laptop per se , just not as cool as it's competitors (temperature), it is cheaper though
and Harvey norman usually sells at more expensive prices compared to most IT shops....since they're technically a furniture company.

there's nothing to regret.
their warranty service is really good actually compared to the cheaper but un-reputable shops. if you are spending that much, you would want a peace of mind. personally i had good experiences with their warranty services and wouldnt hesitate buying from them again despite a slightly higher price (once again, peace of mind)
for you to be asking this question here, it kinda means that you would need the extended warranty as well.

The laptop is good for a interior design student like you IMHO. An i7-4720HQ with 8gb SSHD should suffice to do your assignments and projects without problem. Specs wise, good and decent enough. Do not be upset about making a mistake, since you cannot change that now. thumbup.gif

The price in Harvey Norman is surely more expensive compare to other computer shops since they are not computer based shops. You spent more than RM4K for the laptop I suppose? But do remember that you get what you pay for. Much like everything else in the market, if you pay peanuts, all that you're going to get are peanuts. (Quoted from Pandera999) tongue.gif

It's always good to have an extended warranty for your laptop if you plan to use it for a long period of time. Since you are still a student, this laptop is definitely good enough for you for to pursue your tertiary education without problem. By the time you graduate, you will yearn for a better laptop already. whistling.gif

I've actually had pretty nightmarish experience dealing with their customer service department when trying to claim the warranty on a pair of PC speakers. First off, I was told that the repair would take two weeks to complete. This then dragged on to about two months without any progress. By then I had ran out of patience and asked for a direct refund. Even then, I was made to endure a tonne of technicalities and red tape (and another two weeks) to finally get that refund...

Isolated incident? Maybe. But Malaysia definitely has a long way to go to reach the customer service standard enjoyed by developed countries.

yea I really need the warranty that's why I buy it . I'm okay with the price that slightly higher than other shops , I know they deserve the price. I'm just too easy to be influenced by the others bad comments about them. (concern abt the money is wasted on bad service )
Thanks for your sharing !πŸ˜ƒ
I feel more confident now and I found that there's no point to regret actually πŸ˜‚

you might want to check the extended warranty from acer itself instead of harvey. extended warranty from harvey, i believe they might send it to those third party repair shop like those at imbi or lowyat too.

If you have any clarification, ask for Michel. Normally it pays to talk to their supervisor or higher. But Harvey Norman is one of the better place to by actually. Better than Best Denki.
