Hi,

i'm looking for a good .wav file to midi converter. Been struggling to find a good one online. Tested a few but all came out as terribly jumbled sweat.gif

Does anyone have a proven software to recommend?

it's only needed for 1 sound : piano

Thank You smile.gif

Oh! maybe i didn't mention clearly wat i actually wan in my 1st post. 1000 apologies blush.gif

Thr are certain youtube vids tat i like very much, but unfortunately, thr r no music sheet available online.

so 1stly, i use a youtube to MP3 converter software to obtain an MP3 file. Easy.

2ndly, i use another software to convert MP3 to .wav format. Again no issues. the sound quality is maintained.

3rdly, i'm looking for a reliable software to convert frm .wav to midi. Herein lies my problem sad.gif . After every conversion/transcribing process, the midi sounds way off sweat.gif .

4th & final step : i oredi have a software called 'midisheetmusic'. it converts midi files into piano sheet music. i've tested it by inputting some ready made midi files (of other samples) & it comes out alright.

unfortunately i can't get past step 3. the filtering process leaves much to be desired where midi converters are concerned. & i'm only converting piano sounds ( a single instrument ). not even trying to convert drums or a whole orchestra + singing into 1 midi file.

looks like the best u can do would be to clean up the extracted midi file in step 3.

what softwares have u already tried anyway?

quite a few free trial ones actually. i only used the default settings to 'clean up'. i'm not a professional u knw blush.gif

heck, there was one software that was so bad, tat i tested it by putting in an original midi file & after conversion, it sounded worse rclxub.gif !

i might just b tempted to purchase digital ear like one of the posters mentioned above.

zenix , the one u recommended only gave 15 secs. too short to assess. i tried the demo ver 2 wks ago. thanks anyway smile.gif

If the result is good/near accurate u could just split your mp3/wav to 15 sec each to get a full song smile.gif
