Hi,
Friend of mine got job offer while she is pregnant. Is it illegal not to tell interviewer she is pregnant to get a job? My friend got a job as lecturer. Her expected date to delivery is on the end of october. While checking at her roster, at that time, student will be on semester holiday means that she doesn't need to lecture at that time while she deliver her baby.
She will tell the management that she is pregnant on the first day she start to work.
If you are the management, will you fire her after offer her a job after know about her pregnancy? In this situation,do you found her as a cheater not to tell interviewer about her condition?and mangement also do not ask her about that.

Actually it's not illegal, but for the sake of your friend's future in the new company it's best to be honest and tell them the truth.

She would need to go for medical check up before joining the company/uni right? And that would include x-ray which she should not do because she's pregnant and the doctor would state that in her medical repirt and send it to the uni..
So it is best to inform them

QUOTE(jamesteoh8177 @ Jul 29 2015, 08:26 PM) Couldn't agree more with U... Honesty is de best policy... Yah, it's the best. Same thing happen to a friend of mine. During the interview she didn't knew she is pregnant, she even go for the medical exam with x-ray. Only after that a month before joining she found out about her pregnancy. But when she told the company about it they aren't happy and started to make issues with this. In the end she didn't go for the job and maintain with her current company. So it's best to go upfront during the interview if you're pregnant to prevent any unnecessary incident.

Yea, some company are a plain a$$holes. In the US we can actually sue them for discrimination but I don't think we got such rules here. Perhaps she could talk with her current company to retract her resignation letter.

I'm being transferred to another department because I have a child. Kinda like being put on cold storage. And mind you, my job isn't exactly "BUSY" all the time, just that my boss prefer someone who does not takes time off when child is ill. Which can happen a lot in the baby's 1st year and especially if you send your child to the nursery.
