new comer in this thread, please add me in
Riding a 10 year old EX5 classic with electric starter. (from my dad)

EX5 is pretty great, half throttle can reach 100kph on Penang Bridge (but damn scaryyyy, feel like floating in the air tongue.gif ). Usually I'm doing 80kph on coastal highway about 1/4 throttle, the speed is just nice wink.gif

So far no modification, just changed to the widest tyre supported, using fully synthetic Esso engine oil and V-power.

Just wondering if there is any options to change the braking system? I would like to have a disk brake at the front wheel tongue.gif

old ex5, no doubt a good bike. sold my ex5 because no pickup anymore. have to change to new bike sad.gif the plate was WFA. dunno what age already that bike.

The pickup from 0 - 60kph is good enough (when riding alone la tongue.gif), but beyond 60 is a bit sux. my plate # is WFR, 10 year old ady biggrin.gif

Lesson learned:
Check break to see whether it works properly before going out...
Speeding is dangerous when making turns...

So glad i'm saved now, just suffering from the pain...
I nearly pengsan 2 somemore, once at the crash site, one at clinic....
*
Hope u recover soon dude. I had a bad experience too. A few months back, when i was travelling at quite low speed (abt 30kph) and wanna cut a Wira from the right, the car suddenly turn right. Luckily predicted it might turn bcoz in front car going slow and at the wira's right got a bit of space to overtake car in front.
So when i brake super hard, the front brake line putus..... nearly bang into that car....scarry. That's y i plan to change EX5 brake to stronger one although looks a bit rempit laugh.gif

That 'floating' feeling can be solver. You can change to harder absorbers. My fren did just that and the floaty feeling is gone thumbup.gif
*
thanks for the suggestion. I guess the floaty feel not only caused by absorber, but also the Givi box behind the passenger seat and poor aerodynamic.
Well, maybe i should change the absorber 1st. AFAIK, only the rear one can change right? There is no upgrade for front absorber right?

haha, mine still look good too.
I particularly like EX5's engine, really smooth at lower rpm compared to a newly bought Suzuki Shogun 125 at home (i took my dad's EX5, so hv to sponsor 50% for tat new bike la tongue.gif).

To me, Shogun is damn powerful and smooth when the engine revs high, but at lower rpm, especially when going between cars in traffic jam, Shogun's engine is a bit jerky. EX5 engine? Smooth as silk !! The only thing i dislike is high rpm performance, always no enuff power tongue.gif
btw, full synthetic + v-power really helps in boosting high rpm power on my EX5 thumbup.gif Gonna faster finish the current V-power and try the red color one later biggrin.gif

Worst part is that the bike is not owned by me nia.....It belongs to my friend's uncle... Lucky he didnt mad when he knew his bike met an accident...
Now i have to pay for the repair fee...
So regret now...

oh... that's really bad tongue.gif

managed to caught the car...the driver came, with gf scared, asked for instant money & report L8,his car was tiny bent,my bike was ok,only the brake pedal broken & scratch, some coverset broken...my right leg & arm bleeding...1 week mc

Many cars are like that... never take care of motor riders as if the road is built for them only.

laugh.gif u seems lik very very lik EX5 tongue.gif same goes as me too biggrin.gif if u wan high rpm performance... u can alwiz mod abit headblock tongue.gif then u will really feel the power thumbup.gif

hmmm ... if u've driven lagenda b4... u will more biased to it whistling.gif  seriously lagenda is a damn good bike... u get wut u pay for... in original condition... lagenda oledi very very smooth... wan power got power... tongue.gif pickup aso even faster than EX5...
*
Hmm... i m js wonderig, what kind of mod police wont notice ar? I scared kena caught on road tongue.gif
Anyway, my fren got a new Lagenda 110, damn smooth the power and the pickup is very good, esp after 60kph. My EX5 barely keeps up until 60kph, and then die looo... hahaha.
How about Yamaha 135LC? Plan to trade in EX5 and get this babe tongue.gif

I always train bike skill every week from batu feringgi-> teluk bahang -> balik pulau -> bayan lepas. Abt 80km ride, mostly hill run. Got 1 day raining, cornering tat time oso quite scary esp. with sand. Gonna control the throttle and brake properly to avoid uncontrolled slide. Well, usually very few cars on the hill run early in the morning, so I got more guts to push my motor to limit tongue.gif

Just tried my dad's Shogun 125 max speed on LDP, using semi-synthetic oil and BP normal petrol. Full throttle can easily boost to 110kph. After that, the engine feels slow to accelerate, and it's damn scary bcoz the wind like can blow me away from bike :-S

After finished with BP petrol, pump in full tank V-power. Woah, it's different ! the power at high rev really rox. Can easily hit 100kph with 1/3 throttle and 110kph at slightly more than half throttle. Hmm.... next time persuade my dad to change to fully-synthetic. I am pretty sure it can go up to 120kph easily.

LC135 was a almost perfect for me tongue.gif it's pickup very scary... some said it might even win a 125z on pickup... sweat.gif even nicer than lagenda... but i never drive b4 so i duno biggrin.gif if got chance wanna gip it a try  thumbup.gif

well if u wanna mod ur ex5... do it safe is mod the engine's headblock (cam, piston, all polished)... police wont notice it tongue.gif but if u change the carb... sometimes will get kacau from police... roadblock kenot pass biggrin.gif
wah... u wanna be 2nd takumi by using EX5 passing downhill ? tongue.gif
*
Thanks for the suggestion. How much will it cost for headblock mod?
hehe, i kenot b 2nd takumi, as motor doesnt drift. Drift = die tongue.gif

It seems that a bike's performance is so easily influenced by fuel and lubricant.  smile.gif
*
Yeah. When my dad was using the EX5, he used RM12 engine oil and BP petrol. It's very hard to get to 80kph. Now, after i changed to fully synthetic Esso (RM49) and V-power, easily hit 80kph on coastal highway, sometimes even do 90kph without realizing it (when getting high and kicks in more petrol tongue.gif).

Anyway, if wanna change to fully synthetic from organic oil, better use semi-synthetic 1st, then only transition to fully synthetic. Forgoten what's the reason behind, but it seems like mixing organic and full syn might cause some deposit to left in engine.

u gotta be kiddin  shocking.gif
u got ride 125z before a not ?
*
I tried 125Z b4 a few years back (maybe the old model), dammmnnn scaryyy. Kampung road short short only can go 100kph. The shifting feel is damn nice too, i love it ! wub.gif
I don't expect 135LC to match its acceleration at high rpm, but low rpm shud be very strong. I am pretty satisfied with Shogun's 125 low rpm performance, 135LC should hv the perfect acceleration at all rpm for me biggrin.gif

Hmm..... should i wait another 2 years for 150LC?? tongue.gif

Hi guys, any modification can be done on 135LC? I wish to have slightly more top end power. low rpm power is sufficient enough.
Just wondering, where is the carburator placed? I can't seem to find them as easily as EX5 tongue.gif
