Macaunese now earn more than Hong Kongers: US$1,921 per month The median monthly earnings of workers employed in Macau were MOP15,000 (about US$1,921) in the second quarter of this year, the same as in the first quarter but represents a 15.4% rise from a year earlier, official data from the territory's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicate. Unemployment figures had managed to remain stable at 1.8% despite the casino crash. Two out of three major industries in Macau are currently having setbacks but strong performance from the hotel industry has stabilized the unemployment rate, the department added. Hong Kongers median income: US$1,909 per month The US$1,921 figure put Macau ahead of neighboring Hong Kong. According to the latest data from Hong Kong's Census and Statistics Department (Censtatd), the media income of workers in Hong Kong across all industries was HK$14,800 (US$1,909) - just a mere 5% increase from a year earlier. The two however, lagged far behind their peers in Singapore. Based on data from SingStats, the median gross monthly income for workers in Singapore is around SG$3,770 (US$2,765), that is approximately 45% higher than both China's SAR territories. Singaporeans are the highest earners in Asia: US$2,765 per month Another tiny high-income microstate, Brunei, recorded a monthly median wage of B$1,940 (US$1,423), according to the latest data from the country's Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE). For the once mighty Japan, as a result of its 2-decades economic stagnation, the Japanese median monthly wage of ¥314,150 (US$2,543) has fallen below that of Singapore. In fact, over the past 15 years, wages in Japan had not increased but dropped 15 percent. At its height back in 1990 before the crash, the Japanese monthly income nearly topped US$3,500. Bruneian median income: US$1,423 a month http://www.macaubusiness.com/news/q2-media...s-mop15000.html http://www.humanresourcesonline.net/macau-...rate-stays-1-8/ This post has been edited by hippihippo: Jul 29 2015, 09:32 AM |

2.7k usd in sgd is not a lot of money, considering their cost of living, it cannot meet the lifestyles most malaysians are accustomed to |
