Hi All,
I am currently on a VIP20 plan and living in Klang Valley area. Can I upgrade to VIP50 or is it only applicable for new application? Do I need to wait for a call from TM telemarketer?
Thanks!

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 12 2015, 02:50 PM) Just walk in to nearest TM Point. If you are within the coverage, then you can apply. Within an hour you will be activated. Good luck. Hi thanks! I went to TM Point Muzium just now to upgrade to Unifi 50. The guy said will be upgraded within 24 hours. No need to off and on modem also. Activation only takes 1 hour huh?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 13 2015, 11:39 AM) Usually 1-2 hours but well, just take it as 24H. Need to reboot your router. Oh still need to reboot. Luckily you told me. Hopefully will be a smooth upgrade. Thanks again!

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 13 2015, 09:54 AM) Me too! Can you please check your OCC UniFi? My contract didn't get refreshed, it is just continuing from my previous VIP5-VIP 10 contract which commenced in Dec 2014. My OCC Unifi also subscription updated but service start date remains the same. BTW I didn't receive any SMS yet even though my OCC Unifi has been updated. Will check later once I reach home from office if my speed has increased. This post has been edited by theskems: Aug 13 2015, 05:29 PM

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 13 2015, 05:32 PM) It's OK, if your OCC UniFi is updated that means your speed is already activated. Reach home yesterday speed upgraded automatically without needing to reboot the modem. Youtube and browsing is fine except when I use VPN to watch Hulu and Netflix the speed is slow. Not sure if related to my package or US to Malaysia server problem. Will check again tonight. QUOTE(KKW @ Aug 13 2015, 05:52 PM) Any VIP20 user get phone call from TM telemarketing yet? I doubt telemarketer will approach VIP20 user. I have two accounts, one is VIP5 and the other VIP20. Only the account with VIP5 was called for promotion upgrade or discount. For the VIP20 since 2011 never received any such offer. The TM Point service staff also said to register VIP5 first then wait for call offer which from my experience was only within 2 weeks after installation.

QUOTE(oktuck18 @ Aug 19 2015, 10:14 AM) Same here, upgraded to 30mbps package last week, only managed to get 19-22mbps download speed via speedtest.net upload can spike up to 6-8mbps for first few days of activation but drop back to 4.9x mbps now. Anyway upload speed is not important to me. I have been using the 50MBps for about a week now. The first few days speed was spiky (37MB to 49MB) so I replaced TM's router with my previous Asus RT-N66U (450MBps) router last night and my speedtest went through the roof at constant 51MB to 53MB. TM's router stated can handle up to 150MBps but in reality the router's efficiency unlikely to be 100%. This is just my experience and don't blame me if you purchase an expensive router and situation still the same

QUOTE(Chosen1 @ Aug 19 2015, 10:41 AM) Hi All... just changed from VIP 20 to 50 MB package. As bro Doraemon said, VIP 20 is still the best. I get full speed on Speedtest.net, and torrent is at about 5MB.... no complaints.... but Netflix on VIP 20 was awesome... now.... its HORRIBLE. Low quality and cannot stream more than 10 minutes without massive delay and buffering. Anyone else has this issue? You guys think its an IP issue? I get Mostly 202.xxx.xxx.x I think VPN service suffered as I also watch Hulu and Netflix and found it takes longer buffering time (I also upgrade from VIP20 to Unifi 50). If I am not mistaken VPN service relies on upload speed as well but 10MB upload should be enough as my other house use VIP10 but watching Hulu and Netflix is a breeze. Anyway as per my post above I haven't tried watching Hulu yet after changing my router. Will check later tonight and update.

QUOTE(Neodammerung @ Aug 19 2015, 11:11 AM) Why not use a dns service like unotelly? much better than vpn if your main use is streaming netflix/hulu. I've upgraded to unifi 50 and no problems with streaming 4k netflix. Interesting.. So you subcribe only DNS service right to watch netflix? No need VPN service? There is two packages offered on their website. Sorry off topic abit..

QUOTE(Neodammerung @ Aug 19 2015, 11:48 AM) Yeap only dns service. not sure whats the package is now but when i subscribed last year they gave me free vpn as well. but yeah i dont use the vpn anyways Thanks for the info. I'm using ExpressVPN and subscribed for 1 year. Actually I am satisfied with their speed until upgrade to Unifi 50 recently. But will check again later tonight using the ASUS router.

QUOTE(Chosen1 @ Aug 19 2015, 11:09 AM) Try Hulu, you will find that HULU now LOADS a lot better then Netflix. On VIP 20, Netflix is a breeze where HULU on and off might have some slight buffers. Now... Netflix is almost unwatchable. Hulu and Netflix no buffering at all now after changing to my ASUS router. Another two variables to consider is my dynamic IP might have changed since I restart the modem and also I set Google DNS in my router instead of Auto. I can safely say it is better to upgrade the router if we are subscribing to Unifi 30 or 50. The speed is really stable after upgrade.

QUOTE(esma_ezhar @ Aug 21 2015, 10:18 AM) Hi, currently I'm on Unifi 10. Should I go to unifi 30 package. My usage is for surfing, youtube and streaming Netflix for 2 device. Is 5 Mbps upload enough for me? Why do you want to upgrade from VIP10? The Unifi 50 I subscribed for my parents house because 8 people use internet at a time excluding guests. I found VIP20 is not enough when everyone is streaming hence why I upgraded. My own house uses VIP10 and no problem watching Hulu and Netflix via VPN service. Only my wife and myself use the internet though since my son still a baby.

QUOTE(Chosen1 @ Aug 22 2015, 06:56 PM) Bro... i'm using Asus RT-AC87U since last year wo.... if you're using google DNS, that means you're using your PC to stream netflix and hulu? Using VPN ke? Google DNS just set for my router. I use my android tv box (MINIX) to watch hulu and netflix using ExpressVPN app.

QUOTE(nyunyu @ Aug 23 2015, 06:45 PM) Who here ex-20Mbps users using 50Mbps? Would you recommend? For streaming and gaming stick with VIP20 as it is more stable. But if you are a heavy downloader/torrent then go for Unifi 50. Hopefully they will introduce symmetrical upload/download for Unifi 50 in the near future.

QUOTE(Lynixx @ Aug 24 2015, 10:26 AM) do you mind to share which wifi extender you using? because last time i bought Asus N-66,it does provide coverage but the speed mostly reduced 50% of my original speed. Use of Wifi extender will always reduce speed 50%. The best is using Wireless Access Point to maintain speed either laying out LAN cables from router or using homeplug.

QUOTE(syahmie @ Aug 24 2015, 10:38 AM) cheap wifi extender is not a good advice if you want to extend your wifi. get commercial grade wifi extender. i am using Ubiquiti UAP-LR-3 UniFi AP Enterprise for my home network and this work great. trying lots of wifi extender before but when you change to enterprise wifi extender, you will feel the different. http://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-LR-3-Un...&keywords=unifiI'm using the same as well. Check out my thread below however I have changed my router to RT-N66U last week after upgrading to Unifi 50: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3576534&hl=Really love the Unifi Controller software. Can monitor the clients and APs. By the way it is an Access Point. Different from Wireless Extender as it uses a backbone connection (LAN/CAT cables).

QUOTE(apogi @ Aug 24 2015, 12:48 PM) Hi all, Sorry if this question is very old lame questions but im having a intermittent WIFI signal cut off, weak signal. What i meant was my WIFI to Device. Is this normal for this router? The router model is RG DLINK - WBR2300. I know some people will changed to other router but is there any way that i can improve the WIFI maybe change the channel. Really appreciate your feedback. p/s: LAN connection is fine. Most of the time my connected devices only 2 Wireless device, 1 smartphone and 1 laptop. Thank you. Try using channel 6. The recommended channels for 2.4GHz are 1, 6 and 11.

QUOTE(razorkid @ Aug 26 2015, 04:32 PM) I signed up at tm point they have a copy of my id already I'm not sure why the contractor/ installer needs my photocopy id My own experience the contractor didn't ask me to email my IC copy. Just on the day they came they ask to look at my IC to confirm address before proceeding with the installation.
