TM TO UNVEIL “ALL NEW” UNIFI THIS WEEK: MOST LIKELY TO BE FASTER AND MORE

A rather curious press invite has just arrived into our mailbox just moments ago. Apparently, TM is about to unveil what the company referred to as “all new” UniFi later this week. Judging from the invite, it seems that the new UniFi will most likely feature faster Internet speed.
This is due to the very tagline that stated inside the invite: “faster is only the beginning”. Then again, let’s not forget the fact that TM has actually launched higher speed packages last month at 30 and 50 Mbps. So, it might be possible that this tagline is referring to those packages instead.
UniFi Equipment Bag
Nevertheless, we believe that the tagline might also be referring to new value-added services under the UniFi banner. It is rather hard to guess what they could be though since we are not aware of any new services under trial by TM at the moment since P1 ToGo is already part of the 30/50 Mbps packages as option add-on service and TMgo wireless service is currently running on its own.
How about lower monthly fee? Well, one can always hope. For now, guess we have to stay tuned till 19 August to find out what is this “all new” UniFi all about.

I'm aware and the mystery already shared. It's about 30Mbps and 50Mbps, no price reduction for its current VIP plans.

ic,TM is using GPON,don't think they can offer 1Gbps per customer.based on current config, should be max 100Mbps per BTU/ONT.

5 reasons why I won’t upgrade to the new Unifi 30Mbps package
1. Slower upload speed

2. New 24-months contract for Upgrading
3. Asymmetrical speeds
Just like Streamyx which offers asymmetrical speeds (another term is called half duplex), its high likely that download speed could impact upload speed on the Unifi 30Mbps plan and vice versa. If someone in your home is downloading a huge file (or torrenting/P2P), this process could use all the available bandwidth. As a result, you could notice extremely slow Internet service especially when you try to upload a file.
In comparison, the current Unifi VIP plan (VIP5/VIP10/VIP20) offers symmetrical speeds. For example, the VIP 10 plan offers 10Mbps download speed and 10Mbps upload speed, concurrently at the same time. With this kind of speed, you could download a 100GB file at 10Mbps and at the same time upload another file at 10Mbps speed.

4. No more HyppTV Mega Pack
5. Unifi is Expensive

ok my 30mbps/5 just went live....

so far my downloads are faster than i'm use to. like usually i'd tab out do other stuff then check later on download. first thing i notice download is done when i check back, whereas before i could still see it still downloading. as such i didn't really get to look at the download speed on torrent cause it downloaded faster before i tabbed back to it to check how fast it's downloading lelz...

according to speedtest it does score 30/5 but overseas to us i got 20/5 hm.....
