I called their CS and they are ever unhelpful. She doesn't know about this issue and keeps insisting that TM only provides basic router. If you want a better speed, then get your own router. doh.gif

I told her this equals to cheating if it's true. You introduce a plan which your customers are not able to use. doh.gif Once upgraded, I cannot downgrade anymore.

How about others? Does anyone of you using the stock equipment and manage to get full speed with WiFi? I only use WiFi and not LAN cable, so your experience sharing is very much appreciated.

I received an Innatech RG4332 Wifi router from TM as part of the VIP5 package.

I did get full speed of 5Mbps (upload and download) with Wifi when it is working fine.

However, I experienced Wifi disconnects every few hours or so.

I couldn't stand it and promptly replaced the RG4332 with an ASUS RT-N12 D1 router.

No more Wifi disconnections and the router has been rock stable from day one.

I used the RG4332 for a week before I said "enough is enough". biggrin.gif

My wireless-N 300 router is an entry-level ASUS RT-N12 D1.

The following wireless log shows the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) of various wireless-N clients
and the maximum Tx (Transmit/Upload) and Rx (Received/Download) rates.

They vary quite a bit depending on the location of the various clients, and the number of obstructions (walls, floors)
and whether there are signal interference from neighbours' wireless devices.

I should be able to upgrade my Unifi VIP5 to Unifi30 and utilize the maximum subscribed bandwidth based on these figures.

I am not sure how the TM-supplied wireless router will fare.

Hi Guys,

Good day.

I just somehow bump into this tread and just know about Unifi -30 and 50. Im an existing VIP 20 user RM 150 per month.

I wanna know whether I could check at any TM point even those dealer TM point or I have to go the actual TM point by TM themselves.

Please let me know. As i'm planning to go TM point Mid Valley now to ask them whether my area is cover.

Cheers!

Alfred.

Where can I get VIP20 at RM150 per month?

I am currently on VIP5.

My son hosts a Minecraft server with 200+ users active simultaneously at peak times.

My ping averages about 4ms.

Nobody complained of lag.

So, a 5Mbps upload bandwidth is quite sufficient for online gaming, according to my experience.

Doubt that, unless the users are from Malaysia.

Lag may varies which may has something to do with your hardware.
5mbps is not enough, if anyone decides to ddos your network, you are utterly done.
*
You are entitled to your opinion which contradicts my actual experience.

Have you setup and operate a gaming server 24/7?

If you are DDOSed, even a 100Mbps bandwidth is "utterly done".

My BTU spoil, any idea where can I buy better brand BTU?
*
The BTU is under lifetime warranty from TM.

Call 100 and arrange for a TM technician to replace the faulty unit.

Unifi seems to be back to normal now.

Still too early to say.

It might go back to being slow later. biggrin.gif

Anyone else think that youtube is being throttled? Forget about 1080p, youtube often defaults to 144p  and often the max i can play it is 480p Some days is worse than others but right now anything higher than 144p will be stuck at buffering! vmad.gif

Using Unifi 20Mbps with ip range 175.143.xxx.xxx btw
*
You definitely have a problem.

I am on VIP5 and I can stream Youtube 1080p videos smoothly without any buffering at all. smile.gif

I currently have Streamyx and have applied for VIP5. Does the Streamyx termination have to occur during Unifi installation, or can it wait a week or so later? Cause need to get the Streamyx' accountholder's authorisation to cut it.
*
Yes, it can wait.

I have done the Streamyx termination a week after Unifi installation.
