Up to you. If your location is not congested, 2.4Ghz is good enough.

QUOTE(UserU @ Aug 4 2015, 12:41 PM) I noticed that online games (Steam, MMOs) have pings increased by 100ms. Previously they would hover around 200+, now they're at 300+. I believe this is a routing issue. It happens from time to time.I've tried changing wireless channels, port forwarding, releasing + renewing IP, configuring adapter settings, disabling QoS, but they don't seem to help much. To make things worse, I'm stuck with Unifi's crappy DIR-615 router with G3 firmware that is not even searchable on the Internet so I can't update the firmware or install a custom one on it. Any suggestions? Try a direct Ethernet connection. |

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Aug 4 2015, 10:23 PM) Took the plunge. Not bad. 17mins. Tmpoint. Tahpau lunch for waifu. Got sms on the way back. Done. May I know how many cameras you have and the resolution? If you don't mind, the brand too. Still worried about the upload as my poe cams can hit 15mbps when streamed. Tested D/U simultaneously still got max 50:10. |

fruitie : The guide I gave you is not a proper access point setup but it is easier to configure. Most user shouldn't have problem with this setup anyway.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 5 2015, 12:48 AM) Not sure if this is related but I noticed that when I was using the stock router, I was still able to bypass the YouTube videos with Proxmate. MR3420 don't support IPV6. However, after using TL MR3420, I cannot use it anymore, it keeps on showing "the uploader has not made this video available in your country." It seems Proxmate is no long working though it is enabled. It refreshes for a while and the message pops up again. What could be the reason? Any settings I need to make in my router? Also how to enable IPv6? I tried the methods shown on Google but doesn't seem to work. I was using IPv6 when using stock router. Edit: Gave up on Proxmate, using ProxFlow now. |

QUOTE(RaePyng @ Aug 5 2015, 10:45 PM) I have been offered by TM telemarketers to upgrade my VIP10 (RM179) to unifi 30 (RM199). 1) Same network infrastructure, gaming shouldn't be affected.Aside from slower upload speed of 5mbps & no free local calls anymore, am having some concerns on upgrading 1. Gaming, will unifi 30 perform less favorably when it come to gaming (i.e. higher ping) ? any unifi 30 subscribers & gamers can share their experience? 2. I'm a no brainer when it comes to router and i know that my stock unifi router would limit the speed to 15mbps only according to previous posts. Am planning to replace my stock DIR router to ASUS RT-N14UHP. Is it like plug and play if i were to replace the router and no configuration is needed? FYI, I'm also using some China IPTV which works perfectly for now. Afraid that it won't work anymore after i change the router. Would appreciate advice from all sifus & kind souls here... 2) It is very easy to configure. Plug and play and you configure Unifi username and password. 3) Same as 1. Still the same TM network but with increased download bandwidth. |

QUOTE(LordSparda @ Aug 6 2015, 11:57 AM) Just got my update to 30 mbps yesterday. It's a bit slow though; I'm getting around 2.7 - 2.8 mb/s downloads at max. Is that normal? I was expecting greater than 3.0 mb/s. Try rebooting the router. Also, my default unifi router is borked; looks like wireless is dead on it. After the package upgrade I can connect to the wifi, but can't get any data at all. I can't change the router since they never give me the login/password for my account (said not allowed to give woh...), so I'm thinking of buying a wireless access point. Do they sell those around here? What brand is good? Entirely replacing the TM router is the best option. You can get your account ID and password from the customer service. A list of Unifi compatible router. QUOTE(micwk @ Aug 6 2015, 12:10 PM) dear all sifus, There are no specific router. Just get one according to your budget.what router would you recommend to use with Unifi30? read through quite a lot of pages back but seem to find anyone recommending a specific router. some say ASUS RT-N14UHP is good but a bit pricey. are there any lower range but still good routers you guys are using? your help is much appreciated. Maybe you can consider TP-LINK WDR4300. It is cheaper than Asus N14UHP. A list of Unifi compatible router. |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Aug 8 2015, 11:58 AM) i used poe before so i have an idea what its like. this unit tend to get hot so bit worried using it for long durations :/ maybe newer models have solved this issue. POE is not the same thing with Powerline. that said, i don't think POE is going to be needed much longer because.... http://www.extremetech.com/computing/18468...-to-your-laptop wireless ac now is pretty decent. but with ax i doubt even power users will have much to complain about. can go 100% wireless unless your running some server farm where you need faster wired speeds Wireless is awesome until the throughput halved even in the opposite room. Powerline for performance critical device. Wireless for everything else. |

QUOTE(kazekage_09 @ Aug 9 2015, 12:21 PM) After a week using my new router , TP Link WDR4300 - wifi speedtest using smartphone (using 5Ghz frequency) will get me >30mbps all the times. A dual band USB wireless adapter will do. while using my laptop (using 2.4Ghz frequency) will get me around 15-30 mbps. Problem is I download things using laptop not smartphone How to make my laptop to get stable 30mbps wireless speed? Current wireless device is built-in my laptop I guess. It cant detect 5Ghz...Will getting external dual band wireless device solve the problem? This post has been edited by blacktubi: Aug 9 2015, 01:04 PM |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 10 2015, 11:03 PM) Can try first, cannot only change. Still flash? Why not HTML5? Mixture feedback, some said can, some said can't. As for me, I don't want to waste time to try since I have a spare unused router to make it as an AP. ![]() I did something to my flash settings on my Chrome because YouTube videos kept jerking and stuttering. Adobe sucks. Now kinda solved the problem. But due to my flash settings, my Speedtest can only capture around 20Mbps now but my IDM captures actual speed, so that's fine with me. My phone also more than 30Mbps. https://www.youtube.com/html5 |

QUOTE(Weng85 @ Aug 10 2015, 11:17 PM) TP-LINK TL-WR841ND is around RM80. Works alright. QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 10 2015, 11:08 PM) I don't know how to enable it but if I read from online, it is already enabled now automatically? I cannot find way to do it. If it is enabled, you won't see the flash settings when you right click a video. It should be enabled automatically on Chrome now. This one blacktubi has to advise already.
