Can just make sure your local line still active or not expired
Else other people can take your number and they take over from there |

just go over there get a new number and make a change of number. You will get to maintain the same contact list and whatsapp even extend your 1 year subscription.
But the contacts must be informed about your new number so that they can whatsapp to you on that new number. |

Generally, you cannot have 2 Whatsapp accounts in the same phone.
When you use your own number to register for Whatsapp in your phone, you can put another number into the phone to use for calls/SMS/data, with your Whatsapp still using your old number. But if your old number is no longer yours (like not keeping it active for prepaid, or cancelling it for postpaid), and someone else uses this number to register for Whatsapp in his own phone, the Whatsapp in your phone will not work anymore. You'll then have to use another number to register for Whatsapp if you want to continue using it in your phone. So your choices are: 1) Use your own number for Whatsapp even when you're overseas and have another SIM card for calls/SMS/data, provided your line is kept active throughout the whole period. 2) When you go overseas, buy a new SIM card and use that to register for Whatsapp. Then, you'll have to let all your friends know about your new number so that they can continue to contact you via Whatsapp. |

QUOTE(RDoe @ Jul 21 2015, 07:25 PM) Generally, you cannot have 2 Whatsapp accounts in the same phone. there's a custom Whatsapp called GBWhatsapp whereby you can have 2 accounts (2 different numbers) in one phone When you use your own number to register for Whatsapp in your phone, you can put another number into the phone to use for calls/SMS/data, with your Whatsapp still using your old number. But if your old number is no longer yours (like not keeping it active for prepaid, or cancelling it for postpaid), and someone else uses this number to register for Whatsapp in his own phone, the Whatsapp in your phone will not work anymore. There is an app called Disa. You can have 2 whatsapp in 1 phone with 1 sim card.
you still need to keep the local number active. |

QUOTE(lleoyu76 @ Jul 22 2015, 11:53 PM) will that person has my fren whatsapp number/account?? First thing first: Is your account a prepaid or postpaid one?if i keep my old local sim card (inactive), there will be another new sim card with same number?? If you keep the SIM card active (continue to make it officially yours, whether if it's prepaid or postpaid), the number will still be yours, and continuing to use it as your Whatsapp number in your phone will not be a problem at all. If you give that number up (either through having it expire if it's a prepaid, or cancelling it before you go overseas if it's a postpaid), then the telco will recycle the number and someone else will become the new owner. When the new owner uses this number to register for Whatsapp on his phone, he'll get your friends' messages if they continue to Whatapp you via this number. Therefore, to answer your latest questions: - The new owner will not know your contact list, but will get messages from your friends if they don't know that you've given up your old number and still continue to message to it. - If you're using a smartphone and your contact list is still maintained in it, they'll still show up even if you use a new number to register for Whatsapp. In other words, when you open the contact list in Whatsapp that's registered with a new number, you'll still see your old contact list (just REFRESH the list, just to be sure). - So long as you make sure that the old local SIM card continues to be in your name throughout your overseas stay (that is, you continue to reload for prepaid or pay your bills for postpaid), then there won't be another SIM card with the same number. It doesn't matter if you bring this SIM card with you or not. Hope the above is somewhat clearer. |
