Hello All,
I'm not sure if anyone on the same boat with me. Let's go with the summary below for better understanding.
- I started to subscribe U Mobile U88 since January 2013 after my iPhone 4S contract ended with DiGi. - I bought new device from U Mobile in February 2015 through their loyalty member offer program, had to tied with 2 years contract with U88 plan. - 29 June 2015 U Mobile released plan upgrade for U28, P50 and P70 plans but no news for U58 and U88 loyalty customers. - P70 subscribers are paying RM70 monthly bill and getting 7GB internet quota and U88 subscribers are paying RM88 monthly bill but getting 3GB internet quota. - I have escalated this unfairness through U Mobile Facebook team and they did apologize, advised me that they will forward this to relevant department for review.
Until now I do not receive any update from them until 5 days ago I received their offer email from their promotion team. The email indicated my name and telling me that I am eligible to upgrade from my current U88 to P70 plan. I even clicked on the link provided in the email, proceed to insert my phone and IC number, the website also telling me that the plan I can upgrade is P70. The main fact was there is no terms and conditions indicated in the upgrade web page. Before I click the submit button, I head toward their service centre to confirm few details before I proceed. And guess what? The lady told me that I will have to pay RM1500++ in order to get that P70 plan.
At this point I would like to say is I'm not trying to terminate my subscription with U Mobile. It's just that I purchased device from them few months ago, and the upgrade promotion should apply to all plan subscribers instead of leaving high pay monthly bill customer behind. Even if I purchased the device in a very low price, if they were upgrading my current plan into 5GB internet quota, I would be happy as well but currently it's none.
So how and what do you think on this kind of case? Strictly no flaming please as I'm looking to hear public opinion about this. Existing U88 customers may drop your feedback as well.
Thank you.

QUOTE(Baconateer @ Jul 20 2015, 07:04 PM) time to switch telco then.. It's either I wait until my contract ends in February 2017 or pay the RM1500++ penalty charges. I'm stuck in their unfairness treatment at the moment seriously... One thing good about them is excellent coverage in Penang, in my work area and excellent download speed.

Two is One and One is None.

seeing as there is still 19 months left in the 2yr contract, i'm guessing the rm1500+ is actually payment to umobile to reclaim the cost of the phone. which will then probably leave u free to sign for p70 contract free?

It's indeed not worthy paying the penalty charge. P70 does not have contract but obtained upgrades. Existing U88 customers that tied with the device purchase gets nothing. Like I said, give us U88 customer more internet quota and we will be happy. That is the disappointing part.

The phone that I purchase from the was Huawei Honor 6, RRP was RM999. I bought from them at around RM270 then one or two months later they dropped it down to around RM190.also not to forget that device price is currently RM899.

Sign contract is like that. When I read your thread i think you sign a iphone 6,until I see you sign a Huawei Honor 6... For me I won't sign a 2 year contract for few hundred rebate, not worth.

I think it's hard to change the contract plan which u signed previously and have it changed at a later stage. It's just like purchasing a similar car at different period with different promotion. Cant expect to keep on receiving good deal while manufacturer upgrade their promotion periodically. U can treat this as a unfair cases but not wrong.

I do understand about the contract thing, terms and conditions etc. As a consumer I feel that the upgrade treatment is not fair to all. I have escalated this to CFM, they have acknowledged this and advised U Mobile to resolve this matter "amicably". I do hope some body with power in U Mobile will be contacting me to discuss this unfair matter.
Yes I do call it as an unfair practice, but I do not mind to tie with the contract at all, that is why I chose device from them and get tie with the contract.

U can treat this as a unfair cases but not wrong. I really appreciate your input on this matter. However comparing a car and a service from a service provider isn't fair enough to me. Purchasing a car which I understand that you actually purchase a whole vehicle, which is fixed and manufactured as per factory condition. The matter I'm discussing is about a "service" which I tied down with the company. Service should be able to change as long as not over the limit. I'm not asking for more but just asking for a fair treatment service, nothing more nothing less. Just my point of view. Cheers.

A contract is a contract. What u're trying to do now is re-nego a contract u previously agreed. The rights' on Telco side, whatever they grant u is solely on goodwill.
Eg. If today, new user U88's internet quota is reduced to 2.5GB, while u're getting 3GB. Would you complain?
