Never owned an ipod b4 but I like that they keep the old dimensions and so on, which make the backward compatibility with old accessories not an issue.
Also, it will technically be more powerful than Ip6 as it only need to drive the sub-HD resolution of 5(s).

QUOTE(attw @ Jul 16 2015, 08:35 AM) I have a 5th gen iPod Touch with the A5 chip, and iOS 8 really causes it to lag unbearably, but thankfully I only use it for music at the gym or as a companion in hotel rooms when I'm traveling for work. I think many were expecting Apple to kill off the iPod line due to years of sales decline, which is why this particular product update is somewhat of a surprise. A5 is meant for ip4s, so pushing them on the resolution of 5(s) is a little too over. Also, Apple's new iOS tend to be sluggish on old device. Last time when I move from iOS 6 to 7 on my ip5, the device become seriously laggy, and pretty much unusable on ip4s of my friend. Luckily from iOS 7 to 8 on ip5s is another story, no noticeable performance hit. People said that in upcoming iOS, apple will address the performance issue of legacy products, and from the beta version of it so far, they say it does comply with what being said.
