QUOTE(AVFAN @ Oct 23 2015, 09:41 PM) the floor has been smashed by coming euro qe and today's china rate cut! highly speculative, oil is very difficult play. 44 may be new floor...? 44-47 short term? however, for long term, i do "think“ oil price will move upwards....until there is a new energy form that sufficient to replace oil. Energy demand is moving upwards worldwide.....electric car, then electric flying object....personal spaceship? such as personal computer last time. QUOTE(danmooncake @ Oct 29 2015, 03:29 AM) Big Data needs more time to overtake the world of business. I can only imagine AI becomes more important than our use of brain in the future. IBM will be the target of ET if they plan to conquer The Earth. ....errr, i think i think too far, definitely far from just 5 years. |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Oct 29 2015, 04:04 AM) In the old days, I know what IBM used to sell. Nowadays, I'm not so sure anymore because the old stuff are gone and the new stuff - their competitors also doing it. The cake is so huge, I believe it's more than ok to expect some competitors in the field. As of today, I see it just the beginning of Big Data approaching to its mature stage. The 2nd phase would be the continuous of big time data growth rate (that requires massive improvement on intelligent data search/managing engine as well as huge advancement on storage technology) because when we look at AI such as Siri, we know it's just a baby, maybe 1 months old. Imagine when we see 7 year-old kid? Not to mention a turning 21 year-old adult phase. And the advantages of IBM on this category are: 1. it's already a pioneer on building super computer (inclusive the most essential part of it: cpu chip), 2. It's already one of the biggest on cloud, 3. Its business model is focus on this category at an even better position for its much more generic approach on the technology, unlike its major competitors (ie. Microsoft, Amazon), 4. Its recently very good relationship with another future-proof high tech King Apple, which also very much into producing AI products (talking about smart home, smart automobile, smart personal devices). Take a look at recent (just) 1-2 years time, more and more software companies are porting their software to cloud base instead of one time installation on client's computer. This action has a very large impact on fast increment on cloud demand. It's still the beginning for now, but i see people will get used to it soon and it can become major boom on big data demand. Their stock price is at the 3 year low.. it may take your timing of 5 years to get back to the highs 2013 (200 level) Maybe i am too optimistic. My biggest worries is cloud tech grow too slow in near future, and not Microsoft or Amazon's cloud business grow stronger than ibm -- I really don't mind this at all, because it simply means Big Data is growing, which is a good sign for any player. Same theory goes to Samsung and Apple. I really don't mind Samsung helps a lot on "educating and promoting" consumer to buy smartphones, that in turn helps smartphone users to grow rapidly, which helps Apple to gain more potential buyers for free. QUOTE(danmooncake @ Nov 3 2015, 11:54 PM) OIH (like XLE) also rallied quite strong. i guess crude should breakout 48 to strengthen the bullish view. $50 would be even better. As quite some experts expecting 2016 to reach 55. Crude also doing ok.. UWTI (long side) seems ok. Not sure why they keep saying crude is bearish. however, i am seeing 44-48 range bound still here. |
