crude's harder to trade in the last 20 sessions or so, been rangebound 44-45.50.

so, small gain or small loss.

unlike the 2 months before that!

summer over, less driving, gasoline stocks up...

global over supply; plenty of land and sea tankers filled to the brim; china said to be stockpiling, now "an ocean of diesel"!

can't see wti or brent flying for months, maybe years.

but financial markets will go up and down with this news, that news, hedge funds, usd, etc...

can see crude now is also pretty directionless, just following dow... biggrin.gif

actually considering moving some usd to sgd to buy more sg reits.

rate is good now >1.42; sg reits prices on the low side, 6-8% yield.

'something' shake the market around 2.30, and whole world turns down fast!
S&P and Nasdaq immediately turned red.

oh, just read that msian property market is/will go south.

everything seems dull, slow and weak, better be careful from now.

?? am i getting pessimistic, or influenced by other forums, or is it getting real about the outlook, local and foreign?

better check out the trend for spore property market. i am quite sure the market is slow and getting v quiet. dont know how far can this affect your target reits. i am indirectly involved in spore property. australia (perth) likewise, people losing jobs esp in the mining sectors, and rentals r down, and house prices are down. it all started when minerals (copper) prices went down not long ago ....

ya, the news we read everyday is pretty grim, esp local news.

outlook is no good at all; there is hardly any country or market that has good news to offer.

the worry i have is things keep sliding bit by bit, then... a sudden hard fall! laugh.gif

stocks will get hit bad first, then the rest.

which is why it is never a bad idea to have some money in fixed income like bond funds, fd - in strong currency, of course.

local prop? been pretty dead for months now.

sg reits will not be spared too. i only go for the large liquid ones, easy to get out if necessary.

I think it's on a transition stage. If you look at the popular malls, there are big crowd. Restaurants all full, need to queue. Parking all full.
So, it's a transitional stage. Hawkers and street retailers will face diminishing customers because the trend is moving out from them into the cleaner, air-cond, comfortable, all in one place....malls. Watch Singapore and all western countries, malls and clean restaurants are king of retail business.

Is there any tax on dividend for singapore reits? I only know HK is good, no (or very least) tax charged for dividend. But, USA, forget it, 30% tax! I only count on capital gain (and of course currency rate) for US stocks.

sg reits - depends on the div type. some are tax free, some have a portion taxed. overall, it is small like 3-4%.

my observation is only the top tier malls like 1u, ikano-curve enjoy good biz and mostly on weekends only; weekdays, not crowded.

2nd tier malls... i see a lot of tenants going in and out, vacant. can hold, i suppose.

klang valley has too many malls, imo.

we'll have a clear picture when imported inflation due to weak rm kicks in fully by year end.
