17th July 2015, 11.00p.m.: Post Surgery (Admitted to HDU):11.00 a.m.The visiting hour for SunMed's HDU/ICU centre start at 11.00 a.m. and they are pretty strict about this, tried to enter at 9.30 a.m. but the security guard didnt allow.
My father had post-surgery fever and it is not a good sign, plus his blood pressure was really low, as low as 78. The cardiologist stationed there suggested that they increase the dosage antibiotics together with NSAIDs. There is a concern of kidney failure if the blood pressure is too low, and they must by all means prevent that from happen.
His temperature stands at 38 degrees, so I am really concerned, the first thing I ask the cardiologist was:
"How long will it take for you to ascertain that it is not infection?"
Yoon:" The chances of him getting infection is very high, the operation although is successful but there are things that we cant control, but right now we will try our best to increase his blood pressure and stop the fever."
My father's blood taken for blood culture immediately after this. It will take around 3 days, but since its raya, i suspect it might be longer.
5.00 p.m.There's only 2 visiting slot: 11 am - 1 pm and 5 pm - 8 pm, me and my family went there to check him up again. He had alot of phlegm, but the nurse suggested he himselves to clear it out instead of using suction.
Nothing else I can do beside standing there to watch him, he is weak and uncomfortable.
Saw alot of sad scene there - alot of different family groups, some of them were crying and shedding tears.
There were at least 3 family groups there, and the patients are not looking too well.
Added Plot: While waiting for the cardiologist to come up with heart screening result, we talked to one of the aunty sitting outside the visiting lounge.
The aunty was 70 which nothing of her looks like 70 except for some age spots. So I asked who is she seeing and it was her daughter. Her daughter has a very rare disease - Muscle degenerative disease, she was shedding tears while explaining that her daughter is now unable to speak, walk and move. It has been 2 months since they found out about her rare disease.
Of course the conversation lasted for at least 20 minutes where she tell me about her granddaughter is actually a doctor! But there is no cure for this disease.

Surgery DayThe entire surgery lasted for 6.5 hours which start from 2.00 p.m. and I am informed that father had been admitted to HDU (High Dependency Unit) at around 8.45 p.m.
I was waiting outside of the operation theater starting from 2.30 p.m. which later on a surgeon assistant came to tell me that I should be waiting at the visitor lounge. She told me about the progress and everything that has happened; the surgery which was suppose to start at 1.00 p.m. was delayed until 2.00 p.m. , the tumor was out at 5.30 p.m. and the installation of stoma bag was completed at 8.30 p.m.
The surgeon assistant - Leah (not sure if i heard it right, a Chinese girl) must thought I was worried sick when she saw me sitting on the floor outside the operating theater, she guided me to the visitor lounge, explained the progress and went back to the operating theater. She came to the visitor lounge again to inform me of the progress at around 7.20 p.m. I really appreciate that! My siblings have been calling in to ask if our father is ok.
Went to see my father in HDU and he is shivering heavily (Post anesthetic effect)! But At least I know he is alright.
The doctor later came to explain 2 things:
1. The tumor is quite below
2. The cancer did not spread
That is exactly what he said, then he walked away. Though I have some questions to ask, he said he was really tired, so theres no choice but to let him go off.
Lets hope i get to see the Doctor tomorrow.
Once again, thank you all that pm-ed me and the care you've shown during these 3 days.

Dr Samuel Tay suggested that my father use the colostomy bag, which he recommended if necessary would remove the entire rectum part which is approximately 15 cm long from anus towards the colon. (The tumor is 10 cm away from anus). This is subject for changes while my father go through the operation tomorrow.
He will rejoin the colon to anus which is considered another major surgery after removal of the tumor.
I did post the question as to why such extreme countermeasure is employed by him and this is how he answered:
Doctor: "No, I really dont do communication, I don't, other doctors might want to upkeep their ego, but I am not here to take the risk for you, I would not want to keep the risk of cancer coming back again. I don't want to fight with the cancer cell"
Me:" I see, now I understand why one of you ex-patient mentioned that you're 'extremely careful'"
Doctor: I am obsessive. No communicate.
Well, I dont speak his lingua, but after hearing what his ex-patient experience, I have great confidence on this doctor.
Credits:Alicia - who took time to chat with me over phone about her experience on colon cancer.
Jason - shared with me his journey as a colon cancer survivor (Dr. Samuel's ex-patient)
Dr Azrif - gave me free consultation on the clinical report and recommended me the plausible treatments. (From Princecourt)
Steve - added me into cancer support group
To be continued.......
And many many more who recommended me doctors and treatments they have in their sleeve. Thank you!
Now, I can only surrender to the doctors and nurses.
Do pray for my father if you have a great God. I Thank you in advance.

The CT scan is clear except for the lymph nodes which are enlarged (local lymphadenopathy) and pericolic fat infiltration.
But neither can be directly translated that the lymph nodes are infected with cancer cells although the chances are high. (Correct me if Im wrong)

Hi All,
My father was diagnosed with colon cancer few days ago, me and my siblings are very concerned of his current condition. We've immediately setup the meeting with Dr. Samuel Tay Kwan Sinn from Sunway Medical Centre for further investigation.
But we also welcome recommendations as to which oncologist in Malaysia or other countries can provide the best treatment for our father. Your attention and help are greatly appreciated.
