One year ago, from the pictures, and with developer trying to stretch out for Duke3, EkoRiver and BM, it could be sweaty and a bit concerned about abandonment. That time, the developer had yet to be glc-ed.
Now, with at least multiple buildings are above the fence, a bit relieved.

Yup, linking the two malls gives a covered walkway access(under hot sun or wet rain) and provides more options for the patrons from both sides of the areas.
