Quite surprised when I saw some the pics posted at fb. Was expecting better (or at the very least, touch up the pillars and ceilings before opening it to the public) from this developer, considering that they are up against Sunway Velocity and MyTown which opened earlier with much better finishings, albeit dusty.

Gonna pay a visit to it this coming weekend.

Still have Sunway Velocity and MyTown to hang out at and watch the occasional movie while waiting for this mall to be properly complete.

What mean by soft opening or official opening. Open to public to go in, meaning opening. Use the word "soft opening" to cover the works hasn't finish but can operating.

Well to be honest, I don't think it will be as bad as phoenix , if EkoVest can really screw this mall up at such location, I'm really speechless, was so looking forward to it till they pull out this "design" stunt. On the other hand they are getting a lot of free publicity, now every aunty uncle in the neighbor hood is talking about the mall.

Try going there one day. I was there on the week that it opened to the public and saw portions of the mall which are unfinished and you can see workers rushing to do the touch up here and there. Heck, on one of the carpark exits, you can see a crane still working with some of the construction materials on one side.

Try comparing this to Sunway Velocity when it first opened at the tail end of last year, where both the interior and exterior are complete when it was open to the public. The only problem is the dust in the carpark and the mall walkways. Same goes for MyTown, but I only visited it a few weeks later after it opened to the public, and by then, the dust are not there. In the latter's case, I only recall that the basement cp looked raw during the first 1 or 2 months and there are water leaks in some spots, but nowadays it looks much better and those water leaks are no longer there.
Or you can wait until its nearing completion and see how many unsold units are still around. Who knows, maybe they'll offer better rebates by then.

Well, Leisure Mall has always aimed for the neighbourhood in Cheras since its opening decades back when Cheras wasn't developed and flooded with low to mid income family. Now their strategies remain the same although the neighbourhood got wealthier and demand might have changed too. But Leisure Mall is still their convenient one-stop shop. And if you notice the GSC in Leisure Mall is cheaper than the standard ones in MidValley and so on. Also they're even busy during weekdays too as most of their consumers there are student, only weekend is for family. So yeah, basically the whole mall is cater for medium-low to medium-mid income earners. Thus PPB's GM or director once said Eko Cheras is not a direct competitor to them

And Leisure Mall keeps upgrading every 5 years to keep up with its condition, which makes it looks alive and a good running mall haha

the moment they pull out the mall with this kind of "concept" and "design" you will be like "why am i not surprise" anymore

I normally stand in front of the oriental banquet to look at Level 3 units. That's the closest point to observe the "final product".
So far, aircond units and grills have been installed for that level.

is the Village grocer open already ?
mall operator cant wait to charge parking..
