Well go freelance is the only choice.. depends on what is your modelling expertise.. for polygon mastery will land you in budget game company.. while nurbs / polygon mastery land you in visual efffects / product modelling.
blender 3d website do have a link to a GPLed renderer which is capable of doing GI and partial HDR, try playing with that might lead you to something else when hunting for freelance projects. |

if u wanna break into 3D industry, u can try to make a few high quality 3D modelling projects. Environment , human, vehicle, or creatures would be cover.
Prepare a demo-reel for ur 3D stuff n sent into company which asking for 3D modelling. Have u look into jobstreet or jobsdb? Read the job spec, u will see a picture in ur mind. |

Nice, but jobs don't want you to use Blender. Infact, they want you to stay away from it AFAP. It simply just doesn't fit in their pipeline (Mainly Maya/Max + Zbrush + Modo/Silo)
Try Modo 202. It's very nice, and in some cases better than Lightwave 9. It's quite easy to learn, too. |

I have tried Lightwave 9 and its quite horrible now, pretty disappointed with it.Try Modo 202. It's very nice, and in some cases better than Lightwave 9. It's quite easy to learn, too. |

If u seriously want to get a job.
Learn Maya, Max, XSI or LW. Maya and XSI are more in to Visual FX. Max and LW are used more in Architectural visuals. And Max has also set a deep foot in to 3d games modeling and TV series industry. If u are using Maya and Max. Chances of getting a job are higher. Currently most of the Studios in Malaysia are using Maya, XSI and Houdini. No offense on Blender. Atleast u are better than ppl who use illegal licensed softwares. As far as i remember, blender can produce excellent artworks and animations. Maybe before u move on to other packages, maybe u should polish ur skills first. try Wings3d if u want to speed up ur modelings. Get connections to Renderman (3delight or Aqsis) for ur blender for faster and much more technical to learn from. U seems to like designs. Keep doing it and decide whether u wanted to get in to visual FX or motion graphics. So far u seems to be going for Motion Graphics. in that case, LW seems closer to ur needs. I know a few graphic design studios using lw. |

www.basecampvfx.com
basecamp in Jalan Ampang is using houdini for their animation projects. I remember they were looking for animators. and they provide training for houdini from scratch. give it a try if u are interested. |
