Has anyone tried using argan oil on their skin? I've read that it's good for dry and even oily skin as it helps to regulate. Would love to hear from anyone with acne prone / oily skin on their experience.

tried marula oil myself, nvr tried argan.(Both should be similar enough i think) Acne fighting or not I'm not sure but it sure does moisturize your skin well and wont break you out. Noticeably less chapped and dried skin patch if you have any. Smells like peanut butter biggrin.gif

My beautician advised me do not use argan oil, it is too oily and will clog the pores.

Never try. I have acne prone/oily sensitive skin. Tea tree oil works for me but using it alone has caused my face to become overly dry. Now I include some hydration masks to my regime and my face has improved a lot.

I have developed cystic acne time to time on forehead (acc to Chinese, it is digestive issue).

I found authentic honey to help reduce the swelling of my acne.

Not sure if argan oil helps...

Not true if it's pure & genuine argan oil. True if it's fake or mixed with other substance already. When something becomes popular, you can pretty much expect fakes & lower grade ones popping up.

If honey helps, just stick to the honey cause argan oil is more expensive, roughly RM100 for a mere 60ml. Unless you're using those expensive manuka honey for it laugh.gif

Agreed. Very few people have integrity with Argan oil unfortunately. I am Moroccan myself and my extended family has Argan trees; they press their own oil and I must say that I have never seen such quality anywhere in Morocco - let alone in Malaysia.

I just tried two Argan oils today in Mont Kiara. One was from a reputable international brand - pure crap! And the other one was a local distributor - even worse as it was diluted with olive oil...old olive oil...

Yea, the trick is to do further research into the brand to know where they source their argan oil from. Usually if the argan oil is genuine, its detail will be published.

I got mine from the women's corporation in Morocco too, those ladies that grinds the argan nut into paste on stones or mortars. Then continuously hand squeeze the argan paste over & over for its oil. You should look at their hands, literally forever 21 hahaha laugh.gif

i heard that arabiAN use it too ? confused.gif  flex.gif

If you're referring to argan oil, yes of course the Arabs has been using it. In fact a lot of people worldwide has been using it. It's not a new discovery, argan oil has been used for culinary & cosmetic purposes for centuries already. Just that if I'm not mistaken, around 10 years ago argan oil became popular because a UK or US celebrity was seen using it.

So as things becomes popular, naturally imitations, fakes, poor grades etc will pop up & pass off as the genuine one. People who bought the imitation ones get disappointed in the item altogether. Whereas those that bought the genuine ones will swear by it for life laugh.gif

1 tip about argan oil; there are more & more roasted argan oil appearing on cosmetic shelves. Roasted argan oil is the cheaper version that's used for culinary purposes, the method of extraction is different hence its benefits are different as well. So if you're planning to use argan oil for your face, it shouldn't have a roasted aroma.

If you wanna find those, you need to do a lot of research. Mainly on the company's sourcing etiquettes or policies for the ingredients. These info are usually published openly because it's one of their strength or key selling point.

I dare not answer regarding mineral oils cause I'm not 100% sure myself. But as far as I recall, yes mineral oils tend to leave a greasy residue on your skin. On the other hand, my personal experience on various plant based oils is; a good or genuine one will be 100% absorbed into your skin & leaves nothing lingering on your skin. So no greasy feeling or clogged pores. You should feel a bit moisturized after applying. For instance if I use argan oil on my hands, everything will be fully absorbed in after rubbing my hands for several minutes. It goes deep into your skin & nourish your cells from there. I can even use my phones or computer normally after that, I actually just applied some black seed oil on my hands as I'm typing this haha.

Then there's animal oil as well e.g. emu oil. Well, for ethics reason.....not gonna elaborate further on that sweat.gif

I choose to believe in plant based oils because, it's not a new technology or new discovery or new invention. Humans have been studying plants for the longest time. It's something that has been used for centuries long. Have you ever wondered during Cleopatra or King Ashoka or the Han Dynasty time, what have the people been using to remedy their skin problems? If it has been proven effective since those ancient civilization time, pretty sure it still is until today. If it's toxic, pretty sure people would stop using it after a few hundred years or so laugh.gif

Need to do more research lo.

I just applied black seed oil on my hands as I'm replying to you earlier. I can type normally after several minutes.

Maybe what you felt isn't greasy, but probably the moist feeling? Or try massaging it longer until it's fully absorbed. Or did you used too much? If it's pure oil, 1 or 2 drops should be sufficient already. It'll definitely feel greasy if it's not fully absorbed in, it's oil after all laugh.gif

Olive oil, if it's processed for culinary use, it'll probably remain greasy - not sure on this part. The argan oil is roasted if it's meant for culinary use, while cold pressed if it's meant for cosmetic use. So the method of extraction is different depending on its purpose, hence the result also will be slightly different although both are still argan oil.

I don't have that much experience on those commercialized ones, cause I'm happy with what I've found already & I'm sticking to it.

Like mask( apply before sleeping).
Use it when you don't apply makeup.
I use tualang honey for cystic acne (It's like ingrown red acne).

1. Toner aka Lotion - Lunamer and Kanebo
2. Moisturizer aka Emulsion - Lunamer
3. Make up - liquid foundation (I use hand to apply) Loreal
4. Removing makeup - Shiseido Oil
5. Wash face - Senka
6. Repeat step 1 and 2.
