I'm not bro la. You gotta check if insurance is allowed and consider installment as purchase.

Insurance should be in, cause in Essential its specifically mentioned insurance only 0.6% instead of 1%, but will double check.

Annual income: 48k
Free lifetime annual fee: preferred or can be waived easily
Card required for: pay utilities, groceries , dining, petrol, insurance
Existing card: OCBC GE mastercard, Aeon Big Gold
Looking at cc from: any, need to find one to replace my OCBC cc as they are retracting the unlimited 1% cash rebate on any spend.

I can think of HLB Essential and HLB Fortune.

HLB Essential: https://www.hlb.com.my/main/personal/cards/essential-card
0.6% cash back on first RM5,000 spend (tier 1)
1% unlimited cash back on subsequent spend (tier 2)
Enjoy automatic annual fee waiver with a minimum of 12 retail transactions or RM8,000 retail spend a year.

HLB Fortune: https://www.hlb.com.my/main/personal/cards/fortune-card
1% Real Cash Earnings on your purchases*

Whether it's shopping, dining, petrol or anything else, you will earn 1% cash for every Ringgit spent. E.g. RM100 x 1% = RM1. Spend more, earn more.

Real cash earning is awarded to the cardholder based on the total posted Ringgit amount of retail purchases (local and international) charged to the card, including supplementary credit card(s). In the event posted transaction falls on statement date, the transaction will be calculated for real cash earnings in the following month.

*Real Cash Earnings will only be credited upon meeting the minimum threshold of RM20 and capped at a maximum of RM50 calculated on a monthly basis.
I read n read HLB website about Essential and Fortune. Except that Fortune CB is slightly higher than Essential CB, I do not see any difference.
Why HLB even bother to have Esssential in its portfolio???
Or did I miss out any good feature of Essential?? confused.gif confused.gif

HLB Essential is 0.6% for first tier (first 5k) and subsequently after that is 1% unlimited.
HLB Fortune is 1% but capped at RM 50 per month and you won't get anything if your accumulated cash back is less than RM 20 per month. So, this is a good card if you could spend at least RM 2k but capped at RM 5k (RM 50 cash back).

Keyword here for Essential - unlimited.

Ohh... i misunderstood this sentence:
"Real Cash Earnings will only be credited upon meeting the minimum threshold of RM20"

I tot it means if u spent RM1000, get RM10 CB this month, the CB will be accumulated over the next month until reaches RM20 CB. Goshhh...

Isn't it must simpler english to say minimum spending RM2k to qualify CB.... what a misleading sentence bruce.gif bruce.gif

I also thought of the same thing too and was about to put in my application today but I decided to clarify with CS first. He confirmed that one needs to spend at least RM 2k per month and it will not be accumulated. If cannot achieve then burn. My general transactions are not much every month, so I am giving it a pass this round.

It is legit. Others on the forum have done it. Though i'm sure there's still some basic t&c one needs to fulfill.

HSBC's cash back is based on tier, unless you spend a lot every month, then you may consider.

No such thing. You can try any bank. However, probably you try with your salary crediting bank.
