If it follows the previous OS upgrade pricing: EVERYONE pays full price.
... Unless you've bought a Macintosh computer within a timeframe (IIANM it is 30 days) before the launch of the new OS you do not qualify for a free upgrade. It sucks, but there it is.... This post has been edited by MacDaNife: Nov 8 2006, 01:47 PM |

*sigh* And there's still Leopard to consider. Add that to another item in my list of "Why I shouldn't blow RM8k on a MBP any time soon."
Looks like I'll be holding off until next year after all |

Blah. artyca: I'm guessing USD$129, like all previous versions.. unless mr. jobs pulls a fast one and unveils a "new licensing scheme"? KTay: Yeah, but I need one now |

It's full retail. Does Apple even make OEM copies of its Mac OS X?
Strictly speaking, Apple-produced machines are the only ones that can run Mac OS X. No license keys, even! |

there's Tiger in CD-ROM version. You can buy it for USD9.99 if you bought the DVD version.
http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/ (look at the 2nd box on right side) And there's many other way to install it to a non-DVD drive Mac. This post has been edited by wei: Dec 18 2006, 07:00 PM |

R-K-F,
If you need one now, might as well just pay for the Leopard upgrade when it's out. Besides, would you really need to use the 'new' features on Leopard? Plus, when Leopard's out, Apple may announce something else and u'll want it, then u'll just wait again ah? When would all the waiting end?! (Here I am asking people to get it while I'm still stuck deciding!) hAhahaha.... |

How much HDD space would Leopard need? With all those features I figure it would need at least double of Macbook's stock HDD size..

civic98,
If you're not gonna be using the 'additional' applications, maybe don't even need to get Leopard. Anyhow, no need to think so much now I guess - we'll just have to keep waiting till it's been released. No point talking so much about it - i mean, there's just certain things which can be planned, and well, some things just can't be planned |

KTay,
What I meant was I sure can understand why the 'sarcasm' especially with my double-mindedness *grins* I remember coming onto this forum with the same questions - should I wait for Leopard to be released before making the purchase? Should I get an MBP?! etc etc And for me to tell others there's really no best time to get something, nor wait for Leopard sure seems a little uhm..... [well, i think you get where I'm coming from]... And, of course we're good! It's X'mas This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Dec 20 2006, 06:02 PM |

leopard is compatible for both PPC and Intel so yes your ibook G4 can be upgraded to leopard. AFAIK, Apple has yet to have to plans to stop supporting PPC but it is safe to say 10.6 or 10.7 onwards they prolly will because PPC may be too slow to run those.

I think it should be USD129, or RM499. Which isn't too much to pay for an OS. This is a MAJOR upgrade anyways.
I remember distinctly queuing up at the Applecentre in London for OS X 10.0 way back on March 24, 2000. Crazy. I was prolly the 50th buyer. Apple usually has the software rebate coupon, but usually valid for newly purchased hardware (without Leopard at the time of purchase) over a certain time period. Personally I am waiting to buy a MacBook, but only after Leopard is released. |

it's safe to say that Leopard MUST look and perform better than wat was revealed at the WWDC by Stevie Jobs... the expectation of this OS is juz too immense for it to look almost the same as the current brushed metal look and juz hv stuff frm other OS like spaces & time machine...
But having said that, will get the upgrade irregardless... |
