QUOTE(Spawnster @ Dec 19 2015, 07:32 AM) Hi guys....I'm currently using a zotac 760 GTX amp card with a 22inch monitor. I'm now planning to upgrade my monitor to a dell U2515H 1440p soon and I'm looking for a GC recommendation., Im pretty sure my existing card will struggle with the new monitor. I'm really into RPG games like Witcher 3, Fallout 4 etc. And also online games like World of Tanks (competitively) and Ships. I don't play much fps games. However I do dabble in it once in a while. I like to play at ultra settings. I have budget between 1.5k to 3k, though the less I spend on GC, the better....so its a toss up between 970s or 980. I would like a future proof card. Recommend me a good but resonably priced 970 and 980 pls. My system spec :- Intel i5 4670 @ 4.2ghz 8gb DDR3 ram 700w PSU Aero cool GT 700s MSI z87-g45 mobo Thanks sifus. I would recommend 980 bro. Buy a 2nd hand card for a better price. If 970 u can't get everything in ultra.

QUOTE(Spawnster @ Dec 20 2015, 09:48 AM) That's the thing, isn't it....you are running at medium, whereas I would prefer to run it at ultra. Though I have been running witcher 3 at ultra with my current set up. Just had to choose the lowest setting for foliage and I can run 25 to 40fps. Ok, so most recommend a 980Ti. I'm seeing a lot of new Ti cards that has 3 settings that can be adjusted on the fly, right? Some with some crazy clock speeds. If I were to get a regular 980gtx Ti 6gb card, I would still be able to OC it right, if the need is there. I don't see the point of paying a couple hundred bucks more for a feature that I can do on a normal card. Pls correct me if I'm wrong. yes u might still be able to OC it but chances are, you cant OC much. When u say regular card, im guessing you're referring to a reference card. Reference card has an average cooler with bad temps & noise. Non reference card has binned GPU for better oc, better cooler and much much quieter. so thats why people are willing to pay more for a non reference card. cheapest non reference card i found it zotac amp edition. or u can try and get a gigabyte g1 2nd hand for less than 3k. i bought strix oc 980ti and its way better than the reference card. i can get around 20% more performance.

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 21 2015, 10:21 PM) hard to say, last time it was 4 digits with suffixes. After the 9800 GT and whatever else then came the new series GTX 2xx Now we reach GTX 980 Ti who knows future models would be like X100, then X200 ........... yeah i hope they dont use 1080 ti. hopefully its something a little less mouthful.

QUOTE(Oyaji @ Dec 22 2015, 10:24 PM) Hi guys, would a gtx970 be good for 1080p gaming? currently using samsung syncmaster 2243 and benq t2200hd. Planning to get a zotac 970 amp extreme core. Is that a good graphic card? Yes 970 is great for 1080p gaming. As for 970 amp extreme, i only researched 980 ti amp extreme and that card is extremely huge and has the highest oc clocks among other cards. So hopefully 970 version is about the same.

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 24 2015, 01:03 PM) And how is one to say Zotac is not reliable? I've had plenty of ASUS cards broke down. not saying zotac is not reliable. just from various feedbacks and user reviews, asus cards are pretty reliable.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Dec 24 2015, 01:13 PM) Typical recommendation because one is a huge brand, the other is a who-are-they brand. If you did a little bit of research, the Strix from Asus was and still is one of the worse 970s around. From the fact that its voltage is locked a lot lower than its competitors, something that even a BIOS mod can't reliably alleviate, to the fact that the cooler is subpar. As for reliability... err lol. one of the worst 970s huh? my research said otherwise. there were a lot of praise on the card. but good point on the locked voltage though. fyi, my recommendation is not because asus is a well known brand, more on user reviews & feedbacks.
