Indeed!! And when more supply of pascal cards and substitute products become available (Red Team), we can expected prices to "normalise" further

Haha... Don't think it will drop further. Now RM 4.14 to USD. My 980 still got value biggrin.gif

Can't wait to see the pricing for 1080/1070 locally.
*
I think a saw Zotac GTX1080 FE going for RM3499.

EDIT : changed the price based on what I see on their FB page

I wonder will $599 "ref" edition will have 2 x8 pin like non-FE to maximize OC performance compare to 1x8pin.
getting the $699 to slap a waterblock is kinda waste the $100.

$599 ref card + WC =  thumbup.gif
*
FE is with 8 pin power. As seen in Computex, no-FE versions are 6+8 pin for better stability for OC since non-FE will be with different levels of OC by the respective AIB

MSI released a $599 version of 1080. It's using reference PCB and blower style cooler. I think Galax made them too. So, there are 8-pins non-FE versions.
*
Asus ROG Strix GTX1080 is with 6+8 pin

I've been on 1080p for sometime now and manage to max out settings with my 980 ti. Next change is to jump on the 1440p wide-screen bandwagon. Waiting for the 1080 ti to do this as the 980 ti will be too strained at that kind of resolution with max settings.

1080 for 1080p is an overkill as it is, 1080 SLI... sweat.gif

Now I ponder 2 plans,

Plan A,
Buy XB271HU Monitor with GTX 1080 Estimate Cost RM6K++

Plan B,
Buy 24" (1080p Gsync 144hz) Monitor with GTX 1070 (or lower spec GPU). Estimate Cost RM4K

Choices, choices. sweat.gif
*
Investing in a GTX 1080/1070 to run 1080p is really a waste. The way forward is 1440p. FYI, you could now get an XB271HU listed at RM3199 with free Predator headset (worth M499).

Gonna get 1070 or 1080 soon...

With both the 1080 and soon, 1070 being so new to the market, demand > supply = HIGH prices! If you are able to hold off a bit longer, can get them at lower prices.

That's the plan. Wait another few months. Earlier thinking of getting GTX980 but since Pascal is around corner, I have been waiting until now.

Actually I don't plan to buy monitor first but I don't fancy paying RM3K cash. Installment plan (0% interest) deal looks good that's why I took it. Can't find another place with this offer.
*
The XB271HU is a good monitor with 1440p resolution, 144Hz refresh and IPS panel. It will serve you well for many years to come. Now, you just need to pair it with a decent GPU to enjoy the 144hz refresh

I read some thread, that some people bought GPU from overseas. Since is much cheaper in the US. Is it worth the exercise ?

For me, small savings cannot justify lack of warranty support

That's a great tips, Goldfries !

Apparently products shipped since 2011 eligible for international warranty

Anyone knows if there is any tax for importing GPU ?

I think computer parts no more custom duty?

according to this site lah : http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

from my understanding, only 6% GST.
*
You are right. Even before the GST era, computer parts were only subjected to sales tax, no duty.

*Whoosh*

...that's the sound of my small hope/thought of getting the GTX 1070 disappearing into thin air after seeing the price.

Will stick with my current card for as long as I can hold out.
*
If your existing card is still able to get you the results you need, stick with it. Am hopeful prices will settle down when market supply starts to increase.

GTX 1070. Booking for the custom aib one. Visit Idealtech Facebook and pm them for the price. They told me stock is limited so I might just take any brand of GTx 1070 that they can allocate.
*
Yes, stock is very, very limited until at least end July. Whatever becomes available are quickly snapped up currently

I'm fine with my current card as I only game at 1080p. Just a 'possibility' only of getting the GTX 1070 as a nice performance boost and perhaps future proofing when I upgrade my display to 1440p/4k. If the card is above RM2k then its an absolute no-go. If below RM2k, then it will be a maybe. Will see if the price settles.
*
As I too am currently still on 1080p, the only compelling reason for me to get a Pascal will be when I ascend to a wide screen 1440p monitor. Am waiting on the Acer X34P which is expected to be out end of the year.

Really love the new reference cooler design. It's so nice compared to the previous generation designs.

They've added backplate to it which is a really neat touch. Last time GTX 980 Ti reference, no backplate. Ugly like silly.
*
Considering most of our casing/mobo orientation, we will hardly ever get to see the nicer reference shroud. We will be seeing more of the backplate instead

Hence the RGB colors on the cooler shroud that many brands are promoting on AiB units are useless. biggrin.gif

It's the part of the graphics card I see the least, I think I see the I/O more than the fans once it's in place.
*
Exactly! The RGB are just overhyped, adding more cost to the production leading to higher prices for the consumers. What a waste

You could also consider the Corsair Air series 540 or 240. The latter supports MATX/ITX mobos, which I am using. Provides excellent cable management and good air flow
