After read some reviews, i can conclude...
Performance 1080 = 980 SLI Power consumption = Less than 200W (500W PSU should be ok) Temp = 100% load about 80C (need 3rd party cooler if want OC) Overclockabilty = 10-15% 4k 60fps = No. 1080ti maybe... Im waiting for Zotac GTX1080 AMP Extreme. List of 1080 reviews This post has been edited by norazwan79: May 18 2016, 08:27 AM |

This is great announcement gonna release May 27, now have to say goodbye to 780ti after so long good service. Or are they thinking of releasing Gtx1080Ti probably near end of the year?

QUOTE(kahtsin @ May 18 2016, 07:44 AM) Well, unless you really want to squeeze out the remaining 30% then go ahead. But the 980ti would suffice until some new ti editions are announced. Unless you really cannot live without 120fps looking at the recent performance charts, seems that a 1080ti would mostly benefit 4k fps performance using more higher settings......And I'm pretty sure those who can get the 980ti wouldn't have any budget issue but if i'm not mistaken, the 1080 can also do 30-40fps+ with high graphics settings at 4k. but if you can hit 60 fps+ that is always going to make a difference. you can still do 4k with lower settings or leave aa disabled (which most people often do for aa for 4k anyway). 4k may seem doable as such on a 1080 without needing to wait on a 1080ti. my point is, at most 1080ti will mostly be of most benefit for 4k gaming. but as far as lower res below 4k is concerned, the 1080 seems to get the job done just fine. so you'd be waiting on a 1080ti if it shows up, and you'd be paying presumably much more, presumably more than a 980ti, considering that the 1080 is priced higher than 980 at launch wasn't it? speaking from the viewpoint of someone who buys their cards to last 4-6 year before next gpu upgrade PS: i think pcper pretty much summarized the pascal as being not too far off from the maxwell architecture, especially that performance wise it's a 1:1 ratio if you had the same number of parts. But they increase performance by adding on more stuff ontop of the other tweaks. (in video scroll to 1:57 he explains it better) as such could speculate that the bigger real change will be with volta perhaps? in terms of fps performance boost, also more bandwidth with HBM2 which 4k will most likely need (right now with 1080 their using compression to deal with the narrower bandwidth, also using gddrx5 for that slightly more bandwidth needed). but even if thats the case, i already pointed out for ultra 1080p and other resos below 4k the 1080 and even 980ti will be good enuff. Also don't forget 8gb vram is now the new standard with the intro to 1080 and this is good enough even for the highest end games. 1080 edge over 980ti is that the former may have gotten async compute done right this time around. as for image quality 1080 also has 10bit HEVC encode which will work well with my Dell U2413 10bit monitor to reduce banding when watching my 10bit videos my 50cents This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: May 18 2016, 09:47 AM |

980 Ti still holding up well against the 1080.
Well, to be fair, the 1080 is suppose to be compared to 980, in which case it is 2x 980 (and most benchies prove that) - which is remarkable and kudos to Nvidia. If want the 980 Ti be beaten squarely by Pascal, the 1080 Ti would do that. Right now, 4k30fps is comfortably achieved with the 1080, some nearing 50s. The 1080 Ti, I truly believe will finally (ok, this time 'finally' final) be the single GPU solution to 4k60fps in the big games. The 1080 is undoubtedly the most powerful single GPU on the planet at the moment, hail to the king! Now... can't wait for 1080 Ti This post has been edited by defaultname365: May 18 2016, 10:31 AM |

If you are coming from any previous ti versions, then wait for newer ti versions. I mean, you've gone ti, why bother going back to non-ti?

Yes it has better power to performance ratio but before you go out change the GTX 980 Ti to a 1080, do know that it's not going to make a huge impact on your electricity bill if you're just gaming an hour or 2 a day.
Your loss from selling off the GTX 980 Ti to get a 1080 would surely be more than the amount saved on electricity bill. Keep in mind also that if you have satisfactory framerate with GTX 980 Ti then the 1080 would not make your gaming experience any better. |

Tech wise it's good on paper but performance wise it's really not that much of a jump from 980ti to 1080. Compared to 980 then it's quite a substantial margin la. Those on 980ti unless you got cash to burn, then might as well wait till 1080ti la...
Now my 970 now feel so lembik~ hahaha... XD This post has been edited by antaras: May 18 2016, 02:19 PM |

Some interesting benchmarks for 980ti vs 1080 by Tek Syndicate and Paul's Hardware
With the embargo expired, we can expect to see more benchmarks published in short notice. Critically, hope this will calm all the panic selling I have noticed in Garage Sales This post has been edited by richard912: May 18 2016, 06:26 PM |

But when playing games, good luck with those sli profile and stuff.. Sli is meh in general unless everything dx12. Coming from someone who once have 970sli and changed to 980ti. Better just going with a single card imo, but depends what you want guess, if you like more fps |
