Hi all,

I am currently trying to choose between Vios J or E variant.
TOYOTA sales adviser said currently they have RM6K discount, and TOYOTA website indicates the following "freebies":

While J variant equip with DVD-AVN, but E variant have an extra item called "Infotainment", so what does this added "Infotainment" gives?

From what the sales adviser told, different between J and E are front fog lamp and electronic retractable side mirror only.
I know these are not all, so I looked at the spec. and noticed a few more differences such as:
  • Turn indicator at side mirror
  • Rear seat 40/60 foldable and arm rest
  • Scuff plates
Besides the items listed above, what else does E variant have while J variant don't?

For the extra few thousands ringgit, I wish to know if I will get something that I will regret if I go for J variant.

Please help and thank you in advanced. notworthy.gif

Wow, DVD-AVN for J spec? that is nice. I bought J spec last July no DVD-AVN plus reverse camera  cry.gif  but got RM6k rebate.
For me J spec sufficient enough. Besides the small differences with E specs. Even extra few THOUSAND ringgit also is accountable. Can change new wide sport rims to reduce swaying during cornering. As for me  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi, swaying durung cornering happens only when HARD cornering or normal driving style?

By the way, I forgot to ask, what is that 3 in 1 thing some owners installing to their car?

Thanks!

the default setup is so soft its a tail happy car.

3in1 is the device that provide the following:
1. Central lock via brake or speed limit
2. autofold side mirrors
3. buzzer sound upon car door lock/unlock via your remote
*
Thanks RoxyMunky, looks like this 3 in 1 device is a must have for Vios and I am so surprised to realized the original setup that the door will not lock when the car start moving... shakehead.gif
Autofold side mirror only suitable for J variant right? Because E or G already have this?

EDIT: forgot to mentioned, I am ok with soft suspension, in fact, I always complain my current national car's stiff suspension, I hate it.
I prefer comfort drive, mostly city driving, I'm not the racer type of driving style.

Haha... I'm not even book the car yet, was considering whether J or E... hmm.gif
By the way, I wish I could support you, but too bad I stay in Penang... cry.gif
Unless your device can be DIY (install ourselves) then I can order from you by post. icon_rolleyes.gif

ya, applicable for J only.

the central locking removal is due to safety issue.
*
This is a bit ironic... haha....
I thought keep the doors locked is due to safety... tongue.gif

This Toyota sales advisor just called me and appointment for this Friday for discussion.

By the way, is it convenient to reveal how much is the 3 in 1 device?

Thank you si much for the information...!

none. Vios nv had any ESP in any Generation before. Correct me if im wrong.
*
I see... thank you for clarify... smile.gif

QUOTE(RoxyMunky @ Sep 25 2015, 01:47 PM)
this surprised me... from my driving experience.... City feels much more subtle over Vios.
Yes, Vios don't have traction control at all.
*
Ok, thank you for clarify... smile.gif

Just went to Toyota this morning, the sales assistant can't make it to meet me so he asked his colleague to look at my car to evaluate the price.
When I asked the guy some questions about Vios, he seems not knowledgeable because I think he is from technician department? He said I better ask sales person... tongue.gif

By the way, rear seat 60/40 folding is quite useful to my usage, may I know if E variant have it and J variant confirmed don't?

Thank you! notworthy.gif

I got RM 7,000 discount but no RM500 service voucher when I got my G specs last week sad.gif.
Made a deal with the car salesman to get the TRD body kit not through Toyota for RM 1,590 & car coating for RM 1,000
*
Wow... looks like you got even better deal with the purchase. biggrin.gif

Your car must be very cool looking with the body kit installed.

By the way, what is the usual "normal" price for a full body coating?

QUOTE(rgchai @ Nov 2 2015, 09:22 AM)
Hi all.

Anyone ever hear a short beep about 2 seconds after stopped the engine while driver site door is opened? The car is with smart entry system, and this only happened intermittently, hard to know what caused the beep sound triggered.

I'm very sure that the gear is at P and no light is turned on. After the beep sound, if try to close the door, open again, can't simulate that short beep sound anymore. Anyone have idea what's that beep sound meaning?
*
I (intermittently) got this weird beeps too... tongue.gif

I am sure gear were on P, all light were OFF, side mirror closed, air-cond were OFF etc...

Only not so sure if the steering lock were engage or not when I open the driver side door. Normally when we open driver side door, I can hear the built-in steering lock engaging. The only thing I suspect was maybe the steering was not rest properly for the lock to engage so the system warn us by the beep?

Other than that, I really can't think of anything that I've not done properly. sad.gif

Hi all,

Anyone know how to open the dashboard top cover so that I can see all the fuses, as shown in owner's manual? (Lastest gen Vios) I can't find any guide with Google and YouTube. I don't know if I can use brute force to pry open the cover?

Thank you in advance.

Does anyone know if there's any plug-and-play "socket" or something, that could disable the system prevent video playing and other operation of the audio system while the car is in motion? Maybe Sh@rty 5 have any tips? smile.gif

Yes there is plenty selling in the market

Din sell cause product isn't mahal cuna workmanship

So dun wanna have ppl complaining y mudah selling cheap u sell mahal and etx
Price not mistaken below 40

I see.... thank you for your clarification, but if you ask me, I would say buy from a shop plus installation is much better (or maybe cheaper) than order online then find a shop to install for me. biggrin.gif
