Yes KRS is just a guest house not hotel but a very clean & quiet one... rclxms.gif BTW, all hotels in CH inc the 4star EQ/Straberry/Heritage even the 5 star CH resort also got no aircon what hmm.gif biggrin.gif ..Why need aircon when the hottest day in CH never exceed 25C! on cloudy day =19C & night temperature drop to 15C-17C!...Yes chit-chatting wth other guests are another advantages of staying at guest house.

QUOTE(shift @ Aug 22 2008, 01:23 AM)
Just got back from CH last Monday. Stay at KRS Pines. RM120 for family room, 4 pax (1 queen bed & 2 single bed). The room is basic only, no phone, no air cond & fan (cold already lol) but it's clean & tidy. Quiet & relax environment. Suitable for backpackers & others if just want a place for sleep only. The girl & guy whose take care KRS Pines also very helpful & friendly.
I also met foreigners from Oman, French & Aussie while staying here.   smile.gif

But if u someone whose need 3-5 star hotel services this not for you.  tongue.gif

Added on August 22, 2008, 9:49 amCH only jam during Public Holiday such as CNY, Hari Raya, National day & probably starting of school holidays. The jam will not be at Tanah Rata (Heritage) but at Berinchang & Kea Farm. ..Berinchang probably OK oledi after they implemented 1 way street..but I forsee continuous jam at Kea Farm area. (The highest Habitated area in CH)

U mean Watercrest steamboat restaurant? If yes it's located about 2KM further from EQ. u hv to pass thru another street market area (Butterfly farm) & therafter another 1KM on the right. However that's my 1st & last time going there...not nice & damn pricey steamboat dinner for 2 cost me RM50! - They dun charge per pax but on the individual items that u choose. 1st they charge on the soup base...I think about RM15 (Can't remember) than u choose the ingredient in plastic containers from as low as ~RM3 to RM10...So in order to get a full benefit of it..u must go in big group bcos no matter 2 or 5 ppl, the soup base carry the same price!

QUOTE(lousai @ Aug 22 2008, 09:02 AM)
Booked Villa Dahlia aprtment for RM300 on tommorow. Anyone can advice the traffic and crowd at Cameron, as i saw from Heritage Tanah Rata webcam there is not much car moving around.

Btw, would like to drop by the watercress farm near EQ for lunch, anyone have the exact location or how to get there.

Wish it rain oso tomorrow so that the temperature can be cooler...... icon_idea.gif

There are reasinable guestgse as mentioned in earlier posting such as KRS , Twin Peak, Cameronian Inn & more.(Within walking distance from the bus station.

Yes it is possible to walk & I hv seen lotsa Mat Salleh walking but u must be really strong because it's about 5KM up hill towards Brinchang & another 5km back to Tanah Rata biggrin.gif ..Well wth the cooler temperature, walking 10km should not be a problem hmm.gif
QUOTE(nobuta @ Sep 14 2008, 03:23 PM)

Not only the bus but also the hotels...100% hotels in CH are without air-con....hehe..just to remind all since there was one forumer (Not sure whether mentioning about CH/Genting?bkt Tinggi) shouting loud that a 5star rated hotel but no Aircon!! doh.gif doh.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE(marchkingdom @ Sep 15 2008, 09:59 AM)
It is possible to wait for the local bus. It should be very economy. I've tried once.

Well, the local buses have no aircon(u dun need it @CH biggrin.gif ). And the schedule is not frequent. Also service is till evening only. Checkout the schedule when u are at tanah rata.

Not sure that road linking Sg Koyan Raub to Bertam Valley & thereafter to Ringlet completed. I was there end of last year & the portion near bertam valley really teruk -unpath & very dusty, decided to turn back after exploring ~5-10km of the unpath road biggrin.gif ..nevertheless it is possible via 4WD & the tracklogs by 4WD has been updated in Malsingmaps

QUOTE(ukiya @ Sep 26 2008, 09:38 PM)
I mean the route exit Bertam Valley oh? which passes by raub n so on !

Last month i heard few path is still undergoing some construction! Is the road better than tapah and simpang pulai !?

Ha..I always suspect the "spooky" feeling of staying at those bungalows (such as Bala)..This is not the 1sttime I heard of this story i.e someone knocking on bathroom door, door opened by itself 7 someone taking bath in the bathroom...Infact I experience once myself at Brastagi, Indonesia!! & also the Merlin Inn CH (Now 5 star Cameron Highland resort)

Damn spooky...well probably physcology but thinking of it... shakehead.gif shakehead.gif no way I'm going to stay at such hotels biggrin.gif

Lakehouse is nice & beautiful but:

1) It's far from the town (About 8 km b4 Tanah Rata)
2) Not so high located not far from Ringlet which is about 1100M (~Fraser Hill height)

The 2 factors really kill off those who wanted location near to eateries & also much cooler location)

CH rains almost daily. Nevertheless, I like going there during raining season..for an obvious reason....Only during raining season at the end of the year & wth strong wind, Temperature sometime fall to 12C...hehe..more interesting than going there when temperature during none raining season/not windy just avg around 18C-23C

Read earlier postings, there are lotsa recommendations already. For those without transport & looking for cheap food & stay, Tanah Rata is definitely a better choice rather than Brinchang which is a cut-throat town!

There is a new apartments area called Royal Lily. Lotsa of apartment there and not far from Tanah Rata town ctr. Bala as earlier posted, looks haunted to me & one of the guy who stayed there felt eeriness.. shocking.gif Bala is abit out of town located about 2KM in between oth Brinchang & Tanah Rata.

I hv added the below Tanah Rata maps (From malfreemaps.com) inclusive of the new Royal Lily Apartment or flats (This is individual owner type of apt but rented out to tourist) & also Bala's at the Northern tip of the maps..In the maps u can also views most of the hotels & guesthouses but abit tiny to the eye.. blush.gif

Hi, I'm looking for a budget stay in CH, but since it's first time going there, I don't know which one is good.

My budget is under RM100. Here's a few I got from internet.

Daniel Travellers Lodge
Twin Pines
Father Guest House.

Any comment on those?

I stayed at Country Lodge twice. It's located high up at the bck of Brinchang town, thus less traffic noises compare to other hotels near the main street. However for the price (Not cheap >RM120/nite) I would rather stay at a cleaner budget guesthouse such as KRS (~RM70) in Tanah Rata

Why? The hotel is abit aging & smell damp wth the old carpet that u dun feel wanting to take out ur shoe
QUOTE(nhkdotcom @ Nov 13 2008, 04:20 PM)
hi, i am newbie of lowyat.net greeting everyone here, and this is my first post....  Talking about the cameron hotel, anyone has any idea about the country lodge resort and also Brinchang hotel in cameron? The service there is good or not? I plan to stay there on monday night (means no pasar malam) so is it a wise choice to choose either one of these 2 hotels? (my trip is on school holiday)

Not really all-lah...but atleast I tried most of the wellknown one oledi.. biggrin.gif ...currently my value for money for sure is KRS guesthouse...deep inside a dead end of Jln mentagi Tanah Rata..comes wth 2 single beds, attached bathroom & it's super duper clean. The TV is on the common area on each floor but most of the time the Astro hall is empty & u can play wth the remote controls all day long..provided it's not during peak period-lah.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Grengo01 @ Nov 24 2008, 05:36 PM)

Stimix.. you seem to have tried every hotel there.. which is the most value for money eh? Heritage? EQ? Century Pines? Rosa Pasadena? Strawberry Park? Getting goose bumps trying out hotels...
