Just came back last sunday.
T-cafe: except for the Scone, which is superb, other dish is so-so only by Penang standard. The Chicken Chop (Malaysian) has good portion but the breast too meaty, not suitable for senior folks. The satay sauce is not authentic. Vege lasagna is small portion. claypot tomyam didn't taste like tomyam. Stayed in Century Pine. Friday 239n. Saturday 308n. Called-in to book. www.cameronhighlands.com pricing is slightly cheaper. I think pyotravel.com also slightly cheaper. but online booking usually need 3 day in advacne. Sometimes it rains, and you easily will lose a few hours (can't do nothing). Mayflower has moved to somewhere behind Maybank Tanah Rata. Next to Nyonya Ferm. Some of the things i didn't get to try are:- Organic steamboat. Any idea which restaurant? Organic farm visit. any contact? This post has been edited by mtaiwai: Jul 15 2008, 11:22 PM |

QUOTE(vchenv @ Jul 15 2008, 10:31 PM) Greetings, since you are going there, you can consider taking up a tour organized by REACH. only RM 50 per person you can plant a tree at the reforestation site while taking a tour to mossy forest and drop by BOH plantation if time permits. This will be my first time in Cameron Highlands. Hope can relax there. Any recommended for 1)Food outlets (steamboats, vegetarian stalls) 2)Shopping for souvenirs/ fresh veggies/ cactus/ orchids 3)Interesing places that i should go 4)Any recommended tour companies for nature sight seeing, slight jungle trekking (PS: I have read the previous post, it really helps newbies before getting there. Hope to get more new info) Thanks a lot. here is the website. u can contact them. http://www.reach.org.my/ when i participated last time, there was a local guide who gave terrific explainations about tea and nature because the tree planting site is near BOH and at gunung berinchang. so why not give it a try |

Hey guys I'm planning to stay in Cameron Highlands Resort but the rate they quoted me is USD250 net per night, which is ridiculously expensive. Then I came across this website, www.hoteltravel.com, that offers competitive rate at USD206 and relatively cheaper.
I was just thinking if I booked through this agent, will the hotel charge me again to make up the difference ? |

Phew..I din know Cameron Highland resort (Previously Merlin Inn) so expensive after the renovation. I used to stay there b4 the renovation.and the pricing at that point of time was only ~RM120/nite (USD36) off peak & peak at RM180 (USD5)!!
Well, b4 the renovation, the room was small & very old ...well they are the oldest hotel in CH QUOTE(theofys @ Jul 17 2008, 09:55 PM) Hey guys I'm planning to stay in Cameron Highlands Resort but the rate they quoted me is USD250 net per night, which is ridiculously expensive. Cameron Highlands Resort was bought over by YTL and converted into a luxury hotel. I looked at it but decided not to stay there, not sure that it's worth paying close to RM1k per night there.
Theofys I've booked through hoteltravel before, the rates they publish are net rates, you don't pay any extras. The only thing is you prepay and there are penalties if you need to change anything. This post has been edited by tishaban: Jul 17 2008, 10:19 PM |

Hi, I will go to Cameron this sat for 2D 1N trip. We are coming from KL & decide to use Simpang Pulai exit.
We will check out from hotel early Sun morning. So I was wondering while on the way back to KL, is there any other place that I can visit? Etc, Ipoh or Bidor? For lunch maybe? Is there sufficient time for us to go either place? As we need to reach KL around 5pm. TX |

there's this duck noodle store at Bidor. apparently very popular. RM6.60 per bowl.
visit Mossy forest after the Boh tea plantation, or try the orang asli settlement at Brinchang. something different for cameron highlands i guess |

just got back from CH last weekend. nothing much usual activities:
1. BOH tea plantation for some tea and scones. 2. Brinchang hill top for jungle trekking. 3. Smokehouse for somemore tea and scones. the rest are like buying veges, fruits, steamboat, strawberriesss, etc. i prefer the simpang pulai exit. the road is much safer and bigger, furthermore, gives me a reason to have my lunch at ipoh |

Tanah Rata Terminal or Pudu Raya Terminal depends on date, they charge accordingly QUOTE(lonewolf @ Jul 30 2008, 10:59 AM) just want to check..can a kelisa drive up to gunung brinchang? i mean it can go up genting easily.
