I once walked into Villa Dahlia located fronting the golf course and negotiate kaw-kaw till RM170 haha. Well not easy since he wanted RM250 for 2 rooms apt.

I argued that that time is off-period and not many ppl taken up the units. After checked in, I found out actually it was a 3 rooms apt and they just lock one of the room bcos we asked for 2 rooms..haha

The lakehouse is far from town and located at lower altitude ~ 900M in between Ringlet & Habu. Distance about 2KM from Ringlet.

Cameron Highland Resort or Ex-Merlin Inn, located fronting the golf course ~ 2km from either Brinchang & Tanah Rata. Located ~ 1500M, it's much cooler thyan Lakehouse & closer to civilisation.

No idea on transport

Added on February 8, 2011, 9:13 amI prefer the Habu Boh Plantation. The best part is hiking up the summit wth the telecommunication tower just beside the factory/cafe.

The scenery on top of the summit is one of the best in CH and almost rival or better than Bharat Tea plantation. rclxms.gif. For me Palas is too commercilised, super duper narrow entry road & the scenery so-so only

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 3 2011, 01:20 PM)
tongue.gif  I confirmed that the Habu one is more old fashioned meaning the it is more classical. The atmosphere is more relaxed and scenery, I heard is also nicer maybe not as cool as the Sg.Palas one.
*
Just to add few of Habu Boh Plantations (From Google):

trail to top of the summit wth telecommunication tower..Pls hike up..Don't loss to Nenek/ Ah Poh..They can climb better biggrin.gif (Added spoiler..warning very big picture)

That farm, secluded from main road and deep at the back of those bege market very famous wth Orchid lovers wan..Long time ago they put up "Wild" & really have lotsa wild orchids..but after numerous raiding, they took out the "Wild" thing and hiding those wild orchid only to his regular customers...Only orang asli allowed to sell wild orchid.

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 19 2011, 08:21 PM)
I have never heard of specialised farms for orchids but the tourist map did mention a wild orchid farm around the bee farm which is just at the junction from where we enter Sg.Palas tea plantation. I doubt they have much variety though. There are Rose Center and Rose Valley. Those orchids sold by the orang asli are scavenge from the wild just like those hairy thingee from the paku tree and petai. When in season there's wild durians too. smile.gif

2) is it advisable to walk from tanah rata town to brinchang town? Lotsa Mat Salleh walk but not Asian  biggrin.gif. Good 4 km exercise
3) how long would it take to walk from tanah rata to brinchang? (agak agak how long) Depending on how fast you can walk lor..if 8km/hr, it will be 1/2 hr only but if 4km/hr - 1 hr lor
4) is there any attraction that is walking distance from Hotel Titiwangsa?? like farm/park/waterfall U can walk to the chinese temple. From the chinese temple can walk to Robinson fall and the summit of Gunung...(Forgotten what name liao)..& thereafter to Mardi station in Tanah Rata. Otherwise, Brinchang town pasar malam & etc

You hv to hop from one resort to another & check. I did that b4..Hv to go through about 4 b4 getting one..not easy task and all overpriced..even just a hostel style also charging >RM120!

If want cheaper & much relaxing, Those in Tanah Rata are good but normally hostel & budget style. I like KRS guesthouse. cheap & super clean. but my last was ~ 2yrs ago. not sure current condition.. On Avg you can get RM60-RM80 there..related to Twin Pine guesthouse...one of the most wellknown by Ang Moh backpacker

Not much diff lah...weather all almost the same although Brinchang (1500M) is 100M higher than Tanah Rata (1400M) biggrin.gif ..If wanna higher, stay at Kea Farm Equatorial. That's the highest resort liao at 1600M. smile.gif

Furthermore, Tanah Rata more relaxing, more Ang Moh, more nice food and no cut throat shitbrix food like in Brinchang biggrin.gif
QUOTE(hb2online @ Apr 28 2011, 08:03 AM)
I prefer stayin in brichang then.... want more mist! Hey I heard some hotel got ghosts. Which one?

I use Simpang Pulai only if I'm from Northern side ..From KL, I still prefer Tapah. The gradient & steepmess is not as bad as Spg Pulai although narrower. Shorter and faster to Tanah Rata infact. bcos bypassing the jam at Kea Farm & Brinchang haha

Yeap I agreed wth Etigge. There is no point for those heading to Tanah Rata using Spg Pulai from KL side. From Tapah to Spg Pulai, will cost xtra toll & also another 1/2-45min & from Spg Pulai to Tanah Rata also ~ 45 min to 1 hr.

If you just take Tapah to Tanah Rata it will be roughly 1-1.5hr to TR.. Same timing going further via spg pulai. You are making one big round + paying xtra toll for no purpose. Furthermore, going down using CH-Spg Pukai actually more dangerous for those auto gear not having fuzzy logic system....See what happen to the bus tragedy mths ago

You use latest malfreemaps is it? I was on my way down from CH and GPS ask me to use Sg Koyan c5 route as well. I ignored it till ~ 5km b4 the GPS reluctantly recalculate using Tapah route haha...Msut report liao this error..chances are the mapper treat the C5 as major highway and the road to Tapah minor road and thus the confusion esp those opt for highway/faster way.

Overall the Ringlet Tapah road getting worst..lotsa pot holes but still the nearest way down esp for KL ppl.

I entered from Spg Pulai on the way back to KL from Penang Y'day. Just stop at Kea Farm to buy jagung & strawberries b4 having late lunch at Tanah rata Mayflower steamboat - yummy..They shifted again for the 3rd time since 2007!!..anyway same row but few doors away haha..

BTW, For those thinking of using Spg pulai coming from KL.. For me- dun waste your money, toll and time..esp for those going to stay at Tanah Rata & Brinchang.

I calculated the timing yesterday..The 45 min from Spg Pulai to Ch is just up till Bkt Raja nia. Even to Tringkap is 1hr and to Brinchang it will cost 1.5 hrs from Spg Pulai. ..Noty forgetting another 1/2 hr from Tapah to Spg Pulai

On the way down from Tanah Rata to Tapah, it took me only 1:15min. Well for sure the old road very winding, narrower & now abit of potholes here & there

Yeah same maps although I 'using even the latest maps as at last week..Yours abit old by now but should be having the same routing error..I think time to report the routing error dy....haha

QUOTE(moxie15 @ Jun 2 2011, 02:33 PM)
I used the Papago M8 Pro Iphone 3GS. The MFM PPG V 1-3-11 map pointed me to keep left when I reached Ringlet, bit confused cause I remember going straight towards Tapah.  Agreed with the potholes and bumpy ride, still enjoyable n cooling drive, if your stomach can take the turns. I normally take the Spg Pulai route to go up, cause will stop at Ipoh for makan and Tapah route down.

BTW, about the routing error from CH to KL in malfreemaps, I already reported and it has been updated last week.. For those going there do feedback whether the GPS still re-route to Raub instead of Tapah?

Ulu Yam how to go CH haha..Ulu Yam to Genting OK-lah...

It's either Tapah or Spg Pulai (Ipoh).. From KL, nearest for sure Tapah..unless you hate narrow winding road & prefer less winding & wider, go further to Spg Pulai & pay xtra toll + suffer the horrible jam at Tringkap, Bringchang & even Tanah Rata b4 reaching Tanah Rata haha (For those staying in Tanah Rata lah)..

Currently @ Cameron Highland. Raining non-stop since 4pm. My car & watch thermometer showing 17C..cool..haha..I think by Midnite Today temp probably drop further 14 or 15C.

BTW, abit of surprise.. No jam!! Even passing by Tringkap, Kea Farm & Brinchang this Evening so clear..dun look like Holiday season to me!! blink.gif rclxms.gif ..Probably start 2moro kua?

Added on August 28, 2011, 9:30 pmSteamboat at Brinchang, Watercress valley & etc,,yeah not nice & expensive.. But at Tanah Rata, the best steamboat still Mayflower. Although lack of foochok but that is the best Steamboat I tasted in malaysia Both the tomyum & chicken stock soup equally good..

Other not so bad inc Hong kong restaurant & Nyonya Fern Leaf. T cafe changed name to my lord's cafe. However old name still displayed

Added on August 28, 2011, 10:36 pm10.30pm still raining & windy. Temp dropped further to 16.3c
